The small mare trotted tentatively into the territory, curiousity
flickering across the dainty features of the fae's young face.
Lightly dappled buckskin flanks shone in the afternoon sun,
bright, glistening eyes shadowed by a generous, fluffy forelock
of a rich red-brown color, matching her tail.
Each dagger ended in a faded stocking, brown-grey and reaching
to around the knee. Her muzzle was also a soft grey-brown.
She was, obviously, young. Mare looked to have lived around
three years, mature enough, but her orbs projected a youthful,
innocent quality more befitting to a year-old filly.
She was in good condition,
just enough weight on her to reassure that she'd been in a herd up until recently.
She shifted her weight from one side to the other,
glistening orbs gazing wistfully up at the mid-day sun.
Her nares flare, catching the scent of sweet, sweet water.
She followed her nose to the stream, it's clear burbling water
drawing her toward it like a magnet.
Checking quickly for other horses or predators, she didn't
see any and bent her head to drink, dark, thick strands of mane
falling over her carefully bent arch. Cool water soothed her
throat as she drank, parching her thirst.
Coming up quickly, she checked again for signs of life before
lifting her dial and walking gently over to a small tree
in the clump of vegetation that seemed to be alone in it's green
bounty.
Resting her shoulder against it, she let herself daydream,
orbs fading out of focus as she let her gaze wander into the clear
blue sky. She was soon in her own world, not paying the least
attention to the strange land she'd wandered into.
