Roxy sat by the gate of the training ring eating her lunch. She glanced down at her cheese and lettuce sandwich. She picked it up and took a big bite. Setting it back down on her lap, she glanced around at farm and smiled. Horses dotted the landscape, showing that this was clearly horse country.
Roxy could see her own horse Blitz very clearly. He was munching away at some hay, and was completely content to just stand there and eat. Roxy was planning to go for a ride with him after she finished her lunch.
It was cold outside, but Roxy didn't mind. She was all bundled up in her winter clothes. Winter was her favorite, much better then hot and humid weather. She took a few more big bites of her lunch, polishing it off quickly. She rose to her feet, and stretched out her legs and arms. She glanced around, hearing something, her eyes fixing on the source of the noise.

Lorrie took the horse into the training pin. She had already had the horse used to a bridle and saddle all she had to do is get it used to a person on it. She told it sweet nothings while she swung herself into the saddle. The mare whinny and she started to buck. Lorrie dug her feet in the stirrups and squeezed with her legs to keep her onto of the horse. I can tell this will take awhile she thought bitterly.

As Roxy focused on the source of the noise, her eyes widened. she say a older girl sitting on a wild bucking mare. Wow. It looked so amazing, that this girl was able to stay up there, while the mare bucked like that. Roxy wanted to be able to do that, but she fell off sometimes if her horse bucked when he got excited. And his bucks were no where near as out of control as those.
Roxy hugged the fence, watching closely as they flew around the ring. The thudding of the mares hooves was the only thing she could hear. Roxy stayed very still, careful not to freak out the mare. Amazing. Roxy knew that some day she'd want to catch and train her own horse. Not yet though. Her parents thought she was to much of a baby to even go near a wild horse, let alone jump on one's back.

Lorrie noticed someone near the fence watching. She couldn't really see everything was a blur. Lorrie started to pull on the reins while telling the horse sweet nothings. The mare's ears flickered back towards her showing she was listening. Lorrie grinned but she knew this was just the beginning of the horse's training. She than looked at the figure watching seeing that it was a cute girl that was probably around the age 11 who was staring in awe. Lorrie than dismounted patting the horse in the shoulder.

Roxy knew the rider had noticed her. As she dismounted Roxy cleared her throat quietly and stepped out from behind one of the fence poles. Sorry for intruding, I just saw you riding and well, that was amazing. She moved slowly, climbing on top of the fence. She wasn't sure if she should climb right in. The mare seemed fine until someone got on her, but Roxy didn't want to chance it.
I'm Roxy Matthews. She introduced herself and smiled. He cheeks felt a little warm, because she knew she'd been caught spying. It wasn't really spying, you were just watching quietly. Okay so it was sort of spying, it's not every day a little girl saw someone taming a wild horse.
She studied the mare that stood in front of her. Her sides were heaving and her coat was slightly damp from sweat, but she was a beautiful animal. She had muscles all over, and the nicest face Roxy had ever seen.
