Jakob Dare Jake gave a frustrated groan as he looked at the empty beach. The freaking town was so small there were little to no people on the beach. Which happened to be one of the most popular spots where he lived previously. This tiny town was practically driving him insane. He slammed on his brakes and the bright red corvette drew to a stop. He hopped out and shut the car door with a satisfying 'thud'. He ran a hand through his spike black hair and bit his bottom lip. What was he going to do on a beach where there was practically no one else? Well, this was going to be a boring afternoon. He walked towards the beach, almost sighing when he felt the sand beneath his flip-flop clad feet. Once he got near enough to the ocean, he ditched the sandals and tugged at the edge of his loose t-shirt, till it came smoothly over his head, revealing his perfectly toned body. He dumped the shirt on the sand, right next to where his shoes were. He still wore baggy swimming shorts as he walked by the edge of the water. The light lapping of the waves did quite a bit to ease off on the stress of his current situation in life.
His brown eyes glanced upward as a gull circled above the expanse of water, he disregarded it after a brief moment and looked at the clear and bright sky. At least it was no longer winter, and he could actually come to the beach. Even if it was void of people. The sun shone down on his form, and warmed him up, despite the light breeze that continued to brush his skin and tease his short hair. He hummed a small tune as he stared out over the waves. What was he going to do? His parents had bluntly told him he was coming here, and they weren't going to give him money to get his own ranch. Which meant he needed a job. He grimaced, the city boy was not familiar with having to get money by himself. Not that he had no experience with horses, he had quite a bit, and was a good horseman, but working to make money, the whole concept was new to him. He was used to having everything handed to him on a silver platter, just like the red corvette he had drove here.

"Hey Deputy, come boy, aren't you excited to run free at the beach because no one's..." Treece stopped abruptly when she noticed someone was actually there. She cursed silently. She didn't want to meet anyone today. Her shyness would get a hold of her especially if the guy was hot.
Deputy started barking wildly at the slim, fit figure in the water with his back to him. Deputy didn't like that, he wanted to see his face, but at the same time, he could be a new friend. Deputy began wagging his tail and continued barking.
"Calm down boy." Treece scratched Deputy's head and tugged him further east away from the mysterious man on the beach. When she felt far enough away she unhooked Deputy showing him his favorite ball. "You want it buddy? Huh?" Deputy barked as if to say "yes" and Treece threw it as far as she could sending her dog into a running sprint. She removed her pants and toss them onto a bag she carried with her, and took off her teal top exposing her blue and light blue polka dot bikini set. She left her slippers on afraid the sand would sear her feet.
She squinted to see Deputy. "Did I throw it that far?" She thought.
Deputy had picked up the ball and carried it to the man wading in the water. He wagged his dusty brown tail and barked, placing the ball beside the stranger. He barked again, his tail wagging so fast that his hips had trouble keeping his hind legs down.

Jakob Dare Jake had only been on the beach for five or so minutes, and he was already bored to death. He groaned as he watched the placid waves. Nothing was exciting here. He couldn't even surf because the waves just weren't right for it, at least, not at the current moment. Really, what did you do in this town for fun? He stomped down the urge to grumble aloud about his misfortunes. His parents kept telling him it was all his fault. He, at the moment, envied his younger sister. At least she wasn't forced to live in this hick town, where everyone seemed to speak with a drawl and had no sense, in his mind at least. Here he was, standing on the beach, and yet, wishing he was back in the city, filled with traffic and pollution. Not that those were the reasons he wanted to go back. Naw, he wanted to be back where everyone was sane. And where there might be girls to flirt with...
The sound of a dog, caused him to turn his head. His gaze landed on a girl throwing a ball into the water, and the aforementioned canine chasing after it. He allowed his eyes to roam, a small smirk tugging at his lips as he saw her fit body, in a bikini no less. Hot. His eyes left her for a moment as her canine sloshed his way towards where he was standing. A small, sincere smile played across his lips. "Hey buddy, if I saw correctly, I wasn't the one who threw that. However, it does give me the perfect chance to meet your owner." He took the ball from the dog's mouth, grinning as he made his way towards the girl. "Somehow, I believe your dog mistook who threw the ball." His brown eyes sparkled as he spoke to her.

Treece sighed when she saw Deputy had approached the stranger. She got ready to call his name and possibly storm off the beach until she saw the guy start walking towards her. She closed her eyes and wished it all away. When she opened them the guy with the perfect body was standing in front of her. She checked him over glancing at his desirable abs. She looked back up at his brown eyes with her own.
She quickly grabbed the ball from his hand and cleared her throat. "Well yeah, Deputy tends to that, whoever is closer to throw the ball." She folded her arms and looked down, in shyness. She sighed having inherited the family's chest, any other day she may have flaunted it but not today, she didn't feel confident today. Deputy followed her hand behind his owner trying to get the fall from her. He barked causing Treece to jump and drop the ball. She grabbed the man's shoulders for balance and righted herself. "Um, sorry, about that. He kind of spooked me..."
Deputy picked up the ball and sat at the side of the stranger looking up at him picking up sand as his tail wagged steadily.
Treece looked back up to him and decided to make small talk instead of acting strange. "So, what's your uh, name? I'm Treece, and this of course is Deputy." She grinned.

Jakob Dare A faint smirk was on his lips, he saw her eyes sweet his body. Not that he was complaining, but he liked to know when a girl did it. Call it an ego boost, if you will. Once her eyes locked onto his, he grinned at her, smirk vanishing as if it had never existed. An amused look entered his eyes as she grabbed the ball from his hand and tried to mumble an excuse. "Sorry darlin', I didn't quite catch that with you looking down and all." He grinned at her mischievously. He couldn't resist teasing people. "Deputy huh? Seems like a good dog." He complimented her pet, knowing that animals were almost everything to the people in this town. Another smile came to his lips as Deputy barked, causing the girl to jump. A crooked smile appeared on his lips at her explanation. "You sure I don't make you nervous, sweetheart?" He stated it casually, almost as if he was merely asking if she came to the beach often. Even tossing in the term of endearment without a hint of anything else.
He crouched down and picked up the ball as the canine eyed him expectantly. "Cheeky pooch, aren't you." He said with a soft chuckle, throwing the ball, causing it to fly a good ways away. He had always been good in the sports area, as well as his sister, physical things came naturally to them. He wasn't put off by the apparent shyness of the girl he was talking to, that never caused him to do anything but try harder. "Jake Dare." He offered his name in response to he statement, switching his brown eyes back to her. "Treece?" He grinned, "Do you happen to have any older brothers that might hunt me down later?" He threw out, teasingly.

She nodded, "Deputy is a good dog. Playful, sweet, and a great lap dog when he's worn out." Treece smiled and spoke as if she was describing her new boyfriend. She looked at him, her smile still fresh. Her smile disappeared when he asked whether or not he made her nervous. Her cheeks warmed up under the sun and she knew they were burning red beneath her light caramel skin.
Her heart fell when she saw how far he threw the ball. "What if this guy's a maniac?" She thought to herself. She tried to grin to hide her worry. "Well, hi Jake, nice to meet you." She raised her arm in a light wave and looked passed him towards Deputy who was running out into the water towards his floating ball. He loved that ball and rarely played with anything else.
She looked back to him, "I have a brother named Kenneth. He is pretty protective of me. He has fought a couple of guys because they hurt me, but I only let him do it if the guy really hurt me." Treece was so oblivious to a guy's true motives. She watched as her dog paddled farther out closer to the horizon. "So, what brings you to the beach, in that flashy corvette?" She pointed behind her to where she'd seen it last knowing most people rode their horses or walked to where they needed to go.

Jakob Dare He just barely was able to keep the smirk off his face as she started gushing about her dog, he had so obviously touched the perfect subject. His brown eyes lit up again as she looked at him with a non-forced smile on her lips. She was much prettier when she did that. When he made his flirty comment, he watched her smile disappear and saw the light red that dusted her cheeks. Embarrassing her apparently didn't take much. All at once, he realized his direct approach wasn't going to work on this girl. Not that he was going to change tactics. He liked teasing shy girls, it was fun to see their reactions.
He threw the ball casually, not really exerting himself as he did so, with a more calm look he watched the dog take off after the toy as if his life depended on its retrieval. He glanced back to her, her smile back, but he noticed the difference, it was a fake smile. He previous comment had been a joke, about him making her nervous, but he was beginning to wonder if she actually was scared of him. He gave him a gentle smile, hoping to calm her down so that she wouldn't freak out on him. "Nice to meet you too, love." He responded in a polished english accent. He had grown up in several boarding schools, the majority of them in England. Therefor, the accent actually was a true accent and not a fake one he had put on for laughs.
One eyebrow raised as she talked about her brother in response to his teasing comment. "So I should be afraid, or shouldn't?" He asked her with a playful grin after she finished talking. The longer she talked, the more he got the impression that she was very innocent... He smirked as she questioned him about his car. "Had to find something to do in this town. And the corvette, standard transportation. I don't have a horse or a ranch yet, and I feel like I might get arrested for it." He commented, referring to the fact that everyone was so horse crazy in this town.

She smiled wildly at his accent, "You grew up in England!?" She blurted like a crazed fangirl. Treece quickly calmed down but her smile remained, she loved the accent on him but didn't want to throw herself on him over it. Removing a thin elastic from her wrist she tossed her hair into a messy ponytail as the wind began to pick up. She hated having her hair smack her in the face, one of her biggest pet peeves. "You know I've always wanted to go to England and get out of here for a few days. Or maybe a week...but of course I have to bring Little Deputy with me." Deputy climbed out of the water, ball in mouth as he shook his body dry with strength.
He trotted back over to Treece and dropped the ball beside her. This time he laid down ready for a couple minutes of rest and possibly food. She looked away when he brought up her brother again, "You don't have to be afraid unless you plan to hurt me...and keep me alive anyway." She chuckled at her twisted joke.
She tilted her head while looking at his hair almost missing his comment. Still glaring she spoke quietly almost as if in a trance, "Arrested for not having a horse? Well, that's a possibility," her eyes shifted to his, "Just don't let the sheriff catch you without one." She chuckled again at her horrendous jokes. Quickly frowning Treece patted her thighs suddenly running out of things to say. She looked from him and down at Deputy who had a look of boredom and sleep sprawled across his face. "Well, there's lots to do here..." She blurted out. "...like races, and horse competitions, horse wrangling, horseback riding, horse..." She shut her eyes as if in pain when she realized she had listed things all involving horses. She looked at him and quickly brought up another topic. "Um, are you hungry? I got some sandwiches. I hope you like sandwiches. I love sandwiches. I don't like horse radish on my sandwiches though." She smiled oddly, unsure of herself.

Jakob Dare Jake, for once, was actually surprised. Right before his eyes he watched the seemingly shy girl, change to an overexcited one that looked ready to throw herself at him. His brown eyes widened at the sudden change in her personality. "Yes, was it the accent that tipped you off?" He asked, no longer working to hide his accent as he had before. He knew some girls loved accents, but this was almost insane. As he spoke, he had to bite his tongue to keep the word 'love' from following, like it so commonly did when he was addressing a cute girl. His brown eyes watched her movements as she put up her hair, he glanced at her curiously as she started talking about England more. "I don't think Deputy's so little" He told her with a chuckle as the canine came up and shook the water from his fur. "But yes, England is a place to go, though it can be a tad drab with the rain and all." He grinned at her.
He looked at her as she tried to joke. "What would the fun in having you around if you were dead?" He joked, not that he had those intentions what so ever. Not that he would say no to it... Anyways, back on track. Jake shook his head, trying to keep his mind from wandering onto... other things. His smile barely tilted the side of his mouth as he watched her curiously. He hadn't really figured her out. Usually when he met a girl, he could have her personality pegged easily.
The teen almost jumped when he saw her glare. What had he done, honestly? This girls moods just kept changing with the wind. Which, undeniably, was what made this sort of interesting. "Yes, I suppose I should avoid the sheriff. Wouldn't want a run in with the law to tarnish my record." He returned her joke with one of his own. The conversation rolling on quite easily. He raised an eyebrow as she rambled at what you could do in town. Grinning when he spotted that she had realized she was listing everything to do with horses. "Thanks for the offer, love." He said with a grin and a wink.

She looked at him and nodded, "Yeah, that accent is amazing!" She stroked her hair, knowing she had stray edges flailing wildly in the wind still. Treece frowned, "Yeah Deputy isn't little anymore, but he's still my baby, I got him as a little puppy and he's been there for me ever since along with my Clydesdale."
Fixing her bikini strap she smiled, "I guess I wouldn't be much use to anyone if I was dead huh?" She noticed his odd look and suddenly her shyness rushed in and her cheeks flushed quickly. Looking at the sky she watched the fluffed up clouds crawl by above them. Her head slowly moved down and she watched as her dog's body rose and fell with his steady breathing. She sighed not sure of what she was doing.
Changing the subject to bring her spirits up she spoke with a smile, "Well the sheriff here is very nice, I swear it." She leaned over and sat down in the sand. Motioning Jake to join her she opened the bag after pushing her pants off. Deputy rose with his tail fanning and he began to salivate. Treece took out a bowl and poured a serving sized pouch of dry food into the bowl. "Did you want something to eat? I got fruits, sandwiches and deli meats..." She kept her eyes off him and looking into the bag.

Jakob Dare He gave her a grin as she complimented his accent. Yeah, he definitely hadn't lost his charm just from being out of practice for a while. His gaze drifted to her hair, strands flying away from her face at the breeze the ocean had brought. He brought his attention back to her face, listening to her talk about her dog, Deputy. "Clydesdale?" He asked with slight surprise. He looked her over again, she was kind of small to be handling a horse that large. Then again, maybe he was jumping to conclusions, then again, maybe the horse was a gentle giant.
His gaze strayed to her bikini top when she adjusted it, dang it. He was trying not to look there. Almost forcefully, he brought his eyes and focused them back on her face. "No, I can honestly say you wouldn't." He said with a soft, deep, chuckle. A cocky grin took over his lips as she blushed and looked away from him. So she was a tad shyer than most of the girls who around him. She was still hot.
Again his deep throated laughter left his mouth at her comment about the sheriff. He had more than his fair share of run ins with the law. Which you could say, was why he was in this small town. Parents couldn't control him, so to speak. The fact that she couldn't look at him, as she asked what he would like to eat, just made him grin again. He sat down next to her, careful to have an inch or so separating their body's. "How about a sandwich, hmm?"

Treece smiled. "Yes, a Clydesdale." She chuckled at his surprise. "More obedient then Deputy there." She tossed her head lightly in her pup's direction who was chomping loudly on his food. She dug around in here bag for a ham sandwich. When she turned around she noticed that Jake was now sitting beside her. Her lips parted but now words escaped her mouth. She looked over his rather flawless face. Her face began to burn realizing she was staring, she felt it had been hours when it was only seconds. "I, uh, hope you like honey...honey um...honey glazed ham." She forced a smile to rid herself of her awkwardness. She'd never been graced with the presence of a cute boy, and a cute boy who wasn't stuck in their chaps all day. The change made her grin.
With her arm outstretched, Deputy left his empty bowl and sat in front of the sandwich glaring at it and his owner simultaneously. Treece didn't notice him, even out of the corner of her eye as she was fixed onto Jake's face waiting for his reply. She felt a tug on her hand and her head swung around. "Deputy! No! Bad dog!" Deputy ran away with the sandwich and the bag in his mouth. Treece stood up and took a few steps to run but knew she wouldn't catch him. When Deputy felt safe he dropped the sandwich, ripped the bag and ate it in two bites. He laid down and licking the bag for the taste. Treece turned around to look at Jake. "I'm so sorry! He's such a bad dog sometimes...I have another sandwich if you'd like." She reached in her bag and took out another one, handing it to him, this time, without staring..
((Why Yes! It was my birthday! Thank you so much. And it's fine you reply when you can. c:))

Jakob Dare "I suppose it's more important that your horse should obey you than your dog." He mused, then added with a grin. "Considering the rather large size difference between the two." He smiled at her flirtatiously when she turned to look at him but found him sitting close to her, apparently, she hadn't been expecting that. She kept opening her mouth but nothing came out. He chuckled light in response to this. He cocked one eyebrow as she seemed to snap out of her daze, a cute blush covering her cheeks. "Love it" He responded nonchalantly, for her sake, not mentioning the fact that she had been staring at him.
Jake turned to watch the dog as he saw Deputy move out of the corner of his eye. An amused glint appeared in his brown eyes as he watched the dog snatch the food right from Treece's hand. Jake jumped slightly when she let out a sharp reprimand. Deputy didn't look even the slightest bit remorseful as he happily chomped down on his prize. In all of two seconds, the only that remained of the food was crumbs that were barely visible. He gave Treece a grin as she started apologizing for her canine's antics. "Don't worry about it, I understand completely, I've had my fair share of animals." He accepted the new sandwich with a smile of thanks in her direction. "So, do you have a ranch?" He asked her curiously, while he opened the bag and took a bite.

Treece sat back down and grabbed a sandwich for herself, then handed Jake a bottle of ice water. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves, and grabbed a bottle for herself. She took a short sip and opened the bag. "What kind of animals did ya' have?" She took a small bite of her sandwich, trying not to seem like a pig. She wiped her mouth with a napkin and chewed slowly. Before she knew it Deputy was sitting in front of her watching her eat. She turned her body to face Jake ignoring her greedy go who just moved over and angled his body at her. She smiled at his question, "Why yes, I do have a ranch that I share with my brother. It's nothing much in my opinion, or compared to others here, but I like it." She took another bite and licked her lips. "I know you don't have one, but are you looking for a ranch? Or maybe even a Horse to replace that Corvette, maybe...a mustang?" She gave a great big "kool-aid" smile forcing herself not to laugh at her own terrible jokes.

Jakob Dare Jake accepted the bottle of water, and set it down next to him. Taking another bite of his sandwich before returning his brown gaze to Treece. He grinned at her question, typical of a girl in a small town such as they were in. "Cats, dogs, horses, a snake at one point in time, and even a rat." He chuckled, his mother had not been happy about his dad letting him get a snake and a rat. "My father insisted that it was normal for a boy of my age to want a rat or snake." He grinned at her.
He listened with interest as she talked about her ranch. He had to admit, from the short time he had been here, he had seen some fairly impressive ranches. None like he had been expecting. "Your brother huh?" He asked with a mischievous smile. He smirked at her small joke, but laughed when he saw her large smile, almost like the Cheshire cat off of Alice in Wonderland. "You're cute when you do that." He said with a devilish grin on his lips. "And yeah, I'm looking for a place to work, and eventually I hope to get myself a horse." He picked up his water bottle and took a drink, before setting it back down on the ground beside him, and taking a bite of his sandwich.
