The weather was perfect, it was cold, but perfect for the dogs. The sun was shining and throwing little warmth towards the human places, yet with a warm jacket thrown over the human himself, it was a beautiful day. Rykos walked on the grey sidewalk towards the park, a black leash in his hand. On the other end of the leash was a Native American Indian Dog, an uncommon breed around anywhere near here. His first appearances shocked many, for the coloring of his coat was almost identical to the wolf's, and many wouldn't notice the face of him. It was obviously not of a wolf, but of a domesticated dog. Though the size, appearance, and sometimes personality were of the wolf.
"Come on Shrap," Rykos said as the dog stopped to sniff at a nearby wrapper. They were heading to the park, which was an unsual thing for them, since there was a bunch of green outside pretty much every window, so the park wasn't needed. But Rykos thought it would be a good idea to let Shrapnel play with some of his own species for once, instead of the random foxes and horses that were the only animals seen on the ranch, that wouldn't run away from Shrapnel at the first sight anyway. They had reached the park, and as Shrapnel started to pull against the leash, Rykos unclipped it from the light chain collar the dog wore, and Shrapnel was speeding away.

Josh walked down the narrow pavement, with his chocolate labrador, Minty at his heels. They were going to the park, whcih only happen about twice a week, as Josh was busy most of the time, and besides, he had a large garden for Minty to run around in. Minty had been a present from his parents, just before he had left home. He was a well behaved dog. Well, for a dog of 6 months he was well behaved. In his mind, no Labrador was completely sane, esspecially one of 6 months.
Josh entered the park grounds, and looked around. The park was full of dog walkers, children playing noisily, and elderly couples having picnics with, what he hoped, were their grand-children. He unclipped Minty from his leash, and watched him tear off across the grass, ears flapping behind him. He saw him run off with another dog. One that looked a little like a wolf.

Shrapnel's ears pivoted as he heard the approach of another dog, and in one swift motion he was running the opposite way, straight at Minty. A playful roar reverberated from his maw as he dashed towards the other dog, banner flying out behind him like an equine. He leapt through the air, seeming to fly for a moment, and then landed, perfectly to the left of the other canine, and stood there, banner raised slightly, harks up, and tongue lolling. "Shrapnel." came Rykos' voice as he brought a hand up and pushed back his blonde locks. The dog looked towards him, caught the warning glance in his eyes, and then looked back towards the other canine, grinning.
"Sorry about that," Rykos muttered to Josh, turning to look at the person who had just arrived. "Hey, do I know you from somewhere, you look very familiar." He said as he walked a bit closer to where Josh was, trying to pinpoint where he had seen the newcomer. If he didn't.. it would be bugging him for the longest time. Shrapnel continued to grin at the other canine, then bowed, rear end sticking up in the air and wagging, a sign of play.

Minty barked. He ran toward the new dog, tail wagging furiously. He sniffed the new dog for a few breif seconds, then bounced off, wanting the other dog to play. Minty was always up for a good romp around. he was a very playful animal, and Josh wondered if he would ever calm down.
He looked up at the person walking towards him. He looked oddly farmilliar. He remembered the face, but the name couldnt come into his mind. It would annoy him for ages, trying to work out what he was called, and how he knew him. "I don't know." he said "I swaer i have seen your face before, but i just can't remember where".
Minty ran back and fourth, to the the other dog, in a playful way. he did this for a while, before laying down, panting in the coll grass. Josh knew that it wouldn't be long before the dog started to run again.

Shrapnel was speeding up, hearing the pursuing pawbeats behind him, but then he stopped and turned to the other dog, catching his scent for a moment, and then letting out a quiet woof. He followed the other dog's movements precisely, except when Minty sat down, Shrapnel pounced, letting out a scream of playful challenge that made Rykos almost burst into laughter. "Silly dog," he muttered, and then listened to Josh. When Josh confirmed that even Rykos looked familiar, the name started to form on his tongue, but still, he couldn't place it. "This is going to bug me..." he muttered, and then he had it. "High school! You were in Mr. Patson's Geometry class, right? I think it was Sophmore year or something like that..." Rykos offered, having a pretty good idea that the high school part was right, but still fuzzy on the class assumption. He glanced at the two dogs for a moment, to make sure no fight had broken out, but all was well. He turned back to Josh expectantly, hoping he was right. He was looking for someone to help run the ranch, and if Josh who was who he thought he was, then things would hopefully fall into place.

Minty rolled on to his back as the other dog pounced on him. He barked enthusiastically, befor getting up, and running around once more, round in circles, around the other canine, in a gesture of play. Josh glanced over, and almost felt dizzy watching the two dogs. He looked back at the guy in front of him, still not bringing the name to mind. When the other said High School, it all started to come back "No, I was never with Mr. Patson. I think I remember you frome Mrs. Parks Biology class" he said. He had fuzzy memories of the guy in class. Yes it had to be. If only he could remember his name. Josh was sure it would come to him eventually, but that would probably be at about ten O'clock, when he was watching T.V, and something jogged his memory. No, he would have to ask the guy, but he would wait for the right moment to do so.

Shrapnel narrowed his eyes as the other canine jumped up and ran around him in circles, and his tail went stiff, though he himself was just making gestures of play, in his own little way. Tracking the canine's movements, he waited for the right time, about the third circle, and then, pounce! Shrapnel sprang at the other dog, not really sure if he took the other dog tumbling with him or not. He rolled about four complete 'saults and then stood up and shook his fur out, tongue hanging lazily out of his mouth, but eyes bright. There, the word biology hit him like a punch, and he remembered distinctly the guy that had sat two seats away from him, was this guy standing in front of him right now. "Uck, biology. That class was absolutely horrible... your name starts with a J, right? Oh, mine's Rykos." Ry said, trying desperately to remember the person's name.
