A chilly wind started to pick up as the buckskin stag loped into the area. He hated living here, but it would suffice until he could find some land. At least now he had a mare to share it with. Rapture tossed his elegantly shaped head and let out a small buck as he ran. His limbs were loose and he had a bundle of energy. Now all he had to do was wait for Mona.
He knew that Mona wasn't happy about coming with him, but he would show her. Show her that he really wasn't evil. That his intentions were good. It wasn't his fault that Batty wouldn't fight him. He was just there to take something away from Batty. That stallion thought too much of himself...
The Quarter Horse paused momentarily to eat the lucious grass beneath his feet. He ate ravenously and swished his tail impatiently. Mona should be here by now. What if she didn't follow him? He thought she seemed pretty true to her word...but was he wrong?
These thoughts flooded the poor brute's mind as he waited. He really just wanted a friend...

Mona followed the scent that filled her nares, leading her to where Rapture was. She wasn't sure what to refer to him as. Surely not as her mate, but not as her leader either. He's just your, stallion. She nodded to herself, agreeing the was a sufficient term for what he was to her.
Mona's orbs found the stallion quickly, and she trotted up to him. She halted beside him, staring warily at him. She bent her neck down and munched on some grass nervously. What would he do to her? What would happen? Would she ever be able to return to her beloved Batty? She didn't know the answer to any of those questions, and it made her more on edge.
Mona hoped Batty would come challenge Rapture, that the fight for the land would happen, and that she would be able to return to her love again. In the back of her mind, she wanted to get to know Rapture too. So Rapture, umm what now? She decided she might as well be nice, it looked like she would be seeing a lot of this stallion.

Rapture jerked his head up as his nostrils filled with the scent of Mona. He smiled towards her, not wanting the mare to be angry with him. He flicked his tail nervously, hoping she wouldn't blow up on him for making her leave. She had said anything...
The buckskin grazed next to her momentarily before she spoke. What now? To be honest he really didn't know...she wasn't his mate...she had no desire to be...what now? Rapture coughed awkwardly and spoke calmly, "Well...I suppose we should get to know eachother since we will be together alot...might as well know what you're stuck with, right?" He chuckled softly, willing her to relax with him. They didn't have to make it this weird.
Rapture thought about himself and then spoke, "Well...ask me anything you'd like. I'll tell you the truth." His auds twitched back and forth quickly as he anticipated her words.

Mona nodded in agreement. It was true. If they made it weird, it would be much less enjoyable for the both of them. Not that the experience should be enjoyable, it was just much easier that way. It was cause Mona less pain, and hopefully in turn, Batty less pain. There was no sense denying the inevitable truth that was her situation. She had said anything, and anything was what he would get.
Mona pondered at the many questions she could ask him. she knew nothing of him except for her was a light stallion named Rapture, and he'd attempted to take her love's herd. That was about it. There were so many things to ask, all related to that one subject. Why did you do it? Do you have a heart? How can you call yourself a light? He had of course made the demand that she go with him, and that seemed hardly light at all.
Mona settled for something a little less dramatic. Where are you from?

Rapture breathed a sigh of relief when she didn't seem angry at him. Hopefully they could start off with a clean slate. He really did want to get to know her...they just didn't meet on the best terms.
The stallion munched on the frostbitten grass casually and flicked his tail. Would things ever be normal between them? Should he just let her go? With just one word she could be gone and everything would be normal. Did he want things to go back to how they were? Did he really want that loneliness back?
His mind overflowed with these thoughts as her words jolted him back to reality. "Oh...umm...I'm from very, very far away...a land that you've never heard of. Where lights don't even get along with eachother..." His voice trailed off as he watched for her reaction to his reply.

Mona nodded, but didn't press the topic anymore. It didn't seem like the kind of thing she should or wanted to know about. A land where lights didn't get along with each other had to be horrible. Certainly, she'd never venture there nor want to.
Mona sighed heavily, her eyes meeting his. She held her eye contact now, knowing this was where she was going to be for as long as he pleased. Yet she didn't mind. For two reasons. One, Batty had already found a new mare, and had long forgotten her. Two, she didn't mind him that much. When he wasn't being so mean, he was pretty nice to be around.
Look, I'm gonna be straight with you. Don't think that I don't want to be here. I would leave and fight with Batty in a second, if that was right for me. I see now, Batty was never right for me. He's already found a new mare. Mona spat the last sentence out. It felt like acid rolling off her tongue. Batty dare call himself a light, when he goes through mares like they are nothing. I actually don't mind you at all. I'd have nothing more to join forces with you and go back and take Batty's land away from him. He deserves to feel pain, like what he caused so many.

Batty had found Mona so quick by following her scent which was still so strong in his lands. "And I know that she knows I'm unfaithful, And it kills her inside, To know that I am happy with some other girl, I can see her dying" he sang softly but tears already brimmed in his eyes as he sung. Mona was the best thing in the world to him but his land needed a mare so he got one, this mare had turned up in his lands but it looked like Mona didn't care.
It looked like no one cared what he thought and it was all about something else but he loved Mona so much that words can't describe. The two figures were now seen and Batty stopped when he looked at the beautiful mare. "Mona" he called and cantered over to the mare before nuzzling her shoulder happily. He thought of the song and nodded I shall sing if she gets angry he thought and then looked into Mona's orbs happily.

Mona could smell Batty long before he arrived. She tried to deny still, telling herself it was just her imagination. Ever since she'd left, all she could smell was his safe scent, hear was his voice, and when she closed her eyes she could see him. Now that he was there, right in front of her, it seemed so unreal, it took her a moment to respond.
As her senses flooded back, so did her anger. He had no right being there. He'd clearly moved on. The only thing that will happen from him coming here, is me feeling worse then I do. His nuzzle put her over the edge. She rolled her eyes and side-stepped away from his touch. Spare me Batty. Why don't you go nuzzle your new mare? I know it's what's best for the herd, but come on? You couldn't miss for more then 2 seconds, before you go off to find another mate? Mona narrowed her orbs into a glare, and backed up a few steps so she was sort of hidden behind Rapture. It had been the first reaction for her, and she didn't really understand it. She looked to Rapture for, protection? It seemed so wrong in her mind, but right in reality.

Batty saw her step away and he stamped his hoof I guess my voice may be needed he thought and looked at Mona. "She turned up in my herd, I couldn't help that and I don't even know her name" he sighed and coughed to clear his throat. He didn't love to sing it public and with the stallion here it was worse but he had to do it for his love and he knew the perfect song for her. "Every breath you take, Every move you make, Every bond you break, Every step you take, Ill be watching you. Every single day, Every word you say, Every game you play, Every night you stay, Ill be watching you. Oh, cant you see, You belong to me, How my poor heart aches, With every step you take" he hoped the song would show her how much he cared but only time would tell.
He tossed his chestnut mane but it still hung limp and now every part of his spirit had been drained, he looked like a tame pony. He tail blew slightly but its colour wasn't as vibrant and his weight was decreasing as ever since Mona had gone he hadn't eat or slept. A yawn escaped his lips but he kept his tired eyes open and enough to look and Mona and give her that look that meant sorry.

Mona closed her eyes and sighed heavily as he sang. Have a backbone Mona! Don't let him walk all over you. She couldn't up and down to ten a few times, trying to gather herself. She stayed in the cover of Rapture's shadow, trying to burrow herself further and further behind him.
Mona glanced away for a moment, her orbs focused on the distance. She tried to chase away the thoughts that were racing through her mind, but they were stuck. She couldn't get them out. The problem was right in front of her face and she had to deal with it. I doesn't matter anymore Batty. Thing are different now, despite what you claim. I know you've moved on, it's very plain to see. The only thing that will come from you being here is more heart ache for me. I know things will never go back. I've accepted that. I can't keep torturing myself when things can't change. Mona kept her eyes on this distance, her head hung low and her ears were pointed forward, but certainly not perked.

Rapture nodded to Mona easily, glad that she was accepting this situation. "Thank you, Mona...that really means alot to me...you have no idea..." He flicked his tail reassuringly as his eyes searched hers.
His ears pinned back angrily as he caught the scent of another. Batty...what did he think he was doing here? "Batty, leave! I told you not to come and try to get her back." He looked anxiuosly to Mona. "I'm not going to kill her, but if you don't leave soon then I'm going to kill you..." He really didn't want to, but he could clearly see that Batty was making Mona uncomfortable. Batty already had another mare? What a player...
Rapture swished his tail rapidly and spat at Batty's feet. "Get out, now. You've caused her enuogh pain." He raised his head high as Mona stepped behind him. Did she really trust him?
His orbs pierced Batty's as he waited for the stag to leave him and Mona. He didn't belong with her anymore. Rapture nudged Mona's side reassuringly, as if telling her he would protect her from the dumb stag.

Mona mustered the best smile she could. She had no idea what to do anymore. Many dark stallions had displayed an interest in her, and being dark was intriguing. She didn't know if she was ready for that though. And Batty, well she loved him, but he didn't seem to care about her at all anymore. Then there was Rapture. She'd never have to change her light ways, and he seemed nice so far. Don't go dark, stay light. Mona thought to herself and nodded. Going dark was not the answer. why give Batty what he wanted.
Next was Rapture or Batty. Mona really had no clue as to who would be the better choice. Although Batty seemed to have made the choice for her. He had tried to move on, and when she confronted him about it, he really showed he was over her. "You've proven me right Mona. I know now Kya is the right one for me." Mona shuttered at the thought of what he had said to her.
Mona stayed silent, not sure what to say to Rapture, or Batty.

Rapture shook his buckskin head from side to side. How did Batty even have the nerve to come here and try to win Mona back. He was only hurting her more. He could see that Mona was torn inside. Her features were etched with worry and Rapture felt sorry for her. If she wanted to go with Batty he would let her....no matter how lonely he was.
The stallion nudged Mona again and spoke in a whisper. "Don't let him do this to you, Mona. You don't have to put up with this. He's trying to make you feel bad, but he's the one who should feel horrible." His voice was deep and quite, only so the mare could hear. "However, if you do wish to rejoin Batty and his new mare I will not stop you...you deserve to have the choice here..." It pained his to say those words, for her company in the past hours had been satisfying enough for him.
Rapture flicked his tail patiently, waiting to see if Batty would man up.

Mona shook her head. I can't live beside him Rapture. I couldn't bare to see him run around with my replacement. Just of the thought of it makes me want to gag. I don't think things will ever be the same, and I'm sure he doesn't want me back anymore. Mona dropped her voice to a trembling whisper. He has Kya now. Her outer lip shook, threatening to make her look like the biggest baby in the world. She closed her eyes again, holding back the moisture attempting to make it's way out. Her legs felt like they would give out any moment, and her body shook slightly. Mona gulped down, trying to muster some courage.
Mona sighed, opening her eyes, she glanced at Rapture and Batty. She shrugged her shoulders. My choice is clear Rapture. He's already moved on. He has shown he wants nothing to do with me anymore. I have no where else to go.
