Kohia stood by the river, in her new land, watching her ever changing reflection. She sighed. It was nice to have her own land at last. She knew she would have to find a stallion to rule with her eventually, to help protect her land, and to keep the non-existant herd safe. She also knew that she would need other horses in the herd, as a bigger herd, ment a stronger herd.
She dipped her head, and drunk the clean, fresh water. The sound of the waterfall bounced off the cliffs and the mountains. She starterd to walk into the open grass land. It would be perfect to raise a herd. Lots of water, plenty of grass...all she needed was a stallion and a herd. She felt alone, and knew that soon, this land would be taken from her by another horse, if she didn't find one quickly.

Bay shire cantered easily through the lands. Feathered daggers smashed the drying lands mercilessly, much to his dismay. Why should his body have to leave such horrible markings? He wished desperately to be lighter on his hooves. Oh well. Stallion moved in a rocking horse fashion, finally reaching a beautiful land.
Far off, he had scented that of a mare, a young nymph. She was in season, being the reason why her scent was so strong. He sighed, knowing he needed to find a mare and herd to lead. He would not be second or third best to another stallion.
A golden body came into sight.
"Ah, young lass, I am sorry to intrude on your thoughts, but what is your blessing?"
The stallion quizzed, being as polite as possible. He reached the palomino and stood proudly, head high.
"I am 'Strike My Fancy', but you may call me Strike."

Kohia turned to see a handsome stallion. He was tall, and of a dark bay, with feathered hooves. Her icey pools looked him up and down. He was a lot bigger that she was. The exact opposite of her. She was small, delicate, and of a golded sheen. He was large, powerful, and of a mahogany sheen.
"I am blessed Kohia, Strike" she said, lifted her head up, to look at the stallions face. It crossed her mind that this stallion may only be here, because of the fact she was in season. But he did smell like light, although she caught a hint of dark. She herself was ashamed of her past. Her father was almost certainly a dark, and sometimes she could feel that inside of her. She tossed her head, her creamy white tressles flowing down her elegant neck.
"What brings a stallion such as youself to my lands?" she asked .

The stallion felt his dark, suggestive side bubbling up, much to his dismay. He snorted and arched his neck, trying to get the thoughts away from him. He was shocked. This had never happened, but then again, he had never been around an in season mare. He cleared his throat.
"Ah, beautiful name, Kohia."
He said softly, stamping at the earth with a fore-hoof. He circled her momentarily, stallion instincts taking over, but he overcame them and forced himself back to her face. He smiled slightly at then golden-hued mare. She was much smaller that himself, very beautiful and delicate.
"I am here to find a herd.."
How pathetic that sounded. He snorted and moved forwards slightly, moving slightly faster in trying to claim her than usual. All horses, lights and darks alike, acted this way. He rested his muzzle on her shoulder softly. He pulled back and dark eyes stared at her.

Kohia's ice blue pools flashed. So he was here to find a herd? She watched him as he circled her, her pools never leaving him. She wasn't acting her usual self. Generally around strange horses she was full of spirit, and was hard. For a light mare, she was remarkably full of attitued.
"Well you won't find one here. My lands have no herd, and are empty, apart from me. I have no stallion, and so, my herd is non existant, for now"
She spoke in a soft, but strong voice. Her pools were unmoving, still resting on his large form. She sighed as he rested his head on her shoulder. In her mind she laughed. Such a sight must have funny if watched by a third party. A great big shire, resting his head on a small mare shoulder. She watched him, waiting for what he would do next.

"I won't? But I would think you would be trying to start a herd on your land!"
He exclaimed, looking surprised. She was hard to read, her body language either ever-changing or a very well kept secret. He pondered what to say next, letting his body do the talking until he was ready. He stood back from her, eyes staring at the great azure heavens. His eyes came to rest on a cloud that was shaped oddly.
"I would be willing to help you."
He finally said, staring at her, eyes hard and serious. No, he would not love her yet, but he could help her collect mares and stallions for the herd. Maybe, just maybe, he could end up lead stallion and find a relationship with this mare. He sighed softly and dug at the soft ground that hardened slowly. The unforgiving heat of summer was starting to show, the beams bouncing off his coat, giving Strike a unearthly appearance.

Kohia's pale gold ears flickered. So he would be willing to help would he? Kohia wandered what that was supposed to mean, weather he was proposing to be a lead stallion, or just help her find horses for currant non-existent herd.
"You would be willing to help me?"
She said with her ice blue pools piercing into him. She was always like this with strange horses, though she wasn't being as harsh as she usually was. After all, he was a light stallion, which in her mind, made a lot of difference to the way she treated a horse.
"And what is that supposed to mean?"
She asked, lifting her head, so that she could look directly into his eyes. Her delicate hoof lifted and struck the soft earth, as a blood sucker attacked her underside. A light breeze picked up, lifting her white banner, making it ripple.

Strike kept himself calm, trying to answer the questions shot at him. He exhaled softly and stepped back, flowing whipcord eliminating the endless flow of pests. He let hid head drop momentarily as he took a mouthful of the yellowing blades.
"Aye. That is what I said."
He stated calmly, knowing that she was holding back her suspicions for the moment. He eyed her slightly, taking pleasure in this beautiful golden mare. He squared himself slightly, showing off his form, huge head held high and arched as he talked.
"Of course, I would expect some sort of.. let say.. thanks for helping you. Maybe a position within the herd?"
He declared softly, letting his stinginess soften, saying what he wanted discreetly. Two toned beast smiled softly, knowing he did not act like what a 'light' was supposed to be. Truth was, he had had dark parents but leaned to the lights, making him very mixed and turned away by most.

Kohia's icy blue pools softened a little. She knew what he was after, had had since he had arrived there. She was rather more aggressive than most light's. After all, one half of her came from the dark side.
"A Place in the herd? And what place did you have in mind?" She asked with a little more friendliness in her tone. She was beginning to grow on this stallion. True, he was as easy to read as a foal, but in a way, that reasured Kohia. She was good at seeing through other horses, and was very good at telkling what was on their mind. It was all down to the way they acted, and their body language.
She sipped her golden head, and nibbled at the grass for a bit, before raising her it again to look at the stallion. It occoured to her that Strike was a human bred horse, or at least, someone directly related to him was, as shires didn't naturally roam free. But oddly, this didn't bother Kohia.

Strike noticed that Kohia's stance relaxed slightly as he spoke his last words. She was warming up to him, most likely. He smiled brightly and not faking it, bowed his head to her.
"That is for you to decide, is it not?"
He questioned softly, tresses hiding his dark pools. He watched her study his actions, and he knew he was giving himself away easily. His stance told more than words could say, but the mare across from him told nothing. It was blank and carefully poised.
Mahogany facade lessened on the smile as she studied him. It was true, his parents were both human bred, but ran away together. He smirked slightly, showing he had figured out what she was thinking.
"Yes, I'm directly from human lines, but does that really matter? My parents ran away as young'ins."
When she dipped her head, he did the same, taking the tips of the blades away.

Kohia looked right into his dark pools. Her thoughts were racing. He was so large compared to her, but that didn't bother her. A breeze picked up , and orange and brown leaves surrounded her. She raised her self up on her hind legs, intil she was as tall as he was.
"I suppose so"
She said, with her lead level with his. She gave nothing away. Not a trace. Her body language was blank, and you could read nothing from it. She was good at that sort of thing. She could feel the wind getting colder, and knew that winter would be here soon.
"Your from Dark lines aren't you?"
She said, conversationally. It wasn't harsh, as she was as well, and she could still smell traces of Dark on his coat. She came back to the ground, and shook herself. She put her head down again, and took a few mouthfuls of grass, before looking back up again.

Kohia looked magical as she raised herself on her hind-legs. The winter leaves swirled around her, making her look like a wood nymph. A slight, unsure smile crossed Strike's face. This mare had power, despite her stature. She would not back down to just anyone.
"You're not sure?"
He quizzed, eyes raised to the heavens, not looking straight at the nymph in front of him. Her sudden power frightened him slightly, though he did not let this show, obviously. He could not be intimidated my a little golden mare, no offense to her.
"Yes, why? It really does not matter. What matters is the heart within the blood."
She seemed a bit restless. He stood there, letting her think things over. His thoughts wandered into a daydream land, where he ruled this land beside Kohia in a happy union. He was becoming restless, stallion hormones raising themselves up as the wind changed directions, bringing Kohia's sent with it.
He had not noticed that she was in season until this moment. Snorting loudly, he arched his neck.

Kohia raised her head, level with his. Her icy pools looking into his head once again. Oh she was sure alright, but she felt like playing with him some more.
"Oh yes, I am sure"
She said, still giving nothing away, as to what was going on behind the blue pools. She smirked when she saw the realisatin pass over his face. Had he only just noticed? She could see that the hint of darkness in his blood, did not show. If it did, the only reason he would be here, was because of the fact that she was in season.
"Ahh yes, but the blood still carries, and will always carry dark. Even if it's only a little bit. No matter how kind hearted you are, parts of you history are still running through your veins."
She paused for a second, letting her words sink in. The parts of her that were dark, only showed themselves when she was angry, or near humans. Then she really did get evil. But that very rarely happend. Probably only about once or twice a year. The rest of the time, she was light, and would always be light. It was her true instinct, but she couldn't help her past.
"After all, I would know"
She said, with a slight smile. She breathed in the coll winter air. Snow was starting to fall. Soon it would settle, and her lands would be a white winter wonderland, and the pool would freeze over.

Strike watched her icy pools as they became level with his own. Slight mischief danced behind her carefully opaque eyes. You could barely see what she was thinking, it was like peeking through blinds at a party and only seeing silhouettes.
"You do like to keep people waiting, don't you?"
He asked, somewhat rhetorically. Strike noticed that she was searching him for something, probably the dark personality that most darks had. But, he was not a dark. He was a light with dark parents.
"I find that history doesn't count in the least. It's how to carry the burden of your history, not the history itself."
He stated his opinion firmly, straightening himself up. His dark side never really showed besides that he flirted and had more personality that a usual light stallion. Why couldn't the darks and lights live together in perfect harmony? Why did they have to fight?
"Yes, as would I."
He spoke, now noticing a stronger dark scent than what he had first scented.

Kohia relaxed again. She was done searching him. She did it with every horse. She had to know what was about them, because she didn't trust a horses word, even her own mothers. She had learned to read when a horse was lieing or not, and this horse didn't seem to be one to lie.
"Maybe so. But you get what you have from your parents. There must have been some light in one of them. My mother shows in me, although I have my fathers pigment. You wouldn't be who you are if it wasn't for them"
She said, looking up at the sky. She felt the air warm. Sping was just around the corner, though the snow was yet to come. Her thick, pale gold sheen would start to shed, and the smooth summer coat would show. She looked over her lands, with pride. Soon the lands would have horses dotted around, and foals would be prancing around, caucing havoc. She looked back toward Strike, her icey pools relaxed now, and not piercing as they had been.
