Turning my head slowly, from this way to that way, my dark brown eyes scanned the unfamiliar terrain around me. My nares were flaring, taking in the strong scents of the wild horses. My ears pinned back slightly, and I walked along slowly, slightly wary of the wild equine that might be venturing close to where I was. Snorting softly, I started into a trot, not particularly keen on where I was heading. Hopefully some place with humans. You see, I was a tame mare that happened to be wandering around in the wild. I was broken out of the round pen by a few wild horses, and we fled into the wilderness. I wandered around with them for a few hours, but then I got separated from them, and here I am.
Halting suddenly, my nares flared, taking in a new scent. My ears were alert atop my head, my eyes slightly wide. Turning around slowly, I could see a coyote slinking closer to me. Snorting loudly, I reared up and pawed at the air, hoping to scare away the beast. It didn't work, and he started his dash towards me. Whinnying loudly, I took off at a gallop, my eyes wide and fearful. I paid no attention to where I was going, nor to the terrain around me. I just kept on galloping, hoping to get as far away from the coyote as I could. As I wasn't paying any attention to the terrain around me, I found it a real shock when my hind left leg got caught in some stray, rusted wire. It wound itself tight around my leg, cutting into the skin and flesh, drawing blood. Whinnying out in pain, I stumbled as I slowed down dramatically. I regained myself before I could fall, and I turned my head to take a good look at my wound. I gently raised the injured leg from the ground, careful not to bump it.
Looking back behind me, I could see another coyote slowly walking towards me. This was a different coyote than the other one, though. My ears pinned, and my eyes became wide and fearful. I whinnined out as loudly as I could, hoping for another wild horse, or even a human, to hear me. I certainly didn't want to become a coyote's lunch.

-Sorry bout the shortness. No muse-
Rykos and Arrow //
The sound of howling coyotes met Rykos' ears as he rode along on Arorw. The spotted Knabstrup seemed to glide over the ground in a smooth trot, ears pricked towards the coyote sounds. With a click of his tongue and a quick pat with his heels Arrow lurched forward into a gallop, covering the ground in the Wrangler's Camp quite quickly, Rykos bending low over her neck. With a sort of tinkling whinny escaped from her maw. Though it was a call, back to the one that she had heard from the mare in distress, it held a tone in it that was clearly help. Bow n' Arrow started to go faster, legs pumping underneath her, and Rykos' hair whipping around his face, one hand holding desperately onto his battered cowboy hat.
He heard the scream right after Arrow did, and his face creased with worry. But there was no need to make Arrow go any faster, she was constantly accelerating, trying to get her hooves a good grip on the unleveled ground. She burst forward with an amount of speed that nearly threw Rykos' off, but amazingly he held on, and in a matter of seconds the mare and coyotes were in sight. Their lean bodies didn't show any excess amount of bone, meaning they weren't starving, so it would be beyong wrong to leave the poor mare to die. Arrow, without any instruction at all, jumped right in front of the mare and reared high into the air, not seeming to feel any fear from the advancing coyotes, but in this moment, Rykos slipped off her back, knowing she was fully capable of driving them away. In a second he was by the mare's side, lowering himself to the ground. "May I help you, gorgeous?" he crooned.

The coyotes kept on slinking closer and closer, malice and hunger glistening in their eyes. It was clear that they wanted me to be their lunch, and it scared the living hell out of me. Sure, I've had coyotes chase after me before, and I was always able to bolt away. But, now I'm injured, I cannot run away as I did so many times before, and slowly it began to sink in, that this was my end. But, someone had different ideas.
Hearing the distant call of another equine, my ears imediately prick up, swivelling to catch the distance in which it came from. My eyes, however, remained on the coyotes, wary and frightful as they slinked closer to me. The wait was agonizing, and I began to doubt whether I'd actually make it. The sound of distant, hurried hoof falls broke me out of my train of thought, and the coyotes imediately turned to look at the figure that was getting closer. Before I had time to register who or what it was, an equione threw itself inbetween me and the coyotes; rearing up, and pawing at them. As she reared up, a human slipped off her back, and proceeded to walk slowly towards me, lowerin himself to the ground, all the while, crooning softly, so as not to scare me. "May I help you, gorgeous?" I nickered to him, balancing on three legs, as I slowly reached my injured leg towards him, the rusted barb wire dug deeply into my leg. The blood was trickling slower than what it had been before, but it was still trickling nonetheless.
My eyes reverted to the mare infront of me, and I whinnied out to her. "Thank you so much for saving me! I don't think I would've survived if you guys didn't show up." I attempted a grateful smile, but it only ended up as a half-hearted one, which was not what I was aiming for. My leg was throbbing, and the wound was stinging. With every move I made with my injured leg, if I bumped it harshly on something, the barb wire seemed to dig deeper into the flesh. Nickering softly to the human, I reached my neck out and gently nudged his chest, both in affection and a thanks for saving me from being lunch.
My gaze was drawn back to the mare, as she bravely reared up and pawed at the coyotes, putting herself in harm's way while trying to protect me. I whinnied to her, hoping that she'd be alright fighting them off by herself.

-Sorry, gain.-
Rykos let a smile show on his face at the mare's response. Clearly, this mare hadn't always been wild, or was just amazingly friendly. A shadow crossed his face for but a moment as he looked at the leg. There were pliers in the saddle bag, but for the moment, Arrow was busy. With a sigh he continued to stay on the ground. It was easier down here, and he wouldn't be feeling the strain in his back an hour or two down the road. He gently grabbed the leg and looked it over, seeing how embedded the wire really was. It wasn't good, that was for sure, but it would be fairly easy to untangle the rusted mess.
The spotted knabstrup mare was holding her own greatly against the coyotes, but it really wasn't needed. Their sleek pelts showed they weren't starving, and none of them had any desire to tangle with a healthy equine. In a matter of just minutes they dispersed, yapping loudly in annoyance to themselves. With a snort Arrow walked towards the other mare, and Rykos. Rykos, giving Arrow a quick check-up with his eyes, slowly let go of the mare's leg and started to rummage through the saddle bag. In a couple of moments he had brought out a small, but well-stocked, emergency kit, for horses. He crouched again and grabbed the pliers, snapping them together quickly about six inches away from the leg, that way it wouldn't dig in any deeper.
-Not sure how to go on yet, so go aheads and post her reaction. xD Sorreh! I dunno if I would end up powerplaying...-

I remained as still as I could, watching on as the mare fought against the coyotes. I was worried for her, veen though I don't really know who she is. A sigh reached my ears, and I turned my head slightly and looked down at the man, crouching beside my injured leg. I reached my neck around, lowered it and gently lipped his hair. I turned my head back around to watch the mare fight the coyotes, but a hand gently grabbed my injured leg, and I turned my head to look at the man as he examined it. Flicking my ears back slightly, I reached down close to my leg, and gave it a gentle lip.
Yapping reached my ears, and I jerked my head up quickly, fearing the worse. My eyes were wide, my nares distened, and my heart, racing. I immediately calmed down when I saw the coyotes slink away, and the spotted mare started walking towards us. Still watching the mare, I felt the hand leave my leg, and then I saw the man walk over to the mare, reaching into the saddle bag to grab a kit. He walked back to me, crouched down and grabbed my leg gently. With one swift motion, the pliers clicked together, effectively cutting the wire. I flinched slightly at the slightly 'loud' noise, but calmed down as soon as I realised it was done.
My ears splayed out to the side, and I sighed, lowering my neck down to the ground, holding it not far from it. My soft breathing unsettled the dust on the ground, and stirred it around. My legs ached from standing on three of them for so long, and I gently, as softly as I could manage, pulled my leg from the man's hand, and lowered it softly to the ground, placing it as best as I could on the ground, trying not to cause it to open up again. Lifting my head back up, I slowly began to lift and stretch out each leg, one after the other, all of them except my injured one.
I gently lipped at the man's hair in affection, and then I turned back to face the mare infront of me. I smiled gratefully at her. Sighing softly, I spoke to her. "Thank you." Seeing as how I'm injured, I guess the man will try and take me back with him, and heal my injury the best he can. And, although I just met them, I really wanted to go back with them.

- While retard Proboards decided to freak out. It lost my post... so, this is going to be short and crappy. xD -
Rykos let out a soft chuckle as the mare lipped his hair. "It's not quite straw honey, you'll have to wait a little longer for that," he laughed, marveling at how friendly the wild mare was. "You're a friendly one," he murmured, still keeping the crooning tone to the mare, watching as she once again dipped her head and her lips touched the injured leg. "How'd you manage to get yourself into this mess? And who would let a barbed wire fence just rust, and by the camp? Crazy." Rykos said, trying to ramble on purpose. He watched as the wild mare flinched when the pliers clicked together, thankful it didn't scare her enough to make her bolt.
When she tried to gently rest the leg on the ground he let go, and took the time to grab a clean glove, a clean rag, and a little tube of numbing ointment. Low strength and approved for the use of anyone, even if they weren't a vetrenarian, and wasn't too great. He dabbed a bit of the ointment around the wound, and waited a moment for it to take affect. Hoping that it would, Rykos took the end of the wire and slowly started to unwind it from the leg, clipping the wire every now and then so it wouldnt get too long and end up grabbing the leg again. He stopped and waited a moment for the mare's reaction, and then continued, trying to work quickly and effeciently. "Youre welcome," Arrow said, not moving from her spot.

I remained as still as I could, and a soft chuckle reached my ears. "It's not quite straw honey, you'll have to wait a little longer for that," Another laugh came from the man, before he continued. "You're a friendly one." He crooned again, and out of the corner of my eye, I could see him watching me. "How'd you manahe to get yourself into this mess? And who would let a barbed wire fence just rust, and by the camp? Crasy." Well, how I got here, I don't quite remember. I've been out in the wild for a while.
When I was busy stretching my legs, I could see out of the corner of my eyes, that he moved for his medical kit, and grabbed a few items from it. Knowing what was coming, I lowered my neck, and held my head close to the ground, my soft breathing stirring up the dust. I felt something cold touch my wound, and I knew it was something of his, something to help get this coiled wire from around my leg. My eras splayed to the side, and I closed my eyes, all the while breathing softly. A few times I winced as the wire was being removed from my leg, but, for the most part, the stuff that he put on my wound worked like wonders. "You're welcome," I opened my eyes slightly, and looked to the mare, offering a small smile, before closing my eyes again, and waiting for the wire to be fully uncoiled.
(Sorry if it's crappy. Only got about 4 hours sleep last night xD)

In no time at all the wire had completely been detangled from the mare's leg, and now all that was left for the temporary care was to bandage it up. Rykos picked up some gauze and one of the rolls of tape-like bandages that you used on a human, or a horse, and lightly peeled off a sheet of gauze, making sure it was in between so nothing could have been exposed to it. Pressing the gauze lightly to the mare's leg he started to roll the bandage around the gauze, forming a very temporary bandage for the wild mare. He stood up in short movements and then stretched, feeling the tightness creeping into his back from bending over and concentrating for so long. When he gave the leg a final look over, and the mare herself, he flipped out his phone and dialed the vet. "Hey, it's Rykos, the owner of Forest Flare Ranch. I was wondering if you could come by later today, evening-wise, there's a mare that got caught up in rusted barbed wire, and I would like you to look at it. Thanks. You can reach me at the ranch number, it should be in the files." He carefully closed to phone and slowly walked back towards the wild mare, reaching out a hand to see if she would accept it. "Would you like to come with us?" he asked, out of the corner of his eye seeing Arrow take a few steps closer, what looked to be a horsey smile answered the other mare's on her maw. The leather rope and the normal rope were hanging down from the horn of the saddle at the moment, easy enough for Rykos to reach, but first, he wondered what the wild mare would decide.

It didn't take long for the wire to be un-tangled from around my elg, and the man put a piece of gauze on my wound, and started to wrap it up with a bandage. He stood up, stretching, then, he pulled some weird contraption from his pocket, and started to talk into it. "Hey, it's Rykos, the owner of Forest Flare Ranch. I was wondering if you could come by later today, evening-wise, there's a mare that got caught up in rusted barbed wire, and I would like you to look at it. Thanks. You can reach me at the ranch number, it should be in the files." When he had finished speaking into it, he closed it and put it away in one of his pockets, then turned to me, holding out a hand. "Would you like the come with us?" Reaching my neck out towards him, I sniffed at his hand for a second, before gently lipping it, as a way of saying that I would go with them.

You first, I guess. Mainly cause I'd have no idea what to post about, lol. Rykos could possibly sort of try and walk her there, very slowly, and be patient while he does so?
