It was a typical summer day. Hot, humid and nasty. Arrik flicked his dual-toned tail in hopes of the slightest of breezes. Nope. He sighed in exasperation. Can autumn come any slower? It seemed so. He ducked his head in mock despair.
What was that? Surprise locked his legs, sending him stumbling forward. Charcoaled nostrils flared as he snuffled around in the thick grass. Another stallion? Darn. Whatever. It would be better this way, well, it might be. Less responsibility on his part. With that thought, the painted behemoth happily trotted deeper into the stranger's land, movement accented by his Spanish heritage.
"Hallo!" He called out a few short minutes later. "Anyone home?" His voice sounded friendly, as always. Arrik found life to be a game, therefore he was rarely, if ever, serious. Even fighting was a fun thing, an event in which he could spar with insults and dance around. It's no wonder he didn't have a home! Impatiently, the brown and white stallion shook his head, sending his mane flying about to land in a haphazard mess along his proudly arched neck. "Someone hurry! I'm dying of boredom out here!" ooc: bleh, sorry about the shortness, gotta head to work. >.<[/size]

Ebony pistons skillfully made their way through the rugged terrain towards their new home. The evil looking stag loped pridefully into his new territory with a smug look on his face. That mare hadn't stood a chance against him. Insanity Falls, once dubbed Freedom Valley, was thriving under his power and he couldn't ask for more. He needed herd members, but they were such a hassle. He definitely wasn't going to recruit.
The stallion's black and grey body stealthily glided over a rock formation that lead to the valley where he lived. He could see his waterfall ahead and smiled to himself. The grass was growing healthily and the sun was shining on his land. The ruler of the lands walked towards the river and placed his maw into the cooling waters. He drank long and hard from its refreshing depths. It doesn't get better than this... But it does get worse...
The stag heard a yell from somewhere in his territory. His ears perked protectively as he galloped towards the noise. A stallion stood alone on his land and he pinned his auds against his skull. "What are you doing here? This is my land." He spat coldly, venom dripping from his words. He didn't like intruders...and he wasn't afraid to fight.

It seemed that forever and a day had passed before there was a sign of life. Arrik’s crimson ears pricked forward with interest. Another painted beast, another behemoth like him. Judging by the stiff muscles and pinned ears, this other fellow was not a happy bunny. Uh oh, he thought, what did I get myself into? Instead of cowering before the other’s angry words, Arrik simply tilted his head like a curious bird.
The stallion’s jaws parted in mock surprise, “Really? I thought that a mare owned this land.” It would have been better to just shut up, but this moment was far to entertaining for the rambunctious stallion. His dual-tones tail flicked against his mahogany rump as his hundreds of pounds shifted from one rear leg to another. His well-muscled shoulders lifted and fell in a nonchalant shrug. “All games and insults aside, I’m looking for a place to live, not dominate.” There. It was said. It wasn’t that Arrik wasn’t a good lead or anything, he just didn’t care for the politics and pettiness that was associated with the title.

The collosal brute kept his dials back in anger as he stared down the other stallion. HIs muscles were tensed, ready to attack. His blood pumped fast through his veins and into his head. He hated intruders with a fire burning passion.
When the other stag spoke the gray and black ruler spat at him. "Ha! A mare used to own this land. I fought her for it and won it easily. Now its mine." He shook his banner with a mock calm and studied the other stag closely. "Whats your name, brute?" The stallion's muscles danced under his uniquely colored pelt as he circled the other horse.
"They call me Don't Blink. I am the ruler of these lands and anyone who dare challenge me will die. If you wish to join my herd then you must promise to never try and overpower me. There are serious consequences to those who do..." Blink flicked his tail at the other horse as he backed away confidently.

The earth sighed, tousling the ebony hairs of his forelock. With his typical air of nonchalance, Arrik flicked his crimson head, tossing the unruly locks back into place. A chuckle rumbled from his chest. Others were so friggin' territorial these days. He shook his head, still laughing. “No need to worry 'bout that, I'm not eager for that.” He sighed, gathering a ghost of composition. ”I'm Arrik, by the way.”
It was interesting, this contrast between the two studs. One was fiery and the colour of ash and bone. The other was foolish, the colour of flame and snow. A sharp twinge alerted the red-and-white behemoth of a bug's bite. He quickly ducked his head to nibble at the offending lump. ”Anyway,” he remarked when his head had lifted into a more natural position, ”I'm more than fond of life, thanks.” This would be an interesting bit of time spent here.
His black-laced ears swiveled forward as he regarded his new lead. I wonder if he's capable of lightening up and having fun. His thoughts stilled for a moment as his mind created such a scene. It was all he could do to not burst into another fit of laughter. No, definitely not!
He watched as the other, Don't Blink, backed up. Arrik mirrored the movement, preparing to wander off somewhere. He paused after a few strides to swing his head back to the other. ”A quick question- may I invite a mare or few of my own if I find any?“ He remained posed like so, awaiting an answer.

Blink swished his tail as a gust of wind swept by the two stallions. The ashen leader nodded thoughtfully and spoke, "Very well then, Arrik. Welcome to Insanity Falls." His rigid body relaxed momentarily before tightening back up as the red and white stag jerked quickly to nibble at a bug. Blink shook his head and snorted.
Blink could easily tell that himself and the other horse were polar opposites. He, a fiery, fearless leader. Arrik, a laid back herd member. Their personalities would eventually clash, but he better make the best of it for now...Who knows? Maybe someday this stag could be his right hand man. Blink doubted it, but stranger things have happened.
"Keep that in mind, Arrik. Value everyday of your life." With that Blink watched as the other stallion walked away. His ears swiveled as Arrik turned back to speak to him. He nodded his head, "That should be fine, as long as I meet them. If they do not meet my standards then I will let you know." With that said, Blink turned on his haunches and trotted away. He tossed some words behind him, "Welcome to the herd!" He chuckled softly under his breath and faded into the distance.
