The air was cool and crisp. A slight mist hung in the air around the horses feet. The two stallions looked shocking in the forest clearing, their coats standing out againsed the green of the wood. One figure was a bright mahogany red, while the other was a gingery sheen, with white speckles around his tail. But there was more to this gathering than first seemed.
Squeezie stood lazily in the cool morning. He was content standing with his companion, a light stallion, a little smaller than himself. It was a strange sight to see a dark and light in the same place without a scuffle breaking out, but this light wasn't just any light. The two had known each other as foals, when the little bay foal had sought shelter in squeezies fathers herd, after being toren away from his mother.
Loki was happy standing with his life long friend. They were two loners, keeping to the outskirts of differnt lands, occasionally running togeather. He knew he was safe from a challenge around this stallion, and always would be. The two were inseporable as foals, but as they got older, they went their seperate ways, but were always happy to see the other.
Their ears swivvled round, as a twig snapped a few yards away. Surely it couldn't be wranglers. All of a sudden the stallions were out of their dreeam like state and were tense, ready to run, or fight at any moment.

Maia was three-beating through the lands, when she had stepped on the twig, blowing her quiet cover. Her nares were filled with the scent of two stallions, and she knew she had to show herself, because running from one was hard, let alone two.
Maia stepped out of the bush, her tail up, showing her Arabian blood, and her neck arched. I'm here, might as well try to find a mate. Maia eyed the two stallions, who seemed odd next to each other. One gave off a light vibe, the other a dark. She was quickly drawn to the dark stallion, being dark herself, but she kept a wary eye on the light too.
Hello, I'm Maia. I don't suppose that you two stallions are in search of a mate? You see I need to find someone to spend my days with, but I haven't found the right one, just yet. She swished her tail and ruffled her mane, showing off her natural beauty.

Squeezie pricked his auds at the mare that had just burst through the trees. She had a dark scent, like himself. She was a beautiful dappled grey mare, with the looks of an Arabian. So she was looking for a mate was she? Well, she might just be in luck. He glanced at Loki, who was standing to his left. The other stallions auds were pricked too, he looked more of a curios nature. He raised his head What are you cursed, dappled one? he asked. To a light mare, this would have sounded rude, but it was the way of the darks, and they weren't offended by it.
Loki eyed the mare that had come through the trees. He pricked his red auds, but if she was looking for a mate, she was very unlikely to find one in him, although anything was possible. He saw Squeezie glance at him. To a strange horse, Squeezie's one blue eye would have seemed startling, but Loki was used to his friends odd appearances. He stayed quiet, and let Squeezie do the talking.

Maia stood only about a foot away from the stallions, she eyed them both, studying them closely. The dark one seemed to have very unique looks, but she found it intriguing. The other seemed to have much more stereotypical looks, and seemed rather quiet. She kept the corner of her eye trained on the good one, but her glance was focused on the dark stallion. I am Maia, may I ask what is your curse? She asked sort of both of them, but mostly the dark stallion. She got the feeling that the light one did not want to talk to her.
Of course he wouldn't, you evil to him, your a crazed dark one. So why doesn't he feel the same about the dark stallion? They seem rather relaxed around each other. It was a rare occurrence to see two stallions from different alliances getting along.

Squeezie looked the mare down. Maia. It was a god curse he thought. He turned it over and over in his mind. "The humans call me Manhatten, but my true curse is Squeezie. A strange curse, for my strange looks, and my companion her, is Loki he said, swishing his banner. He had answered for the other stallion, as he figured, he wouldn't be sure weather to respond or not. His eye was marked among the humans, and the lights as [glow=red,2,300]The evil Eye[/glow]. This was a load of rubbish of course, but he liked the effect it had. Loki wasn't sure if the mare was speaking to him as well, and was glad when Squeezie answered for him. He didn't want to seem like the didn't like the mare, but he wasn't quite sure what to say around dark mares. He kept quiet, until he was adressed directly.

Maia nodded as he replied. Well I guess I shall explain myself then. I am searching for a stallion to be my mate and a herd to join. I will fight to control a herd with my mate, if they please too, and I'm sure as a team we could take over any land we want. She spoke to both stallions, leaving the option of either open. It would be odd if she fell in love with the light, because then one of them would have to change their alliance. The dark stallion and her made much more sense, and would make everything easier.
Maia swished her tail, attempting to shoo away some annoying flies. That was why she loved the winter so much, no annoying flies to bug her, and it was much easier to stay warm then to cool off. She eyed both the stallions, waiting for their reply.

A blue roan stag watched silently from a short distance as the two stallions and mares conversed casually. One stallion spoke, while the other one seemed to just observe. The brute fastened his eyes on the mare. She was a looker...that was for sure. Her dappled coat sparkled beneath his eyes as he studied her.
The stag couldn't help but overhear their conversation. Why were a dark stallion and a light stallion together? That usually didn't turn out good...
The blue stud walked forward casually and approached the trio. His golden eyes danced as he spoke in a low voice, "Hello, nymph. Why are you bothering with these two unlikely stallions?" He grinned wickedly and watched patiently for her reaction to his interuptance.
"They call me Scream. What's your cursing?" He flicked his banner towards the other stallions confidently and gave them a quick snort, warning them to leave. This prize was his. Mares couldn't resist his devilish charm.
Scream nodded towards her, "So I couldn't help but overhear that you are looking for a mate...are you seriously considering these pests?" His ears swiveled lightly, waiting for a protest from one of the other stallions. His evil mind was thinking up ways to kill both of them, but he would spare them for the moment. He liked to toy with other brutes. They could get so possessive over mares.
His nares widened instinctively as the wind picked up. A swirl of snowflakes flew easily past his head as he watched the beautiful mare. Hopefully his cruelness wouldn't affect her greatly. At least he was challenging for land.

Squeezie pinned his ears back at the new stallion. If he was thinking he could have this mare, he had better think again. He was a lot bigger than this stallion, and stronger too. If he chose to fight, then he was picking the wrong fight. And besides, it was two againsed one. This stallion was up againsed two stallions, that could fight, and knew how to do it. He turned back to the mare I have been looking for land for a while. I have been patrolling the edges of the lands, eyeing up each one, to choose as my home, that I shall lead he said, now ignoring the other stallion.
Loki watched as another stallion came out of the blue. He snorted. This was a foolish stallion. Get out of here now he spat at the stallion. He had better leave soon. Weather it was with the mare, or without, he needed to leave, and fast. He and Squeezie could easily take him down, no contest.

Maia's nares filled with the scent of another stallion. This could be interesting. She focused her orbs on him, studying him closely. Such fine choices. She compared the three stallions. It would be hard, so she was guessing she would just have to go with who she got along with best.
As the newcomer, Scream, asked for her name, Maia tried her best to ignore his jabs at the other stallions. Her mind wasn't set on fighting today, today was all about finding a suitable mate. I am Maia, pleasure to meet you Scream. She bowed her head to him slightly.
Maia's glanced flickered from one stallion to the next, until she'd gone through all three. There's no need to be hostile, after all I decide in the end. She smiled and chuckled softly, her words peppered with interested flirting.

Scream grinned contently as the mare looked at the three stallions. She can't possible be considering the others brutes. They didn't compare to Scream in power or looks. He flicked his blackish blue tail, annoyed by the other stallion's attempts to be cool. He scoffed at the first stallion, "Like you could even win a fight if you wanted land." He rolled his gold eyes sarcastically and spat at the ground boredly. Could this mare just hurry up and choose? He had a battle to be at and he needed a mate.
"The pleasure is all mine, Maia." The brute did a half bow to her and extended his foreleg in a respectful manner. He liked to give the ladies a good first impression. Scream turned his attention back to the stallions. "What in the world would make you two travel together? Afraid of a big bad stallion like me to come along and threaten you? Got to have a right hand man?" He chuckled under his breath and listened intently to Maia. "The lady is right fellows. Hold your horses. No pun intended." He pinned his ears slightly as the quiet stag spoke. "Why don't you leave now?"
Scream smiled softly to Maia and looked back to the other stallions with a seemingly bored stare. His golden eyes gazed off into the distance as he waited for something to happen.

Maia smiled at Scream. He was definitely dark, just like she liked them. One thing that may make you want to flee and forget all about me, is other mares. If I catch my mate with another mare, despite being dark, I can't promise I won't kill the mare or that you'll walk away without harm done. Maia was honest, it was much better then beating around the bush. That made things blow up right in your face later, better be honest now.
Maia could tell the stallions we're both anxious for a decision. She wanted to decide too, but her mind jumped back and fourth from possibilities for all three stallions. Such hard choices you three bring to my plate. Who to chose, who to chose? She arched her neck and swished her tail, her flirting much more obvious. She didn't have the spring on her side, when all mares were in heat and driving the stallions crazy. Now she just had her natural charm, which still went a long way.

Squeezie snorted at the stallion cursed Scream, but he appeared to be less hostile. He didn't want to drive the mare away. He flicked an ear at the other stallion, partly in warning, and partly in a way saying that the mare had the last say. I would always stay true to a mare, no matter how many others came my way. He said to Maia I would have no problem letting them into a herd of mine, but they would expect nothing from me if I had a mare. It was true. Despite being dark, when he had a mare, he would stick to one mare.
Loki flicked his ears back at the stallion, but didn't say anything. He assumed that as he was light, he had less of a chance with the mare. It didn't bother him too much though. He also knew that he didn't have to say anything about staying with one mare, because, as he was light, he would always stick to one mare. He flicked his ebony banner, to get the flies away. He knew that he would never rule land, and he didn't want to. He would happily settle for a lower position. In the end, it was the mares decision, end of story.

Maia nodded as Squeezie spoke. She believed him fully when he spoke. Not like some other stallions where she had to wonder if they were speaking the truth or full out lying to her. Her eyes darted to Scream. Would he stick with one mare, or would he wander of with multiple mares as he pleased? Maia felt, just because they were dark, doesn't mean mares shouldn't be treated with equal respect. In fact she thought the had more right to demand it then the light mares.
Maia's gaze then landed on Loki, who had been silent except for yelling at Scream. His silence was very intriguing to her. She felt like asking about him, but wasn't sure if he'd answer. It was the first time she'd experienced a real barrier by being a dark. She would never get the chance of getting to know him, and with that she could make a wrong choice in the end.

Scream poised himself a few feet away from Maia and nodded his head thoughtfully. Would he stick with one mare? Yes...if she was the perfect mare for him. Although he was evil, he would only have one true love. He wasn't sure if it was Maia yet...only time would tell.
The blue brute snorted when the first stag spoke again. Did she really believe that? That he wouldn't breed with another mare? Scream shook his head and spoke calmly, "I'm going to be honest with you, Maia. What you are asking of us stallions is hard. If it came down to it, I would be faithful to my mate...but that doesn't mean I won't breed with my herd mares to support my herd. It wouldn't mean anything personally, but it would have to be done. If you are asking me to not help my herd thrive then I'm gone." He eyed her curiously. How would she react to his bluntness. "Don't take me wrong, though. I would stay faithful in any other sense." Scream chewed the inside of his lip as he waited for her reply. Would she believe him? If she didn't want him to breed with other mares then he might as well just leave. As a King that is practically impossible.
He shuffled his weight around on his hooves as he eyed the other studs. Why were they traveling together? How odd...he wouldn't be caught dead traveling with a light. He eyed them curiously and finally questioned, "Seriously, why are you two together? Its not everyday I get to see this combination."
