Ah, Tuesday, in fact, a day-and-a-half after he and Roxy had met in that coffee shop. Jerry Lee padded at his heels. The larger than usual Shepherd was obviously well taken care of, plus, he was very obedient, obviously a police dog as well. Ziggy chuckled as he entered the place, looking around calmly, he had once lived in a cabin to solve a case which he aptly named 'The Invisible Poacher' case. Yeah, someone was laying out poisoned food for designed to attract and be ingested by only certain animals (foxes, wolves and such) for their furs. He solved that one in less than a month. A great detective he was. The reason he waited a day and a half before he actually moved here was because he needed a while to ponder over the offer, but he obviously -liked- Roxy, so, why would he -possibly-say no? He looked around, obviously impressed by the furnishings, thinking such a small cabin would have less than this. Oh well, it was bigger than the other one, and he accepted that much. Rich though he was, he knew better than to ask for too much.
Jerry Lee padded around the cabin, sniffing anything he found interesting, then wandered around a little longer before heading back to Ziggy, Z, or Zig-Zag, whichever you wanted to call him, but nobody knew his real name: Ziggy A. Zarrodi, he lived by one rule with his name: Don't go around telling people your name needlessly. He sighed, sitting on an available bed and looked out the window absently.

Roxanne
Roxy was busy doing some paperwork, just trying to sort out the bills and such. There was a worried glint in her eye, she was having trouble with all the money problems. She sighed, running a hand through her hair and tried to clear her mind. Her dark coffee colored hair was neat, for one, and some of the curls framed her face. She had been this close to losing her ranch before, and she had been fine, but that didn't make it easier the next time it happened. Which, was now. She knew the reason that she was behind with bills, because of her mom. She grimaced, feeling the familiar throb in her chest when she was reminded of what had happened. She gritted her teeth and continued to work.
Some noises caused Roxy to break out of her concentration. A look of confusion covered her face as she stood to go check out what it was. She called her dog, Rage, to her, in case it was an intruder. The large Doberman around almost always made her safer. She walked into the other room, the one with the spare bed. Her eyes widdened as she saw Z sitting on the bed. She quickly remembered that she had offered him a place to stay. "Hey Z" She walked over, glancing down at Rage when he tugged on the dark denim capris that she was wearing. She patted him, then turned back to look at Z with a smile on her lips.

Z looked up when he heard her come in, looking slightly startled for a moment, then grinned, "Hey, Roxy, how's it going?" he asked, still smiling a bit. Jerry Lee, who laid at his feet, thudded his tail a bit against the floor. Z watched her calmly for a moment before asking "So, still free saturday night?" He asked, hopeful that she had decided weather she was definitely going anywhere or not on Saturday. Then he noticed that she looked somewhat worried "What's wrong, Rox?" He asked, getting up and walking over to her, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. He could -almost- sense that something was wrong, just by the way she looked. But, even if she said nothing was wrong, that wouldn't stop him, the great detective Z, from figuring out what was -really- wrong. Jerry Lee watched them calmly, wondering why his master was so worried about her.

Roxanne
She smiled in response to his grin, albeit, a tired, almost defeated smile. "It's going." She responded readily. She laid a hand on Rage's head, seeming to draw strength from the large, overly confident, canine. "Yeah." She answered his question with a sincere smile. It wasn't like she was going to back out of a date when she had, just a day ago, said yes.
Roxy flinched slightly when he laid a hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her. "Nothing" She answered passively, not wanting to worry him about her finance problems. "How's it going for you? Must be hard for a big city guy like you to be in such a small town." She questioned teasingly. Her eyes weren't bright with mischeif though... Rage whined, obviosly knowing that something was bothering his owner.

"OK, I can tell you're lying... for 2 reasons: 1: You said nothing was wrong, but the worried look on your face says otherwise. And 2: You changed the subject, like you're trying to distract me or something..." He said softly, gently resting the palm of his hand on her cheek, and pulled her close into a gentle hug. He must've been wearing some sort of vanilla scented calogne, because he smelled really, really sweet. His black-as-night eyes stared down into her chocolate brown ones. His eyes, although black, almost evilly black, and intimidating, were very honest., knowing, and reassuring to most people who looked into them. But soulless and terrifying to any criminal he caught. "Tell me..." He said gently, lifting her chin to look into his eyes with the tips of his fingers. And he said, "You can tell me, I could easily help you..." softly to her, trying to reassure her.

Roxanne
She looked up at him, smiling weekly as he gave her reasons that he knew she was lying. Roxy just didn't like unloading her problems on others, she didn't want them to worry about her. She looked down as she felt his hand encompassing her cheek. She bit her lip, the warmth of his hand radiating from his skin to hers. She felt him draw her closer, and didn't resist. Relishing the feel of being close to someone, she was able to smell his cologne, sweet and refreshing, almost like a spring day after a soft rain. She looked up at him, her brown eyes connecting with his black ones.
His prompting words reached her ears, but still she hesitated. She glanced up sharply as he said he could help her. Roxy was also very independent. She didn't want to take charity, and she felt very strongly on this issue. She didn't want his money, sympathy, or anything of the sort. Still, his dark eyes were calm and reassuring. So, she told him. "I'm having some financial issues" She mumbled softly. Looking up at him, embarrassed at what she was going through. Their proximity was also adding to that embarrassment. His face was so close to hers that it wouldn't take much for their lips to touch. She blinked as if shocked by the thought.

Rory had remarkable tenacity for a Texan attempting to keep his footing on the snow and the mud that was just an inch away from his boots. Rain and snow kept switching places, and that made the ground more treacherous than usual. but he was accustomed to having his feet firmly on the ground, even if his head was half-buried in red leaves and green stalks. It was winter, and that meant poinsettias. The one ounce of color in a Texan Christmas, when all of the blue bonnets and the wildflowers were hidden under the ground along with the prairie dogs.
Now, he simply jounced along the snow, feeling brighter than he had in months. That was him, swinging like a pendulum from the pensive mood of rain to the crisp and clear of the dry cold that now embraced the Earth. As a matter of course, he was brining poinsettias to the populous of his friends (population: one), and sending along the best wishes of the season. Presently, he gingerly made his way up the stairs to Roxy's office, unburied himself from the mass of leaves, and rapped his knuckles on the door, shifting from foot to foot to keep the circulation going in his legs.

Z didn't notice the knocking on the door, he was too caught up in the moment. He brought his face -just- a little closer to hers, still staring into her eyes, their lips were so close now, merely 1/25 of an inch more and they would be touching. He sighed softly in relief and asked "That all? How much do you need?" He asked, gently carressing the side of her face, smiling slightly, his lips were now only far away enough, the slightest movement, and they'd be touching.
Jerry Lee watched them, he wanted to warn his master there was someone coming, but, he wasn't going to let his master miss out on the first kiss of his life!
Finally, Ziggy, gently, pressed his lips to hers, making sure tpo remain gentle, his lips, -seemed- cold and dead, but then immediately, was like warmth flooding through both their bodies.

Roxanne
Roxy vaguely heard a knock on the door, but she was still shocked by the position she was in. There was a nagging feeling in her mind, something telling her she should go answer the door, she ignored it. For once in her life, she even ignored her animals, Rage was pawing at her leg and whining, casting glances towards the offending door. She had half a mind to pull away sharply at his words. She didn't want charity, she didn't need it, and there was no way she could ever repay him. She wouldn't let him spend money on her, it just wasn't right. Still, she wasn't to offending, knowing that in his mind, what he was offering wasn't a horrible thing. Besides, she wasn't truly thinking about what he was saying. She felt his hand, rough and warm on her cheek.
A smile of her on tugged on her lips, reflecting the smile Ziggy had. The pressure on her lips was odd, she felt at first like it was a feather pressing against her lips, then it changed, becoming warmer. Her eyes slid shut as she leaned into the kiss. She could barely here the sound of Rage's whining. Telling her to go answer the door. Honestly, what could be so important? A niggling in her stomach told her she shouldn't be kissing a guy she had only met a day or so ago. This wasn't like her at all...

Rory was about to just set the poinsettias by the door and leave, hoping that the cold wouldn't kill them, before he heard the low, gentle whine of a dog. His head went to the side as if trying to confirm the noise. But it continued on. Surely Roxy wouldn't leave her dog locked up in the office! No! Something must be wrong! Roxy must be inside there, passed out... or worse! In a moment of (frankly), stupidity, Rory took a few steps back and rushed the (unlocked) door, bursting through it suddenly and fumbling to keep the flowers in his grasp, nearly spilling dirt across the floor as he skittered in a wide circle, hopping on one leg to avoid hitting various dogs, furniture, and other fragile items (such as people.)
Wait... People? Plural? Rory stopped dead, turned around slowly, and found his eyes meeting the aforementioned scene. His jaw just about dropped to his knees, and his ears flushed a violent shade of cherry tomato as he attempted to hide himself in poinsettia. It took him a moment to process what had just happened to him, and he stood there, looking frankly shocked, and closed his mouth slowly. A sudden wave of self-hatred rose over him, and one hand clenched, skin going white where it stretched over his knuckles. And this time there was no grace to stop him swinging out (at himself, Ziggy, or Roxy, he wasn't quite sure...) Oh my god. I am SO stupid. The thought chased itself around in his head as he attempted to regain the power of speech.

Ziggy, almost immediately, stopped kissing her when he burst into the room. He watched him for a moment, as though trying to decide weather or not he was a threat. An awkward silence filled the room for a moment, broken, finally after a moment when Ziggy cleared his throat and asked, "Don't mind me asking, but, umm, who are you, after all, first meetings often warrant introductions? I am Z." He said, tilting his head curiously for a moment.
Jerry Lee's fur bristled slightly, as though he were asking 'You DARE to intrude?' Though he showed no teeth as a threat. His fur was the only thing that suggested disgruntledness in the German Shepherd Dog.
Ziggy looked down at Jerry Lee, "Eaasy, now, boy..." He said softly, reaching down and gently stroking the shepherd's head. He looked back up at Rory, expecting an answer. "Well?" He said softly.

Roxanne
Roxy's eyes snapped wide open and she whirled around, causing her coffee colored hair to slap her on the side of her face, as she heard someone burst through her door. If she hadn't been caught in such a weird position, she would have laughed as her warm chocolate eyes landed on her best friend, Rory. At first he looked panicked and the red flowers he held just made the scene funnier. However, his expression quickly switched to shock. Why had he come? She wanted to groan out loud. Not that she didn't want to see him, it's just, he barreled in and put them all in an awkward position, and brought flowers nonetheless.
Again, she was silently glad she couldn't blush, yet, she was extremely embarrassed. Rory, apparently, could blush, he turned a bright red as he saw them. She bit her bottom lip, not sure how to go about this... When he clenched his fist her eyes widened, afraid that he was going to punch someone. With what he was probably thinking right about now, she wasn't sure who that fist would be aimed at.
She wanted to slap the palm of her hand to her forehead, repeatedly. She turned slowly to look at Z as he introduced himself and then looked back over at Rory. Right, introductions. Uh... She walked over and clamped a head on Rory's arm, dragging him towards Z. She was determined to live through this experience. "Rory Calder, Z" She glanced down, then looked up, glaring at Rory in an obvious look that said 'be polite!'. She just wasn't sure how much common sense Rory had at the current moment.

Rory, who had flushed a shade similar to that of a blanched almond, continued to stare at Roxy dumbly, occasionally trying to utter something totally incomprehensible, before Z's voice shut him up. The tips of his nails were digging into his palm, his hand was clenched so hard. He shifted his gaze slightly, again attempting to stammer something with slightly more success. "...Dog... door... sorry..." was basically all that was audible, before he cleared his throat and seemed to regain some sense of normalcy (which, for him, could mean a lot of things), "Oh my god. I thought you'd kill... died." He managed, biting his tongue in his cheek to keep himself from saying 'killed yourself', which was, in his opinion, a valid fear at this point. Somehow he managed to remain more concerned with how she was than the fact that he had just burst in on her kissing... well, someone. Whose name was apparently Z. No business of his. It wasn't like Roxy was his girlfriend or anything.
He decided that he felt rather betrayed (actually, he was attemtping to rapidly reexamine his previous mental notes about Roxy), and let the one clenched hand fall open, glancing down at the purple half-crescents where his fingers had pressed. He didn't resist Roxy's plaintitive pulling at his arm, and, catching the look in her eye, immediately became angrier at her. How DARE she ask him that? He was easily ruffled, easily made angry, which was part of being a half-German. Nonetheless, despite the fact that Roxy was turning out to be something totally different than what he had thought, he still regarded her highly enough to keep his mouth shut and study Z with his jaw clenched and his mind racing. "Ah... Z?" he seemed to be mulling something over, as if he knew the name, the face. An increasingly dismal look crossed his face as he figured out where he knew it from. Oh yes, he knew the detective.

Z merely nodded in greeting, though, he did reply with "Yes?" When he seemed to want to ask a question. That was just Z, though, everytime someone reffered to him with a questioning tone, he automatically figured they wanted to ask him something. He noted that Jerry Lee had settled slightly, though still watched Rory with a menacing look, which, Z ignored. He shoved his hands into his pockets, slouched slightly as usual, slightly hunch-backed as he always was. "Something you want to ask, I assume?" He asked, tilting his head slightly, watching the other man carefully, as though still trying to decide weather or not he was a threat. He had clenched his hands before, which was a sign of anger, but he seemed to relax so that put Z's mind a -slight- bit more at ease. He watched the other man with -just barely there- curiousity, waiting for him to say something.

Roxanne
Roxy looked from Z to Rory, back to Z, and then to Rory. Not really sure who she should be looking at. She looked down at Rage, he gave her a look, that clearly said "If you had listened to me..." She grimaced inwardly, then looked up as Rory started stumbling over words. A look of shock entered her eyes as he spoke the next sentence. He had stared with killed, and she was sure that hadn't been a mistake. Did he really think she would killl herselff because her mother had died recently? Then again, the thought had past her mind, but she wasn't stupid enough to actually go through with it.
When she tried to salvage the situation, she was certain it wasn't working. She could easily see that Rory was mad at her, for what reason, she wasn't quite sure. But still, she hated to see the opinon her only friend had of her, lower. A pain came into her brown eyes, but she quickly tried to brush it away, to cover it up. When Rory managed to say something to Z, she -almost- breathed a sigh of relief. Yet, Z decided to take that questioning tone, as an actual question. She wanted to groan aloud, thankfully, she didn't. What could she really do in this situation? Roxy already regretted kissing Z, it wasn't like she knew him. How could she be so stupid? Just because she liked him, or so she thought, didn't condone what she had done. "Uh... Rory is my best friend..." She mumbled to Z.
