Breaking In

Nicola opened up the trailer and a horse bolted out and into the training ring. She bucked a little and then calmed down so Nicola walked in and shut the gate behind her. "here girl" she called to the horse and held the tack in her arms while the horse trotted carefully over. Nicola adjusted the straps of the bridle and then attempted to place the bit into her horses mouth. She let the horse eat some oats out of her hand and then she placed the bit in and quickly placed the bridle over her head and adjusted the straps.

Crazy Diamond ate the oats happily and then tasted the horrible metal taste instead of wonderful oats. She started to buck and kick at Nicola for putting the horrible thing in her mouth and after seeing her run out of the paddock she reared. Her legs kicked high before dropping to the ground and Crazy Diamond tossed her head about, trying to get rid of the thing on her head. She saw the gate open and Nicola come in so her eyes widened and she saw her take the thing of of her head and it was now held in her mistress' hand.

-------Day 1 of training over-------

-------Next Day-------

Nicola stepped into the paddock with Crazy Diamond by her side. She closed the gate and picked up a hackamore, a bridle without a bit. "Lets work on that later girl" she said feeding some oats to the horse. In a slow movement she put the hackamore over her head and tied the straps. She fed her some more oats and stroked her neck happily.

Crazy Diamond felt the hackamore go on and waited for the metal which never came. It was wonderful to not have the metal in her mouth and she whinnied in delight. The reins clipped on the hackamore and she didn't even feel it which was amazing for the horse. She started to trot around happily and then her owner started to take the hackamore off.

Nicola took the hackamore off and then replaced it with a bridle. She put it over her horse and slowly put the bit in her mouth and saw the horse immediately snort. She stroked her neck and loosened the straps so it didn't draw right in the corners of her mouth so Diamond could play around with it.

Crazy Diamond flicked the bit about in her mouth and whinnied as her mistress patted her neck. The straps were slowly tightening and she felt the bit go further into her mouth so she neighed loudly. The straps were loosened at the bit came off. Crazy Diamond saw Nicola hold it in her hand and she breathed out in relief.
