The golden hued frame trotted into a lush area, her dancers barely touching the emerald blades beneath her. Her boa arched and threw itself around in glee, and her plumage switched along behind her. Orlene was excited, hoping today was the day. Everyday, the golden-hued femme came, everyday leaving unhappily.
The mare had a feeling today, telling her that this was it. She would finally find a kind stallion, who would respect and love her. Orlene's tresses danced along her nape, bouncing around like they were alive. Her bad eye flicked back and forth, searching for a blur of a silhouette. The good eye searched for a clear silhouette, and together the orbs worked fine for the mare.
Many a stallion had turned her down because of her eye. They thought of her as worthless, thinking they would have to provide for her because of this slight setback. An angry snort left the fae's delicate nares.
"I, Orlene, am here waiting for my savior." She whinnied to the heavens.

Dreaded valley. The stallion snorted indignantly. He had been coming here for months and had yet to find a mare that would come with him. What was it that scared them away? He was normal. A buckskin coat with dark chocolate hued orbs. Nothing marred his flashy golden coat. There was no problem with him. Yet there always seemed to be some stud that would come in and sweep the mare off her feet. Some stallion that had it all and had all to give. The golden hued stag's crown slightly lowered in shame. He had no land. Perhaps thought, just maybe he would fight for land. A small smile spread across his maw at the thought. Yes just maybe he would have a land of his own some day.
Stilts picked along carefully as he trotted through the valley. Pistons flinging up higher than usual in a happy prance. Ebonite banner flashing gaily behind him. Liquid pools that searched the land also had an excited sparkle in them. A happy, almost coltish neigh left his maw as he tossed his crown happily. Muscles worked smoothly under his golden painted pelt as he searched, for love? For companionship? For just a mare in his herd? The young stallion had no idea. Yet he searched.
Orbs spotted a golden equine shape ahead of him. A call, a sweet melodious sound like music, met his attentive harks. A grin spread across his maw. Stilts flashing faster till they carried him toward the femme in a gallop. When he wasn't far from the golden hued fae he paused. One stilt still stretched forward to take another prancing step. Hesitantly he let the piston drop to the ground. The femme was like him. Golden in color. Yet she was different. Black was on him yet white was on her. She was beautiful. He breathed silently, erratically. "I am Vastos, may I acquire as to your name?" The vocals slipped startlingly loud form his maw. Clamping his mouth shut he fidgeted while waiting for her answer.

Orlene's tiara was dropped to the emerald blades, delicately snapping them off. Her plumage swept across her back every now and again, taking the flies with it. The golden harks pricked up slightly at the scent of a stallion, but she did not lift her head. Suspecting that it was just another dark that would try and force-claim her, she snorted loudly with her back turned towards him.
When the galloping echoes became closer, her ears swiveled and curiosity got the better of herself. As her tiara turned, a gasp escaped the velvety kissers. A golden, much like herself, stood a bit away. He was obviously light, because of the way happiness wove between each step.
His vocals reached her sensitive harks. "I am Orlene." She stated, staring quizzically at the stallion. His tresses and banner were blackened, not white like many goldens. The flicka's nares took in his scent, making her shiver with pleasure.
"What are you doing here?" She inquired.

The stallion stood fidgeting as he awaited the words of the femme. Harks tilted forward anxiously as if he was cueing her to speak. Liquid pools flashed back and forth and he shifted his weight constantly from hoof to hoof. Crown tilted to the side and ebony tresses fell off his nape and lay motionless in the still air. One piston stretched out and he pawed at the dirt. Though not from impatience. Merely he was frightened. Well perhaps this was the reason he never got mares. He got nervous when he tried to claim one. He was humble and kind yet he was a nervous wreck.
When the femme didn't turn around as he approached he grew worried. Was she a dark that was just ignoring him so that he would go away. That had happened plenty of times. Nares shivered as the scent of the golden hued femme entered his nares. Excitement raced through his frame before he could calm himself. Finally a sigh left his velvet kissers as she turned around. Eyes widened in surprise as she gasped when she saw him. Was there something wrong with him? That thought had seriously been disturbing him all day.
"A... ah... A pretty name" Well wasn't that just wonderful! He had started stuttering and he had just met her! He felt like kicking himself. Of course that would have made him look like a nut case. Opening his maw quickly he responded to her question. "To um... find a mare.." If equines could blush he was sure he would be doing just that. It felt terrible to say those words out loud. Like he was some greedy dark or something that didn't care for those he claimed.

The stallion was obviously nervous, which made Orlene break into a smile. "No need to be nervous! I don't bite!" She exclaimed happily, buoyant youth taking over. She tossed her tiara and her creme tresses flew up and landed softly onto her nape.
She snorted, holding back her giggles, as he started to stutter. She pursed her lips and made a quiet 'tsk tsk' noise, teasing him. Dark and azure pools studied him, but not like darks would study one another. She studied him for his goodness, hoping that he was a true light.
The femme's brow furrowed as he replied like many other stallions, but she liked how he said it honestly. He did not try to hide it behind seduction and tempting, and he did not hit on her. She smiled sincerely, knowing that if she were to ever find someone, it would be him.
Responding to his statement on her name, she said, "Ah, thank you. My mother gave it to me.." She trailed off, pools showing soft sadness stirring in their depths.

The stallion gave the femme a small smile that steadily widened at her words. Shaking his boa he watched the mare from under his forelock. Stamping one piston he let out a low nicker, maw vibrating slightly from the silent sound.
His golden crown dipped slightly in a nod with a smile upon his veneer. "You like to laugh, Orelene?" He asked her with a small smirk on his velvet kissers. The femme was fun and liked to laugh. Where as he was more serious but could still have a good time. Perhaps, a good combination. The idea brought a small sparkle to his liquid pools as he continued to watch her. Tossing his crown to the side, the movement removed the tresses that marred his vision of the femme fatale.
"Your mother had good taste" The vocals slid from his maw much easier now. No longer stuttering and being completely shy. His compliment was sincere as he watched her with a happy smile upon his facade. Trotting over to a small pond her dipped his cranium and took a sip of the refreshing crystal clear liquid. The water slid down his parched throat and seemed to freshen the stallion up a bit.

Orlene's own smile widened as Vastos's did too. She had finally broken his shell, seen the true him. The maiden believed you good tell what another equine was like from their eyes and smiles. That was why darks never smiled.
"Of course." She said softly, watching as Vastos's eyes sparkled. She stared at him quizzically, but did not say something. She tried to reach his mind with her own, think what he was thinking. She sighed. That could only happen if they joined bodies, creating a foal. His ebonite tresses made him look beautiful and mysterious.
"Has. She's still around. I know it." She corrected him. Her stare penetrated his perfect eyes. She followed him to the pond, and stopped beside him. She let her shoulder just barely touch his own shoulder, but just enough to let her ease her temptation a bit. She let her crani drop to the cool liquid and watched him out of the corner of her eye.

The stallion dipped his head slightly at her words. Though his lyrics had been worded as a question they hadn't been. Just from her actions it had been obvious she liked to laugh. Which was a good thing. Laughter lightened tense surroundings. His smile tilted into a slight smirk as she looked at him in a silent question. After that he wasn't sure what she was trying to do. The smirk lessened into a small smile as he watched her with confusion. Shaking his boa he changed his gaze to the grass between his hooves.
His smile widened as she corrected his statement. "Of course she is" The smile carrying over into the tone of his words. If she believed it, so did he. But from the way she said it, it made him believe some others thought otherwise. What had happened? He couldn't help but be curious, it was just a natural thing. Something that always happened and he just had to get used to. As she looked him in the eyes he didn't look away. A small smile on his velvet kissers as he marveled at the beauty of the golden maiden.
His skin seemed to be electrified as her shoulder grazed his. As the liquid slid down his throat he continued to watch the mare. Not trying to make it look like he wasn't. Once he had drunk his fill he lifted his crown. Crystal droplets of water sliding of his kissers and falling to the pond. Ripples in the once perfectly still pond, marring the image of the femmes beauty.

Orlene watched him, her multi-hued pools piercing his veneer. He glowed very brightly, meaning to her that he would be a great stallion through anything. She smiled as his smile broadened.
Her eyes narrowed slightly as she stared at the horizon, but returned to him as he started talking. "You didn't believe that before I said it, did you?" She asked curiously, not angrily. Many horses thought she has a sixth sense, but Orlene believed that it was just because she observed. They thought she was physic or had some kind of magic.
The femme's heart sank, knowing that the stallion did not know about her good eye. Many stallions would drive her off as soon as she said this, since it was a genetic problem. She turned that side of her veneer towards him. "My eye.." She started stuttering, then dropped her head to the ground, knowing he had seen it now.

"No, you just didn't specify so I wasn't sure. You looked sad when you mentioned her, so I assumed. And now I disagreeuming has gotten me into trouble." He gave her a small smile, trying to lighten the mood. "I suppose that teaches me to never assume anything." He tossed his massive head with a sigh. He hadn't meant to make such a stupid statement. His acoustics pricked forward and he watched her curiously from under his ebony forelock. A faint smile lay on his black velveteens and his attention remained on Orlene. A unique name, no doubt. He liked her already, and hoped that she would join his herd in Painted Forests.
Vastos's head tilted in a confused show, she appeared quite sad for some reason or another. He honestly didn't like to see anyone sad. It was in his nature to try to make people feel better, and watching someone as kind as Orlene, in pain, physical or emotional it made no difference, broke his heart. When she dipped her head down and turned her head, he spotted her other eye. And then she started trying to say something. "My eye" "Is beautiful" He finished for her.
