Axel stepped into his new territory and tossed his ebony mane before galloping across the sand and galloping into the middle of the lake. He stopped ind reared high before bellowing loudly into the air "I Axel and my mare Dysnmoia now shall claim this land as our own". He dropped down and splashed into the water before ducking down and disspearing under the surface.
He splashed back up, his coat gleaming as it was wet and in some powerful strides he was back and on the sand. He looked around and saw a stony path so he walked up and it turned around and then he reached the top. The sight was beautiful as it looked over the whole land and he could see across the border of his lands. A cave was behind him so he stepped inside. It was lovly and dark, perfect for him, Dysnomia and all of the royalty to fit in so he decided it would be for royalty only.
He stepped back out and walked to the other end and stood, overlooking Anse De Dragon. He neighed again but didn't dare rear as it was quite high even though it was wide it wasn't the longest thing in the world. "Dysnomia" he called "up here". He waited for the mare to come and see his discovery so they could stay in shelter.

Dysnomia looked around the land that was now hers. Her rusty sheen looked startling againsed the yellow sand. She took in a deep breath of the cool, winter breeze. In her minds eye, she could see the future herd. Small foals prancing, mares and stallions alike, spread out across the land, while the royalty relaxed else where. Her pools scanned the landscape. She could still smell traces from the last herd.
She looked up to see Axel at the top of a rock ledge. She tossed her white splashed head, and cantered up to where the ebony figure was standing. She glanced around the cool, dark cave. It was perfect. This would be the place for the royals. She stepped inside, and sniffed the walls. Faint traces of other horses could still be found, but she could soon sort that out.
"This land is ours. We need to find more horses, to make the herd complete."
She said to Axel. The land was huge, and could inhabit many horses. Now all they needed where those horses. Now was the best time to find them, as young horses would be looking for permanant herds.

Axel nodded and then looked at her "you search for the stallions, I will search for the mares" he said and smiled "but the easiest way to get some members involves you and me" he said and winked before walking into the cave and smelt the scent of the last herd but he ignored it and walked around.
He felt thirsty so he cantered down the rocky path and galloped toward the lake. He drunk happily and swished his ebony tail before raising his head and galloping around the lake. He skidded to a halt and looked up. He saw small shoots of grass springing up near the lake and smiled "grass will soon be here" he whispered and took another drink of water.
The sun was high in the sky and the temprature was rising so Axel quickly galloped up the rocky path. He got to the top and stepped into the cave and into the shade "aah, coolness at last" he laughed and looked around before looking at Dysnomia "so, what do you think of a foal..."

A foal...
It was huge commitment, to have and rear a foal. Although she knew to build a strong, successful herd, a foal was necessary. Still. It was big thing, having a foal. She let the thought sink in.
"A foal would be vital for the herds survival"
She said, speaking nothing but the truth. But if she were to have a foal, they would need another mare first. Dark stallions were only interested in mares in season. She would need a duchess, before an heir.
"But first, we need a Duchess. Dark stallions are only interensted in mares on heat. Mares will always come into the herd before stallions"
She said. She knew he probably already knew this, but she was just getting the point across. More horses were needed before foals, otherwise other horses could take over easily. They need their numbers to rise.
"You go look for the mares, while I charm the stallions" she said, with a glint in her eye. She had a dark mind, and it worked logically. She knew how the dark minds worked, and could easily rope a stallion into anything of she tried.

Axel smiled of thinking of charming some mares "your right as always, darling" he said and paced back and forth from the cave to the edge of the rocks where he could look. He then stopped at looked over the land. He imagined the land with horses everywhere, behind him was Dysnomia and some adult horses and a foal. He pictured himself standing there, happily with the wind blowing his mane and tail widly while he stood still.
He stepped into the cave and looked at Dysnomia again "grass is growing, I see shoots near the lake" he said and smiled happily. Everything was going to plan for him at the moment, he had a mare, land and now all he needed was the herd and he was done. Everything was lovly in the land now and it will always stay like that as Axel would never let his land, their land get out of control.

Dysmonia stepped out of the cave, and looked out, toward the lake. From the distance she was at, she could see nothing. No smidgen of green. She trotted down the stony path, rusty banner held up high behind her, and on to the soft, fine sand. She trotted on toward the lake, and stopped at the edge. She looked down at the ground. Sure enough, tiny shoots of what would soon be long, lush green grass.
"I see it!"
She called up to Axel. This was perfect. Just what was needed for a successful herd. She felt a serge of energy, and broke into a canter. Her head was held high, her banner streaming put behind her, and her tresses flying in the wind. She had never felt more free than she did now. She breathed in the cold winter air. Soon snow would be falling. She could feel in it the air.

Axel laughed and galloped down the rocky pathway toward her. "Dysnomia, I may have our Duchess, her name is Maia and she is a pretty mare and waiting to have foals so is is time for us?" he said and looked deep into her eyes. He imagined the foal, a beautiful little foal, a colt prehaps but a filly would do as he could be the next Queen. He hoped that Maia's foal was a filly and Dysnomia's a colt but only time would tell of what he got.
"Would you want a filly or a colt?" he asked and then tossed his ebony mane and took a drink of water, even though they were in the desert it still snowed but it mostly melted as soon as it touched the ground, or at night it would lay and melt in the morning. He sniffed the air and knew snow was coming so he smiled and looked back at his mare, the most beautiful mare on this earth and he knew it as well as she did.

Dysnomia smiled at the though of having a Duchess so quickly. But it was still early days. They still needed a Duke. Now they had two mares, they had double chance of getting stallions. But she hadn't forgotten about a foal. The prospect was still daunting, but she nodded.
"In order for this herd to be successful, a foal is needed"
She said, not letting any emotions show. After all, a foal wasn't that big a deal. She thought his last question over. A colt would be useful as an heir, but a filly would also be useful. A filly, she decided, would be her preferance.
"I would want a filly"
She said, raising her head slightly. She wandered what the foal would look like. Would it be black, like Azel, or sabino, like herself. Or perhaps a completely differnt colour all togeather. Only time would tell, what this foal would be.

(should I make a post on the foals board?)
Axel smiled as she said the words and then the smile widened into a grin "oh my, thank you Dysnomia, your the greatest...well you tie with me anyway" he said and laughed. He swished his tail and trotted around the lake before looking at her "imagine, she could be a black sabino" he said and imagined a black sabino galloping around the lands and sleeping peacefully on Royal Rock, in the cave.
He snapped back into reality when she said she wanted a filly "I wanted a colt but I 'spect a filly would do, she would be a beautiful Queen" he laughed again and shook his head "trust us to disagree" and he laughed again. Axel took another drink from the lake and then lifted his head, water dripping from his chin. He walked toward Royal Rock and ficked his tail "coming?" he said and at that moment little snowflakes started to drift down from the air. He shuddered as it was getting colder "best get into that cave quick before it gets too cold" he said and started to trot.

Dysnomia tossed her head. A fill ywas what she wanted, but she knew a colt would be just as important. Any way, time would tell, weather they would get the futre queen, or future king.
"Either way, we would have an heir"
She said, following him up to Royal Rock. She thought of a black sabino. It would be beautiful, whatever colour it was, she was certain. After all, in her mind, if a foal came from her, it would always be beatiful. Of course, the more beautiful, the more likely it would be chased about by wrangers. Dysnomia would teach it how to run, and fight. She had done her fair share of tricking humans.
"You say you have found a duchess?"
She asked, interested. She wanted to know what she was like. Weather she was pure dark, or just a horse that wanted to be dark. She stepped inside the cave after Axel, away from the falling snow.

Axel smiled and nodded "of course" he said and swished his tail, he watched her and then his smile widened "they would be the strongest of foals, with us as parents" he laughed and then swatted the flies of his legs.
He followed her into the cave and then thought of Maia "Maia is a nice mare, she likes to lead so watch your back" he joked and smiled "she wants the lead mare position badly but she has to settle for duchess, she is grey with dapples and is a true dark so don't worry" he said and stretched his neck and shaking his mane when it was outstretched. He walked slowly around the cave and then galloped out and skidded to the end of the rock. He almost fell but luckily he didnt so he tossed his mane and stood "she is perfect for foals and a great addition to the herd but its getting her in that is the hard part".

Dysnomia felt a pain go through her body. She sank to the stone cave floor. The foal was coming. She breathed heavily, but didn't cry out. She knew that if she made a sound, predators would come, although Axel would fight them off, she wouldn't risk the danger.
Half an hour later, a tiny bay sabino filly, lay on the floor. Her eyes were closed, and she lay still, but she was breathing. Dysnomia got to her feet and shook herself. She bent her head to look at the foal, and nudge it to it's feet. She looked exactly like her, but instead of an auben banner, she had jet black, and her sheen was more of a mahogany red, rather than a rusty ginger colour. Her face was splashed with white, as were her legs. Her hooves were neat and black, like Axel's, and she had small ears. Dysnomia pushed her side and the foal opened her eyes. She mooved her legs, to try and get up of the cold stone floor, but couldn't find the strength to stand. Dysnomia nudged her a few more times, and eventually the foal got to her feet.

Axel paced around the lake and then waded in until the water came to his knees. He looked up at Royal Rock and imaginied Dysnomia with their foal, their beautiful daughter who would be the princess. He started to trot around in the lake and the water splashed with every stride he made but he didn't care as he was having fun and then he started to gallop in the water and he arched his neck forward and tried to go as fast as possible but the water slowed him down.
He started to step toward Royal Rock but stopped himself as he knew the foal was due today and he didn't want to burst in on her giving birth to the filly. He waited patiently and tossed his mane but part of him still had the urge to gallop up but he turned back and saw the grass which had spread to a green ring around the lake as the grass grew slow in the desert lands.

Dysnomia pushed her foal to the entrance of the cave, making her walk into the sunlight. She and the filly stepped out onto the ledge, and looked out across the land. The foals bay and white sheen, was soft, and fluffly, while Dysnomia's was sleek and smooth. Dysnomia could see Axel in the lake, the water splashing up under his belly. His black sheen was so different to his daughters, but there was something about the filly, that spoke of her father.
Dysnomia gave out a winnie, that rang through the land, and bounced off the cliffs. The filly coppied her mother, and let out a high pitched squeal. The filly studdied the land, that was her home. Yellow sand, with specks of green here and there. A lake, with fresh, clear water, sparkling in the summer sun. In the middle was a horse, like her mother, but larger, and jet black. She sent a small winnie to him, wondering who he was.

Axel looked up at Royal Rock and saw two dots, one bigger than the other. He heard he whinny and high pitches squeal so he galloped up the path and looked at his daughter and then at his mate. "Dysnomia, what did you name our beautiful Princess" he said and then nuzzled the filly lightly. He looked over the lands again and looked back at the filly.
"I am your dad, sweetheart" he said and smiled before standing beside her so their was Axel and Dysnomia with the foal in between them. "You are now the Princess of these lands, you shall be the leader when your mother...anyway" he said quickly as he didn't want to worry the foal now, she was far to young for that. He looked below and then smiled "how would you like a our of the lands, my dear" he said and nuzzled her before looking at Dysnomia and smiling.
