Mona two-beated into this land, the soft thuds of her hoof-beats consuming her. Her legs ached so much, she felt as though they would give out at any moment. She knew it was time to stop. Her wandering had to end, she had to find a home and herd. She glanced around her, her nares filled with the scent of a dominate stallion. She knew she was in a herd's land. Good. Mona thought, hoping it would be a good herd.
It seemed quiet, like there were no other horses around. She could only smell the stallion. Maybe I'll have a shot with him. Finding a mate was high on Mona's list of things to do, she just had to be a bit outgoing. She knew she could, the minute the stallion said she was allowed into his herd. She bent her neck and nibbled at some grass, before bending her legs so she was laying down. She kept nibbling at the grass, enjoying the chance to relax.

Batty smelt the all to familier scent of a mare and he lifted his elegant head. He trotted toward the scent and tossed his mane before seeing the mare he smiled and slowed down when he reached her hello dear mare, I do wonder what brings you to my land at this dark time he said and stretched his neck. He thought of Raptor, and how he was challenging for the land, he shuddered at the thought but still stood strong what I mean is that Mountain Springs is under threat from another stallion he sighed, maybe the mare wouldn't want to stay now she knew that she could be turned out just when she came in.
He looked the mare over, she seemed quite pretty but you could never judge a mare by what they look but what they are like on this inside. My name is Batty, the lead stallion here and you are...? he asked in a little sing song voice before walking around her, even though she was on the ground he showed no threat to her and then he returned to her face winter, a time when mares are trying to find mates and land...well you are in luck my friend as I am currently looking for someone to take the position of lead mare he winked at her and then swatted some flies on his legs.

Mona lifted her head as the stallion approached. He seemed very kind, so she relaxed quickly. She tried not to let the fact that the herd was in danger get to her. She smiled as he introduced himself and told her the position as lead mare was still open. It's nice to meet you Batty, I'm Mona. I am look for a mate, and I would be honored if you gave me a chance. She was surprised her nerves weren't setting in on her. I won't leave these lands even in this dark time. I want a family and a herd, and I will stay faithful to this one which I've chosen, no matter what happens. It was true, she'd never abandon her friends, and she hoped Batty and her could grow closer then just friends. He needed someone right now, and Mona wanted to be that someone.

Batty smiled well, you have come to the right place my friend he said and then thought for a little while I thank you for staying as I have offered this stallion the place as Duke he sighed again but then stepped back come on, we need to get you to a nice place to rest he laughed and put his muzzle down to help her up.
He pushed her up a little and then let her get up on her own. He thought of taking her to the huge apple tree where good shade was kept and it was shelter from the snow. He waited a little and pawed the ground, the ground was getting muddier and muddier at this point as he always pawed the ground when he was nervous but he put his hoof back on the ground and waited for the mare to stand.

Mona nodded and didn't press the subject of becoming mates. she guessed he already had one, or had someone else in mind. if that was the case, she'd probably move on. She'd grow attached to him, and he'd be with someone else. Due to the lack of scents, she guessed it would be her and the couple, and that's it. She knew it would drive her crazy and upset her very much.
There are others lands. She reminded herself, but shook the thoughts out of her head. She had to be optimistic that he'd chose her. The thoughts just kept flowing into her mind though.
Mona followed Batty closely, her head by his withers. She'd follow him where ever he led her, not just because she had no idea where she was, but because she wanted to.
