My delicate legs walked through the land, I hadn't got a clue where I was or where I was going. I didn't dare neigh to see for horses as their could be predators. No, there was predators. A huge mountain lion was stalking me, I saw it and then ran. My legs powered me on and I glanced behind me to see it trying to snap at my legs. I couldn't fight it, I was only 1, a foal coul never kill a huge beast like that. I tried to gallop faster, but my legs were started to buckle on me. I then smelt it, the smell of scent barriers and I was entering land. The mountain lion wrinkled his nose but kept chasing me, he was getting closer and I felt jaws around my short tail. Claws ripped at my rump, I cried out in pain. Who would be my rescuer, who would save me from this beast. I saw the waterfall and it was a beautiful sight for my eyes, to see this water just running down the rocks into a pool. I swerved quickly, my eyes wide with terror. The cuts on my rump were causing so much pain, I needed to rest but rest would be death.
The lion scraped his claws on my rump again, the pain ripped through my tiny body. I was crying now, there was no way I could live anymore. I was slowing and the lion was gaining. He snapped at my tail again, I let out another cry as hair was yanked out. If only my angel would come and rescue me, they would kill the lion before I died and I would be forever in their debt. I was crumbling, my life was slipping away and I could feel it. I could feel that death was coming to claim me, it wanted me gone and I could feel it. It seemed like no one was going to save me, it seemed I was going to die like this and be eaten by a lion. So much for my glorious life, where I would have fun with other horses and flirt with stallions. Yes, I would be a wild mare and have fun with my life but I couldn't know as I was going to die. Be eaten and killed by a lion, my life would end in these lands unless somehow I survived.

The king made his rounds, in that slow and royal way that kings have always made their rounds. His hoofprints traced paths many times crossed by others before him. By the very first lights who had come to this kingdom. He was proud of his kingdom, proud of the beauty and the glory and the endless life and light that resided here. He lowered his patched crown, satisfied with his work and that no darks had crossed here. The scent marks of the borders were refreshed, proclaiming loudly that this was the light kingdom and intruders would be persecuted with every ounce of being and flesh that resided here. Suhas picked up a steady, slow lope, the long easy gait of travel, and made his way back to the waterfall, slowing only to traverse the rising ground that rose to meet the precipice from which the water tumbled in great, gleaming sheets. Suddenly, he pulled up as a savage, acrid scent assailed his nostrils. Alarm flickered in his eyes as he smelled blood, and the nasty predator-scent that told of cougars. The sound of youthful tears caused rage to well in his eyes and heart, and all of a sudden he straightenened and collected, and let out a mightly bellow of rage.
One thousand two hundred pounds of raging stallion barrelled into the cougar at a full gallop, and the cat, for once, did not land on its feet. Suhas came at it, full of rage that such a creature would dare to come after him. For a moment the writhing cat was eclipsed by the dark shadow of his bodice, and then the cougar sprang to it's feet, growling. It was mad with rage, it's fever pitch fanning Suhas's own. He reared up, and dealt it a fierce blow with the front hooves, again and again. Pearlescent claws ripped at his belly and chest, leaving shallow scars, but the cat's bones broke under the force of his rage. Suddenly, the cougar was fleeing across the grass, bleeding, with an enraged stallion hot at the heels. But, in the end, the cat got away, with Suhas trotting back triumphant, his head high as he returned to the filly. "Are you alright?" he asked, his booming voice tinted with care and worry for the young mare, "it looks like that cat was giving you a pretty hard time. He won't be coming back anytime soon, though. I am Suhas, king of lights. And, you are?"

I saw the giant stag and my eyes widened. He was huge and I dodged the hooves as they came down on the cat. I watched as the stallion chased it off, the anger was visable in his eyes and I was scared. He was so large and so angry I was terrified, when he started to trot back to me I took a step backwards but as he talked the worry went. "I will be fine, I've had worst" she said and if you looked over her creamy pelt the shapes of hooves were imprinted on it. Her mother had tried to kill herself when my father said I was weak and had no chance of life. My dark father, he had said I was weak and my mother had believed him. She thought I was weak so I was taken deep into the mountains, it was there that she left her hooves imprinted on me. I had never felt any breaking bones though, my mother still loved me and she fled with me left on the mountains. It was then that I had to live on my own, I immediatly started my trek down the mountains then as I knew what lurked in the rocks.
As the stag's voice came again I dropped my head and lied down. Great, he was the light king and I looked down at the ground. I couldn't meet his gaze. "hello, my king, my name is Lottie. Sir, you just saved my life and I am now forever in your debt" I said, still not looking at him but at the ground. I slowly stood, my gaze on the ground and I sighed. Why had I gotten myself in this mess, I moved a little and let out a cry of pain as the cuts on my rump were so painful. Blood had stained my creamy coat, I didn't know what to do with this great stag in front of me. I then lifted my head a little, I looked at the stag and quickly turned away. He was the king, I couldn't look at my king as he had saved me. Not to mention the lion had hurt him aswell, he had marks on his chest from the lion and it was my fault. I felt like a traitor, making the light king be hurt just because of me. My stupid actions had caused my king to be hurt.
