Batty laughed and he cantered toward the lake. His mane was streaming behind him as he quickened his pace into a galloped and he didn't stop when he reached the banks either. He galloped on and into the lake, still galloping her ran through it and halted when he got in the middle where the water reached his chin so he got his hind legs into position and reared, kicking up the water and he bellowed to his lands help me make my choice, help me decide who will be my lead mare he called and then turned and galloped back to land.
He halted as he reached the banks and his wet coat gleamed in the light sorry about that he said and walked toward her I guess, your looking for a mate, I am right am I not? he said and smiled before shaking and water sprayed everywhere and he smiled as now his fur was all sticking up on end like he had just been electricuted.

"Yes I am." Aleena said while laughing at is fur. She smiled at him thinking of when he galloped in the water reminding her of alittle foal. "May I ask what you meant by choosing a lead mare?" She trotted next up next to him and asked " You do know you look like you got struck by lighting because of your fur."She teased lightly. She smiled and walked in the water alittle ways and sighed happily at the coolness. " You remind me of little colts the way you gallop in the water."She remarked with a teasing glint in her eye. "As I said earlier yes i am looking for a mate i've been alone for awhile so I decide I should settle down abit."

Mona trotted through the lands, searching for Batty. She wanted to talk to him, seeing as they could possibly become mates. She glanced around, finding the scent of him, and another mare. As she neared the pair, her ears flattened against her head. You sure fooled me. She shook her head. Why did I trust him? With my heart. She felt her legs go numb, they felt like jelly under her.
Her mind raced a million miles per hour. Maybe he was just meeting this mare? Maybe it's a sibling or family member. Maybe he doesn't like her at all. In Mona's mind that's what she wanted to believe, but her heart was saying otherwise. She'd been nice, she'd offered herself to him, and he'd led her on, and shot her down. I trusted you.

Aleena smelled a new scent coming toward her. She flatten her ears and turned to see a mare standing there. So this is what Batty meant by who should he choose to be lead mare. The mare looked heartbroken. Aleena felt alittle bad for her but pushed the thought aside and silently thought well if the mare thought she would be his one and only mare than she must be naive. For Aleena only knew one stallion that had land and had one mate which happened to be Aleena's father. She wondered what would happen next.

Batty saw Mona and smiled but his smile quickly faded as she talked Mona please, I had already met Aleena when you turned up here he said and sighed before stepping back and looking at both mares I don't know what to do, I have two mares wanting me, wanting to be lead mare and I don't know what to do as whatever I do, one of you loses he said and a tear ran down his face.
He didn't try to draw the tears back this time, all he wanted to do was let the mares decide it for themselves sort it out between you as one of you can be lead mare, the other can be Duchess he said and stepped back some more, forgetting the lake was behind him he stepped into the water and after a huge splash he was underwater...

Mona glanced over at the other mare. I'm not here to fight you mare, you can calm down. She turned her attention back to Batty. She shook her head, and searched his eyes for something that would draw her to him again. She came up empty. I'd like to take this time to say I'm formally leaving this herd and I never want to speak to you or see you again.
Mona turned her head back to the other mare. I also apologize in advanced for the heartbreak this stallion will make you experience. If you were smart, you'd leave now too. Mona said bitterly. She should have never trusted such a horrible stallion.
She turned and swished her tail, preparing to trot away and never return. Batty would never know the horrible way he'd made her feel.

Aleena looked at him sadlyas tears came down his face. When he slipped underwater she galloped over and hurrilyput her head under his and lifted his head to the suface to let him breathe. She than started to swim back to land with his head on her's even though it made it hard for her to breathe. When they got on land she asked worrily, "Can you breathe ok? Are you alright?" She shok the water off her and nuzzled him comfortly. Forgetting about the mare,Mona and everything else besides Batty.

Batty felt her and he felt her drag him to the surface, to solid ground. He coughed a little and opened his eyes and then saw Mona, turning to leave so he slowly lifted his soaked head thanks Aleena he said and looked back at Mona Mona, wait, please he called out and tried to struggle to his feet again.
He felt like a colt trying to stand for its first time and just like a colt Batty failed to lift his weight off the ground and he fell to the ground again with a thud. He shifted about, dirt was clinging to his coat but he didn't care please Mona, its not my fault and don't hate me Mona, I... he started and then cleared his throat I LOVE YOU! he shouted and then coughed when he stopped shouting.

Mona rolled her eyes and kept on trotting. She didn't care anymore. He'd hurt her in a way she couldn't explain. He'd betrayed her and used her. Oh god, just let him drown. She cantered towards the way she'd came. I can't believe you'd have the nerve to think I'd ever be part of your stupid herd, let alone Duchess. Your just like the dark stallions. You a horrible being, and you should just drown. Her temper was pouring out, but she refused to let them see her weak.
She galloped quickly towards the exit of this herd. she could smell the scent borders now, and she ran faster, trying to escape. She was passing over the border, and when she was on the other side, she finally stopped.
Her legs soon gave out and she lay on the ground outside the border and wept bitterly. I hate him. He turns me down, then he says he lvoes me. Oh god, why is he playing with my head?

Aleena helped him up even when he said he loved the other mare. She called to the mare "Mona I may not know you but if you cared for Batty as you said you did than come here. Or I'll drag you." She turned to Batty and whispered to Batty "Take care of her. Dont mess it up. Good-bye." She started to trot as her hert started to break

Now pure guilt seemed to set in with Mona, all though it wasn't her fault. She'd simply been looking for a herd and a mate. She didn't know what to feel. She felt horrible for Aleena, because only moments ago, she'd felt the same way. She felt furious and in love with Batty. He'd really hurt her, but she couldn't deny her feelings for him. It was all just so confusing.
What do I do? She stopped crying, her eyes were trained on Batty, looking to him for what she was supposed to do. She didn't know if she should demand Aleena stay and be mates with him, or if she should go over and accept him as her mate. She knew what she wanted, but what about the others. What did Batty want? She knew what Aleena wanted, but did Mona really want another enemy? Or to be alone again?

Batty watched both mares leave and him left alone on the ground no, not both of you now, please, please he wept and sighed before slowly getting to his feet and walking out and toward Mona, he saw her lying on the ground and his sighed Mona, she has left me just like you now he whispered and walked up to her.
He lied down beside her and nuzzled her neck we both now how we feel about each other and call me a dark again and I will kill you he said softly and smiled. He was not angered that she called him dark at all, he knew she was mad and when people are mad they do things they don't wish to do. You may go Mona, but change your mind and you will always have a place here.
He saw Aleena and smiled at her Don't go Aleena, you both should be my lead mare, only if I could arrange that he said and thought about it come back, both of you, I am sure we can arrange something he said and looked at both of them you need rest and you can sleep in Mountain Springs for the night at least so come please he said.

Mona sighed heavily, her sides huffing. I want to be your mate Batty, I really do. I just don't want to get hurt again. She whispered, her voice so low it was hard for her to hear herself.
As he rose and trotted off to Aleena, she didn't know what to do. If he wanted Aleena, he should have her. Even if it hurt Mona, she could pick herself up and dust herself off eventually. She had met Vastos too, and he seemed nice enough. She could join his herd, or she could just end everyone's misery by walking into the lake and never returning. It would work for everyone, Aleena and Batty could be together forever, and Mona would feel no pain ever again. What about Vastos? What about Batty? She asked herself, although she couldn't convince herself it would be that horrible for either.

There would be only three of us. Mona and I would be miserable watching you be with the other. We can't deal with the pain." She finished sadly and nuzzled him one last time. "You love her not me. You have only feelings for me I am I right?" She than turned to Mona and said "Accept his forgiveness and hold on to him for life is short. I've seen your lind of love before it reminds me very much of the love between my mother and father but your love is'nt that strong...yet. Accept him." Aleena than turned back to the exit for a long walk back to loneliness

Mona was taken over by a massive wave of guilt. Thank you, I'm sorry we had to meet on these terms. I hope you can find some way to forgive me. Mona turned to Batty and she approached him. She studied him for a long moment, and could feel the same old feelings she'd felt for him when she'd first met him.
Batty, please forgive me for the things I said. You know I didn't mean them, I just thought you didn't care about me. I love you very much, and I would like nothing more then to be your mate. if only you can find some way to forgive me for what I did. Mona whispered quietly to him. She loved him and she couldn't deny that, despite her best efforts. This was who she was, and who she'd always be. She just needed a chance.
