Kaisa walked through the sand dunes. The hot sun beat down upon his unusual coat. His yellow eyes scanned the area, searching for some unknown thing. His feet made no sound as the touched the ground, but left a perfect imprint of his paw behind him. His auds were unmoving, and his body never swayed. He merged with the silvery-yellow grass that tufted up here and there, and the red colour of the sand. He suddenly dropped, his belly hairs just touching the ground, hackles raised. He then sprang forward, and ran like lightening. He struck. One quick blow to the lower neck and the fawn fell to the ground. The doe scampered off, leaving her dead offspring behind.
Kaisa lay down, and began to demolish the carcass. He kept glancing up, to check for rivals that might be coming to steal his kill. After a while, he began to concentrate more on his lunch. When he had had his fill, he got up, and lay down in the sun to rest. If he got hungry again, he would go back to his food, but for now, he was content.

Xanadu watched as Kaisa killed the fawn and never saw herself watching him. She then jumped down from the mountain and onto the mountain path, walking down and onto the desert floor. She kept low and silent before sitting just a short way off Kaisu. "Hello handsome, I said I would find you" she said jumping of the rock and swiftly stealing a piece of meat from the carcass. She then sat opposite the male and swollowed the meat. It was certainly a nice kill and she admired Kaisa for that.
She started to lick her paws, watching him and then she jumped up and started to slink away. After a while she sunk her paws into the sand and started to dig as she might as well build a den while she was here. He was certainly a lovly Coyote and while she dug in the sand her thoughts drifted off and dreamed about him.

Kaisa watched as a familiar figure walked towards him. He knew she had said she would find him, but he never really believed her. He looked at her as she stole a piece of meat from his carcass. It didn't really bother him that much though, he was full anyway. As she started digging, he wandered why she was doing so. He never slept in dens, he always slept out in the open, where if there was danger he could run or fight easily, without being cornered.
He walked over to where she was digging. "So, you actually came and found me" he said, no emotion showing in his voice. He sat down, and waited for her to stop digging. He still wasn't sure weather he wanted to go with her or not. It was a big decision, and he had to think it through more. Still, she was here now, so he had to make up his mind.

Xanadu watched him walk toward her. His moves silent but she picked them up easily. She looked at then laughed "of course, I said I would didn't I!" Xanadu read his face easily and sighed. "I want a den" she said and sat down, facing him "it could come in useful as if I dig correctly then I can make a exit in the mountains nearby a spring which is there but very hidden" she said but knew that would take a long time to complete. She then saw the blood around his lips and laughed as she was very clean. Xanadu then turned around and started to dig again, she then started to get tired and lied down. The den was only a small, slanted hole in the ground and she wasn't impressed but it would have to do. She could fit into the hole when it was bigger .
She rested her head in between her legs and shut her eyes. She then yelped loudly and jumped up growling. Something had skimmed her tail and then she saw a herd of deer running through and a baby had jumped over her. "Finally, some food" she said and walked into the herd silently and then saw a doe calling for its mother as the herd moved away, it then called louder. Xanadu crouched low in the grass and made some quiet noises and the fawn looked around and stepped toward her. She then jumped up and ran toward the fawn who started to run but it was too slow. Xanadu gribbed her claws onto the baby's back and bit its neck, killing it instently. She then dragged the creature toward her hole and put it just by it and dropped it happily, panting a little.

Kaisa didn't reply to her. He was still thinking about what she had asked him. He enjoyed being solitary, yet he knew that he must settle down at some point. But he still wasn't quite sure of what the femme wanted of him. Weather she wanted a mate, or just a friend. He didn't like the idea of being tied to only one female, so if she wanted him as a mate, she would have to learn his rules, and his way of life.
He watched her as she easily took down a young fawn. She was a good hunter, and could be good to have around. He certainly wouldn't starve. He licked the blood from his lips, and went and lay down on the sand, and watched Xanadu eat. The smell made his mouth water, but he was still full from the last time he had eaten.

Xanadu took her fill from the carcass and then dragged it away and saw a flock of vultures fly down to eat. She ran back up to him and then sat next to him, she licked his coat and then lied down again. She looked into his eyes and smiled "so here we are, two soliatary coyotes who have finally found eachother" she then looked upon the horizon as the sun started to set and it was a perfect image. She leaned against him and sniffed the air, something wasn't right. "Something's up" she said and barked to hear noises, crackling sounds. It was a fire and she was scared as the flames started to come into veiw, gripping onto the shrubs and grasses, edging its way toward them. "Kaisa!" she said and then she stepped closer toward the flames, she saw something inside them but it was only her imagination, unfortuently she didn't know that.
The flames licked her paws and she jumped back, yelping. The fire was edging closer to the coyote and then it jumped forward, too fast for her to run. She was trapped in the fire, she yelped and she jumped but it was too late as then the yelping stopped. She stopped moving and the only thing left was a lifeless corpse, one of a coyote too silly to run away from such a powerful beast. She should have played the game corretly, to run away and never walk toward such a powerful being. The silly coyote was too late. Xanadu was gone, she was now with her family in the one place she could meet them and that was heaven. The only remaining thing of the creature was a burned corpse, and that would rot away soon enough and it was all because she didn't play the right came.

Kaisa sat down beside Xanadu. He had to admit to himself, that it was nice to have some company. "So it seems" he replied, his gaze unmoving from the setting sun. Then a smell came to his nostrils. The sent of smoke. But Xanadu had already smelled it. He stood up, and we watched with horror as the flames came at them. "Run" he shouted, but it was too late, Xanadu had already disappeared into the flames.
Kaisa heard terrified yelps come from within the flames. Kaisa leaped over the wall of fire, and fought his way through the flames. It singed his fur, and burnt his paws, but he carried on going, until he saw her. She was laying on the ground, motionless. He ran up to her. The flames had already died out in the part he was in, but they had left their mark. There was no sign of life in the coyote, and Kaisa was left standing alone in a charred world.

Xanadu felt life, it started to flow into her body and she wanted to stir but it hurt to much. She slowly took breaths, her chest slowly rising and falling with every breath. "Kaisa" she whispered and opened a golden eye, she then realised something and that something saved her life. She had fainted, the smoke was in her lungs but it escaped and she was coming back, back to life. "Kaisa.." she said and gasped for another breath "its ok, I am ok". Xanadu slowly got up and looked at her scorched fur, it had never reached her skin but the fur was very burnt and almost down to her skin.
She looked at her fur and whined "it will take ages to grow this back" she coughed in between words but the coyote was alive. She licked Kaisa's fur and opened both golden eyes, she looked upon him and nuzzled his fur happily "you came, you came into the fire just to see me" she coughed and licked his fur again, he was the nicest male ever. She saw the flames had died off, leaving scorched ground so she walked slowly, her paws hurt with every step she took. It was the only part of her the fire reached but even they weren't that damaged and she would survive.

Kaisa was about to leave her body, when he saw life flow into her. It was like someone had paused her, and had just pressed play again. A sigh of relief escaped him. He watched as the breaths became lass shallow, and more regular. "I can't believe it." the words were more to himself "I thought you were dead". He looked at the badly burnt fur, only just covering the skin.
His heart was still beating fast in his chest, but it was slowing down. "Don't ever ever ever ever do that to me ever again" he said, but it has just a slight hint of laughter "I thought you had died!". He watched as she walked tenderly, obviously causing her pain with every step. It seemed though, that apart from her paws, nothing was very badly damaged. But his mind was made up now, and he knew he had made the right decision.

Xanadu looked at him "I still don't beleive you ran in just to see me!" she said and licked his muzzle happily. She saw they had reached where she was building the den and lied down "I was about to run, fire is fast" she said and coughed a little more but she was ok. She looked at the hole in the ground and sighed, she wouldn't be able to complete it now and it would come in useful for pups and when the pack built up. She panted and then looked up at Kaisa, she looked into his eyes and smiled "Kaisa...I love you" she said and hoped he would say the words she wanted back.
She looked over him, and her eyes drew to the black markings down his legs. She laughed a little but then rolled over and onto her side, she watched the male and then slowly got up and walked toward him. She licked his fur again and nuzzled Kaisa's coat as she loved him so much as he saved her, he also was the best male in her life except from her father. She stood beside him but her legs started to ache so she had to lie down again.

Kaisa walked back with her, until they reached the den she had started to build. It was obvious that she would not be able to continue with it. "But you didn't run" he said, his voice back to it's usual, unemotional tone. He sat down, and wrapped his tail neatly around himself. He looked out at the now set sun. He knew it would not be easy, adjusting to a new lifestyle, but he could cope. He could always cope. Then words wrenched him from his trance like state. Words that made his heart skip a beat.
He turned his bi-coloured orbs onto the femme. He knew what she wanted back, but he knew that it was wrong to speak nothing but the truth, in situations like these. "You may be ready to settle down with a solid mate that loves you, but I am not ready to love." He felt sorry for her, but it would be wrong to bash him for something he could not control.

"Maybe you should of let me burn then" Xanadu said, fighting back the tears. She stood and looked into his eyes before walking past him and away, if he didn't love her then fine. Xanadu would put him out of the pain and leave herself. She then turned her head, looked at the male "bye Kaisa, it was nice knowing you" she said and then walked slowly but then ran and the pain hurt her but she didn't stop. She jumped up on the mountain path but her front claws gripped the edge, her back feet were left dangling. She pulled herself up and then ran across the path again which was dangerous as one slip and she would fall. The femme turned quickly and then saw it, the path to her paradise. She ran down it which led to a dead end but she knew this path well and jumped up onto a ledge and there was a cave.
She walked through the cave and then came out at last onto soft grass which was surrounded by high mountains. A waterfall was loud, falling into a bubbling pool and the grass was soft against her paws. This was the paradise she was talking about, the one the den would lead to but her plan was ruined as he just didn't love her. She lied down on the sand, next to the pool and sighed as she watched the waterfall cascading down and into the pool. "You broke my heart Kaisa, I gave you my heart and you tore it in two" she whispered and then stood and looked up, watching the white fluffy clouds flutter past.

Kaisa watched as the femme walked away. If she couldn't take what he was, then she did not truly love him. Someone who truly loved him would have understood, but he knew that most females would not, and so he was almost guaranteed a solitary life. He sighed and watched her break into a run, and back up the mountain. He would have never let her burn, but he had not been prepared for what had come next.
He turned away from the mountain, and watched the sun go down, but stayed there, long after it had set. Eventually he looked back at the mountain. He knew she would be long gone by now, and would probably never return. He padded over to the den she had dug, and looked inside, before entering. He lay down, and closed his eyes, yet he knew he would not fall asleep. For the first time since he was a cub, he was spending the night under ground.

Xanadu had come down the path again and just saw him crawl into the den. She then jumped down silently and killed a rabbit quickly before walking slowly over to the den and dropping it by the den and knew the smell would fill it soon. She then rolled around quickly on the grass, leaving her scent and jumping back up on the rocks and toward the platform which to the paradise she now lived in was a platform that stuck out but to the desert was just ordinary mountains. She reached the platform easily and lied down, watching Kaisa and whispered very quietly "Without you, my life would be hell". She licked her paws delicatly and looked down at the desert before standing up and looking at the full moon. She then let out a howl, one that echoed around the mountains and Kaisa would hear it. She barked two times before howling again and then lied down and listened for any replies.
Xanadu couldn't sleep on this night, it was freezing cold and she just couldn't sleep. Having hardly any fur, this was difficult and she longed to be in the den with Kaisa but knew that she couldn't. Her eyes pricked with tears again and she let them flow and onto the cold rocks below her, washing off the dirt and leaving a dark spot. Xanadu wrapped her tail around her body and let out a little whine, she hated the cold but needed to stay and to watch Kaisa. Everything was different now she had found him, she just never wanted to leave this amazing beast.

Kaisa must have dozed off, yet he wasn't truly asleep. He had been jolted by the sound of howling, and barking. He crept slowly out of the den, to see a dead rabbit. He went to investigate, and the familiar sent of the femme filled his nostrils. He looked up as a second howl pierced through the night, to see Xanadu standing on a platform, that jutted out from the mountain.
Then there was silence, and the female didn't make another sound. Her barked, the sound ringing out, before picking up the rabbit and taking it under ground. Her then lay in the mouth of the den, listening for any other sounds. he was now fully awake, and would be until the morning. He would eat the rabbit later, as e wasn't presently hungry. He sighed, and let his eyelids close, protecting them from the sand that the wind sometimes blew into them.
