there's and icebox where my heart used to be...
Strong, but lanky legs carried the young troubadour into the Foal Haven. His hazel eyes glinted gold as he trotted steadily forward. His elegantly shaped hooves picked up snow, giving him the chills. He flicked his whispy tail and shook his short, tuft of a mane. His black splotched bod stood out against the snowy ground.
Insane Inferno came to the Foal Haven to clear his mind. His dad was pressuring him to become some great stallion when Inferno really just wanted to be his own self. He didn't want his father telling him what to do his whole life...he wanted to be let loose on the world.
The small colt sighed heavily, clearly seeing his own breath in the crisp air. The coldness was setting in, causing all kinds of life to die. The trees were withering and the plants were all dying. Even the animals were going into hibernation, away from the chilly weather.
Inferno laid down in the soft snow with a thud. His coat immediately became wet but he didn't care. He just wanted to lay there for a while.

A pure white filly trotted into the lands, her bodice being completely obscured against the backdrop. Her first winter had come, and she was dazzled and excited with the wonderful wet stuff that so clearly matched. Her sharp ice-blue eyes were the only part of her that stood out at all, other than that, you couldn't even tell there was a filly trotting ever-closer to you. Her legs had grown longer, her mane and tail had grown longer, and she had grown more beautiful, and more elegant. Even with the growth spurt, she was still pure filly, and couldn't get enough of the wonderful weather. Aurora's auds pricked as the sound of shuffling hoof-beats came to her, and she instinctively seemed to straighten up, though it wouldn't make any difference. In a world of pure white, a white filly wasn't to be seen. The filly felt safe enough to stand where she was and watch, with curiosity, as the colt came tromping into view, his splotched colt mezmirzing her for but a moment. Aurora let a small breath escape between her velvet lips, watching with disbelief as it curled upwards like smoke from a far-off human camp.
She continued to watch as the colt plopped down in the snow, and his exhalation wasn't heard, but she saw it clearly, twisting high up in the sky, before the breath dispersed, and she took a couple steps forward, trying to get her hooves high enough above the crunching snow so she wouldn't be shuffling. With an inaudible sigh she gave up, and continued to stride forward, seeming to float as her hooves were hidden by the still-falling snow. Her piercing orbs were drilling a hole into the pelt of the colt, and at last her cold, shrill whinny struck through the silence.

Inferno buried his head in the soft, cold substance. He had never seen snow before, and he had already taken a liking to the precipitation that fell easily from the sky. His golden eyes stared off into the distance as if he were in a trance. He lay there, unmoving, and easy target for any kind of predator in these parts. If not for his random black splotches he wouldn't be seen.
His forelock hung limply over one of his unique eyes as he rolled over onto his other side. His whole body was rigid and stiff. As if he were a big frozen block. He couldn't feel any part of himself, but he rather liked the feeling. It was only him and his mind. No dumb body in his way.
Inferno sighed and let the silence overtake him. A piercing whinny cascaded into his ears and he jolted into a standing position. His ears rang uncomfortably as he looked around for the source of the disturbing noise. His eyes grazed over the white and he picked out blue eyes. He snorted angrily and spat at the ground. "What are you doing here?"

Aurora's pillars shuffled through the snow, making a soft whoosh, whoosh sound as she tried to get through. Her fluffy coat still held the baby down, so she wasn't cold at all, she just felt the wet seeping into her bones, every piece of sinew, as she got closer and closer to the colt. Her bodice shivered once as the snow continued to seep in through her thinner coat down by her hooves, but her stance did not move, and she continued to stare at the colt, and by now he had noticed her presence, but not before the colt rolled over to his other side, and the sight ended up amusing Aura.
His lyrics make Aurora smirk, and she replied icily, "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you owned these lands." Her ice blue orbs were glinting, and her banner sliced through the air behind her. "If you simply must know, I'm here to get away from the family." she stated, giving a small shake to rid her top coat of the quickly-melting snow flakes.

Inferno's foal coat was soaking wet when he finally stood up. His teeth chattered uncontrollably as he snorted and shook snow from his pelt. His ears pinned against his head and he swished his tail back and forth vigorously. His mother would kill him if she knew where he was and what he was doing.
The colt's black and white frame turned to face the filly who had disturbed him. His ears were flat against his skull as he spoke. "Oh, please." He rolled his golden orbs and muttered under his breath, "All I need to make his day perfect is a stupid filly..." His words were icy as he stared her down. "Well...same here, but could you get away from the family over there?" He motioned with his nose to a spot on the other side of the Haven, away from him.
