Hiamovi trecked along the grass, he had been travelling for days with his wife Galilahi. Something was finally coming into veiw, and a strong scent of horse was about. A small mountain had a path weaving up and then went onto flat but he couldn't see it just yet. He started to run up the mountain with Galilahi and then finally reached the top to see a paradise of open plains, water and mountains. It was a perfect place to set up a home so he walked and sat down on the plains. He had never learned his own language so knew english but has been trying to learn his language every since.
Galilahi fell in love with the land and looked at her husband "amazing, nowo' in lake. Nowo' is fish" she said as she had learned some of her language and is now teaching Hiamovi it. She saw a horse in the distance and smiled. This was a perfect place to have lived so she got out some animal skin and some horse hair. After threading the hair she started to sew while Hiamovi set up some branches for the baces of a teepee. The pair were finally happy and that was the greatest thing that they could ever dreamed of.

Kohia grazed peacefully in the afternoon sun. She was the only horse about, but she didn't mind. Her stallion, Strike was out of the herd lands. She was confident he would return soon, hopefully with a few horses for the herd. She lifted her head to look about at her home. Every thing was perfect...but what were those figures over by the bank. She walked slowly towards them, alert, auds pricked, icy obs shining. As she neared she saw to her horror that the two figures were human. Immediately her ears shot back, and stuck themselves to her crown. What did they think they were doing? She cantered towards them, bucking, and snorting. Clear warnings to get away. She reared up, and then slammed down on the ground, head low, teeth bared, ready to charge.
The painted mare ascended the stony hill. She had been looking for a place to stay, away from other horses. As she reached the top, and looked out across the plains, she immediately felt drawn to the land. She cantered down, and onto the fields, but stopped when she saw to strange creatures with two legs, assembling some sort of structure. She approached with caution, curious, but when she saw the golden mare come bucking towards her, she cantered off and hid, beneath the cover of the trees.

Hiamovi stood up when he saw the horse, she was obviously not very happy with them being here. He wasn't the best with horses, his wife was better but he still walked slowly toward the horse "shh, we mean you no harm" he said softly but knew the horse couldn't understand him. He looked at his wife and then sat back down, going back to making the teepee. Hiamovi saw the horse out of the corner of his eye and immediatly knew she was frightened of horses. The horse was very pretty and her eyes looked like the sky "her eye, its as blue as the sky" he said to Galilahi who nodded "Mapiya, call her Mapiya" she replied.
Galilahi stood up and stepped toward the horse with her arm outstretched. She held it very still and she stayed still herself to let the horse smell and inspect herself. She was the better with horses, Hiamovi knew that as well as she did. She started to talk her own language to the horse as maybe the horse would tell the difference in the cowboys and herself by different words "heebe, woxhoox" she said and Hiamovi shot her a puzzled look and she whispered the meaning to him "hello horse".

Kohia was puzzled and slightly alarmed that the humans did not seem scared of her, or take her warning. Most humans would have beat it by now. When the man came closer to her and whispered 'shh, we mean you know harm' she snorted. "Liar!" she hissed, though she knew they would not understand. Then the woman came to her. Couldn't they take a hint? 'Heebee woxhoox'. Heebee woxhoox? What was that supposed to mean? If the woman was implying that she was going to name her that then she could think again. Her name was Kohia, and nothing else. She gave one last snort, before turning, and trotting off, tail held high. She would try and chase them off a little later.
The mare watched as the palomino trotted off, and waited a little while before emerging from the trees. She went back to investigating the two legged creatures. She walked up to where one of them was building the structure. She sniffed it. It reeked of dead bison. She stuck her head through a hole, to see darkness. She panicked, and backed out, knocking the structure over as she went.

Hiamovi laughed as the mare stalked off and then saw Mapiya and the teepee came crashing back down. "Hey, that took me a while gorgeous" he said and stepped slowly toward the horse. They had only one piece of animal skin to put on and it would of been complete but the horse just had to knock it over. Hiamovi then saw a deer in the forest, its eyes glinted as it watched its surroundings before stepping out and taking a drink at the lake. He got out his bow, a freshly made arrow and aimed at the deer before letting the arrow fly through the air and toward the deer. He aimed perfectly and the arrow hit the animal. It was food for the pair after a long journey.
Galilahi smiled as the deer fell and she went off and grabbed it. She would finally have meat and more animal skin which they were desperatly running out of. She then started to skin the animal and wrapping the meat in large leaves and salt to preserve it. She was working happily, ignoring her husband while she worked as she needed to be fully consentrated otherwise things could go wrong and she could get hurt.

The shadows of the forest hid the beast. It crouched low to the ground, blue eyes flashing as it studied the fallen deer carcass and the human that was working so busily over it. A low growl rose from the shadows as the scent of fresh meat met the searching canine nostrils. A little further behind, searching through the bushes for the snares that he had laid earlier, Kaga worked, not even noticing Ezhno's fascination and the presence of the deer. This was unusual for the boy, but he was preoccupied. Here, struggling and breathless in the dirt, a rabbit had wandered into the carefully laid snare. Food. The boy and his companion had gone without fresh meat for so long, and the thought of finally having a heavy belly was a great one. The young boy took out a knife, carefully sharpened from hard obsidian, and killed the creature quickly, mercifully. The legs stopped kicking after a moment, and Kaga looked silently at the kill, whispering thanks to whatever god or fortune had favored his snare.
Ezhno sprang suddenly, wolf-like form curving through the underbrush as he came towards the person and the deer, snarling and bristling and looking almost like a full-blooded wolf. Hunger had made his ribs show through and his eyes bloodshot, and his form was hardly imposing. Kaga sprang thorugh the underbrush after him, still holding the snared rabbit. The growling rose a pitch as the master appeared, and the wolf-dog's eyes flashed dangerously. Kaga looked from the dog to the person for a moment, and then, wordlessly, threw the rabbit over to Ezhno. The starved halfbreed sprung as quick as lightning and began to tear flesh from bone, still growling and foaming with delight. "I am sorry," he said, "my friend was hungry, and he has no control over himself. I am Kaga, and this is Ezhno."

Hiamovi looked at the boy and nodded before muttering "finally, a english speaker" but his wife kicked him in the shin lightly. He just bent another bit of wood and put it up on the wooden frame before looking more at the boy "why hello, Kaga, I am Hiamovi" he said and then got some large bits of wood and went away to search for dry grass.
Galilahi smiled and then stood up "you must be hungry, come sit, we have plenty of food" she said as her husband slowly struck some flint until a spark flew and landed on the leaves letting them smoke and shrivel without fire. "Useless, absolutely useless" she said calmly and blew gently on the leaves, letting the leaf catch fire and finally it was ready as nightfall would be approaching soon. She then got out a large stone which was blackened on one side from cooking and put the blackened side down, onto the sticks, letting the flame lick the stone and letting it heat. Once the stone was hot she put on a peice of venison.
Hiamovi watched his wife and laughed before running of again, winter would be approaching and he had to find something for them to keep warm. He approached the dog after searching and finding nothing. Luckily Hiamovi had some venison in his hand so he slowly put it down by the dogs feet and walked quickly off again to his wife.
