Floyd kicked his stable door unhappily, he wanted to go out into the paddocks and have a run about in the morning air so he neighed loudly as if to say let me out but she didn't come so he dug around in his straw to find a carrot so he ate it happily and lied down. He stood up after a while and took a drink and kicked the door hard and it started to split so he stopped what he was doing and lied down in the corner making it like he didn't do anything. He hated it in his stall but there was nothing he could do about it so he shut his eyes and hopefully when he woke up again the Mistress would be ready to open his door and lead him out into the paddocks or maybe go for a ride to the wild lands to catch horses to be his friend.

Sam woke up in the morning and went strait down the stairs to Rex, he seemed fine so she relaxed a bit and had a shower. After a quick bowl of Cheerios she sprang out of the door and down to her new stallions stall. Seeing the huge crack in the door she raised her eyebrows and tutted lightly. Then she called, "Floyd" her voice was light and sweet, just like the carrots she had in her pocket. Floyd's previous owners had told her he liked carrots and she would use them to tempt him out if necessary. She opened the stall door and drew a halter and lead rope from her other pocket. "Come on Floyd." Once again she called him, as an after thought she stepped forwards so he wouldn't bolt straight out. She smiled and waited, she could see him lying in the corner of his stall, he didn't look very pleased with her. Ah well, she'd soon change that, she put her other hand into her pocket for the carrots before lifting it out again and watching the horse.

Floyd stood up happily as carrots drew out of her pockets and he nuzzled her happily before trying to get the carrots out of her hand. He lifted his head high and whinnied lightly as if to say thank you and then paced around his stall wanting to be let out. He looked at her and shook his black mane and flicked his tail before getting angry and kicking the back of his stall, he hated confined spaces. He looked back at the carrots and tried to eat them again as he suddenly realized how hungry he actually was and got a bit of carrot and crunched it happily and then searched her hand again. (soz its not the right length, 150 its hard lol)

Ok) Sam stepped quickly into the stall and pushed the halter onto Floyd's handsome head. As she adjusted the straps to make him more comfortable she raised her hand and fed him a carrot, speaking softly to him she led him out of the stall. He was a good stallion she decided, might even be good for racing. Maybe she'd take him out in the paddock and check out his speed. She looked around the yard, eyes searching for a pole to tie him to while she fetched a saddle. He was such a handsome horse, if she could find a mare that he would accept she would definitely breed him to her. As she mulled over the new horse her steps grew a bit slower and her grip on the rope slackened, her eyes regarded him thoughtfully, she'd have to do a few check-ups at the vet, make sure he was in prime condition, but, all in all, he seemed to be a horse to be proud of.

Floyd happily got tied up and she left the stable so he waited crunching on the carrot she had gave him. He looked around him and saw the paddocks and couldn't wait to be ridden as he was a horse that loved to gallop but he was no thoroughbred. Floyd neighed, why was she taking so long he thought but she would take as long as she took and at least he was out into the open air instead of the stall. He yawned but when she got him moving he would soon wake up again and be ready to show her what he could do and what if she took him on a ride into the wild or just in the countryside it was amazing. He saw the room she went in and looked through the window and saw her face and smiled happily as he knew where she was.

She felt him watching her and rolled her eyes slightly, horses are very curious she thought. She picked up a few of the saddles and came out of the tack room, she walked over to Floyd and put the first saddle on his back, no, just a bit to broad, the next one however fitted perfectly, crouching down she tightened the girth and checked the fitting, then she stood up and took the saddles back to the tack room. Once inside she breathed in the sweet smell of polished leather and carefully put the saddles back in their places. Then she strode briskly back to Floyd and vaulted confidently onto his back, she sat there for a minute, adjusting to his body under her, before gently nudging him into a slow walk. His gait was smooth and pleasant, and it was quite nice to ride him, after a few minutes of just enjoying the ride she urged him into a trot and turned him towards the paddock.

Floyd trotted happily but now it was his turn so he started to go in a slow canter and got quicker before jumping the paddock fence he then slowed down into a trot again and hoped she didn't mind. He stopped and started to graze even though the was still on his back but he didn't care, he just wanted to be a nuisance to see how his new rider took it. He looked around the paddock and lifted his head to make her think she was back in control but his tricks weren't over yet but he waited a while and then started to trot again doing what she wanted to do. Floyd liked to be a nuisance as it showed wether his rider could handle him but she was doing well but he had one more little trick to put to the test and this one was hardest of all.

A little frown crossed her face as he played up on her, best to just get him moving, he probably had the fidgets. She squeezed his sides with her legs to make him gallop and gave him a bit more rein to play with, how fast would he go? She drew out a whip, which had been specially selected so that all it did was slap his side, and layed it firmly on his flank before quickly lifting it again. This was a signal to give it all he had, and if he still played up well.... Lets leave it at that. Her eyes watched his body move, and she adjusted her body to his rhythm, then she shifted a bit to make sure she was sat firmly in the saddle and waited for him to buck, he might not but it was best to be prepared. If he did buck then he'd be surprised. She wouldn't fall off.

Floyd galloped around, he would get her back for using the wip he thought, he then started to speed up his gallop until he was at top speed. His mane flew through the air and his tail flew behind him, she was strong so he stopped playing up and turned into a little angel and rode perfectly and then he started to slow down as he got worn out until he was walking, panting slightly. He stopped by a tree which provided some shade and he put his head down and shook his mane happily. Floyd slowly lifted his head and turned his neck to look around him before starting to walk again and then trotted around and happily trotted but there was other things on his mind but he would do anything she told him to do just as long as it was in reason as he was a nice horse.

Thank goodness it was just the fidgets, Sam gently pulled Floyd to a halt and dismounted from his strong back, she crouched down and unfastened the saddle before lifting it of him and putting it on a nearby fence, then she tied him to a fence post and started back towards the house at a brisk trot. Once inside the front door she sprang into the kitchen and (Carefully avoiding the still sleeping Rex) went over to the sink, she pulled a bucket out of a cupboard and filled it at the sink, she did have a tap in the garden but it was more convenient this way. She left the kitchen with a brief level stride and tried to stop the water spilling, then she went over to the tack room and grabbed some soap and a sponge. She carried both into the paddock and walked towards Floyd, bath time.

Floyd saw the bucket of water and the sponge but he knew it would do him good so he stood still as she started to wash him down. Floyd even lowered his neck for when she would scrub his neck, most horses hated bathtime but Floyd did not mind and he happily got sponged down and then it was the time for the soap to come on and a sud got into his nostril so he snorted and shook his neck but then stood still and waited for her to finish but he knew it could take a while but he loved it as the water splashed over his warm body and was cooling him off after the gallop. He lifted his foot to show the bottom of his hoof but felt to hoof pick cleaning them, what was she thinking he thought and started to paw the ground unhappily.

She watched his hooves paw the ground and sighed, "If I do your hooves now then the soap I just put in your mane will drip into your eyes", nevertheless she rinsed his mane a bit quicker than usual so she could do his hooves sooner. She lifted the left front one and drew a hoof pick from one of her huge pockets, she took the sponge and wiped his hoof clean before picking all the more substantial bits out with the pick. Then she went onto the next hoof and so on until all of them were clean. After washing the slightly muddy sponge she walked over to the stables and re-filled the bucket, then she strode back to Floyd and used the sponge to give him an extra thorough rinse off. Then she ran back to the tack room and found a towel, a hairdryer and the horse brushes. When she got back to Floyd she started to rub him with the towel till he wasn't dripping anymore, when she turned around and saw the messy pile of stuff she started to tidy it up. When she had finished she started to dry Floyd with the hair dryer.

Floyd happily waited as she cleaned his hooves and then went away so he happily waited for her to return and when she did she was back with another bucket of water and he got a rinse but as she went away again he shook his mane and body and flicked his tail lightly to get some water off his body and she then came back with a towel, brushes and a hair dryer. He felt the towel on his body and then the warm air of the hair dryer. He pricked his ears up as a bird flew out of a tree but then looked at her with his dark eyes. She was the kindest owner ever as she understood him and that was the greatest thing about her. He nickered kindly at her and started to graze a little but soon lifted his head when she wanted to do the top of his neck.
