[glow=black,2,300]where were you when everything was falling apart?
- - - - - - - - - - - - -[/glow] Skye Isabelle Lyons sat inside of her car, staring at the center of the steering wheel. Why was she even here? It wasn't like she wanted to be, yet she had just gotten in the car and had automatically driven herself to the dance club. She didn't know how or why, but it had happened. Skye always took a ride when she was feeling lonely, or when she just needed to escape from it all. These were the times when she was sick of being depressed and alone. She had been this way for so long, that she really didn't ever expect to get better anymore. At first she had wished she could be cured by a miracle, but miracles didn't seem to exist in her world. Even when she was younger, she had never been naive enough to think she would instantly get well. She knew deep in her heart that it wasn't going to happen. She had been asking for a miracle for as long as she knew what the word meant, and she hadn't met anyone who had ever meant anything to her. She and her soul were unreachable. Until recently. Her best friend was a blessing, that was for sure. Mudslyde had needed someone just as badly as she had, and fate had pulled them together. Fate and chance had worked their magic two years ago. More recently, she had met a guy who had caught her interest, surprisingly. Axel. She wondered how their acquaintance relationship would progress. Aside from Mudslyde and Axel, she couldn't remember anyone who had ever cared about her.
Skye sighed and looked up at the sunroof of her car, through the window. Above she could see the white shining stars in the black night sky, and the full moon which welcomed her into the darkness. Nomatter how many times she told herself that they were the only two who had ever mattered to her, she could never believe that was true. She could never forget about Jakob Dare, even when she wished with all of her heart she could. He had been her absolute best friend. They had hung out together and done everything together, passing notes in class and going places outside of school. She had known him for a couple of years and she had completely trusted him, so she had told him about her past and her history. She had never told anyone before. And after she told him, the day after he left. He moved away and she never saw him again. [glow=black,2,300] - - - - - - - - - - - - -
all my days spent by the telephone that never rang.
- - - - - - - - - - - - -[/glow] It had been devastating, after everything she had gone through, to have the only person she could trust just leave her like that. Lost and insecure. The Fray's song 'You Found Me' played in her head and she groaned in frustration, that song brought back too many painful memories. It reminded her of all of the things she should have done. She never should have put her faith in him. Why did she even tell him? She knew he was changing. He wasn't the same person anymore. He started flirting with popular girls and playing sports and she got left behind slowly, until he suddenly just dissapeared.
Skye finally got up the courage to get out of her car. She didn't like crowded places with a bunch of people. Nomatter where she was, she never fit in. And she didn't enjoy socializing too much either. It was rare that she would ever start a conversation these days. Here she was, dressed for the occasion in a pair of fitted black leather skinny jeans, a rocker tee designed to look like the british flag. She also had on a silver locket necklace, chains, and a cross necklace. Banglets were on her wrist. She brushed her straightened black hair away from her face and took a deep breath as she walked up to the club doors, showed the guard her i.d., and entered. She was instantly blinded by flashing strobe lights and the multicolored spotlights shining everywhere. Couples in corners were illuminated occasionally, but she just sighed and walked in awkwardly. Moving around dancing couples, she made her way up to the bar and sat down on a stool, staring at everyone in their crazy neon colored minidresses and short skirts. It was easy to spot drunk people. She was so out of place. And she used to be a party animal. Skye looked down at her heels and then at the door, watching for a moment to see if anyone new came in, before searching the crowd for someone she knew. She doubted that would happen though and she laughed dryly at herself. Like she knew anyone here. She hardly knew that everyone else existed sometimes. [glow=black,2,300] - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Jakob Dare Jake walked into the club with his usual self absorbed smile on his lips. His brown eyes focused on the mass of people that were dancing. He was more casual, but still managed to look good, his jeans a faded black, and his shirt was a black shirt with a band name on it, in fancy letters. His black hair was spiked, as usual, but a little messed up. Walking, or more like, swaggering, towards the bar he winked at a couple of girls as he did so. With a single movement, he set down at the bar, ordering a simple coke. He didn't want to get drunk, and in fact, though it surprised many, Jake didn't drink. Even being a party boy, he had standards in other areas of his life, just not, in the girl area. About the only thing he cared was if she was pretty, and he was fine with spending time with her. Likely however, he wouldn't spend much time with just one girl. It was more his pattern to move onto a new girl every five minutes, or even less. That's just the way he was. He caught the coke in his hand as it slid down the bar and he nodded in thanks to the bar tender, before raising it to his lips, and swinging the chair around to watch the crowd. He could feel the heat coming off the crowd of dancing people, and the bright lights just added to the humidity of the room. Jake didn't mind though, he lived for scenes like this. In truth, he hadn't been to the dance club in a long while, and he felt like going tonight.
The young man hadn't always been this way. When he was younger, he hadn't flirted a lot, and he had hardly done any sports at all. At the time, he hadn't realized he was good at sports, and he hadn't been desired by girls. But when he started maturing, in features and ability, not in personality, that probably took a decline, girls started paying attention to him and he was asked to play in sports teams. At first he was unsure and uncomfortable with it all, but pretty soon, all their compliments got his ego a lot bigger, and he was already thinking about how great he was. He remembered the transition, and the heartbroken sound of his best friend's voice when he would break 'dates' with her. They had always spent time with each other out of school, but he started to igore her when all this happened.
He could almost hear her when she told him about her past. He hadn't known what to make of it. But his parents had, just a day after, announced he was going to a boarding school, due to his less than admirable behavior at the public school he had been attending. A part of him wanted to talk to his friend, but the other part of him reasoned that they really weren't friends anymore. He listened to the latter, and disappeared, never responding to his friend, or even bothering to say goodbye. Cold, but he felt that she wouldn't care. In fact, he was starting to even forget what she was like, not in full, but they never hardly spent time together anymore.
With a shrug, he left his half full glass of coke on the counter, and stood up. Weaving through the crowd, and grabbing a girl away from one of the guy's that was dancing. Despite the rude interruption, the girl merely looked up at him and smiled at him in a flirty manner. However, the guy wasn't so happy about it, he was practically beet red with anger. Jake looked over the girl's shoulder, being so much taller than her, and smirked at her former dance partner. Shockingly, the guy just turned around and stalked off. He continued to dance with the girl, but he wasn't really that into her, and in five minutes, he left her on the dance floor alone, and he went in search of a more interesting dance partner. His gaze landed on a black headed girl, thin, and in more casual clothing. He grinned, she looked interesting. He walked over, a confident smile playing over his lips. He came up from behind her, and his arms slid around her waist, he leaned down and whispered in her ear. "Care to dance?" The man didn't even realize who he was asking, he hadn't seen her in years, she had changed...

[glow=black,2,300]lost and insecure. you found me, you found me.
- - - - - - - - - - - - -[/glow] Skye sat on one of the stools at the bar, not ordering anything. She was scared that if she did get a drink she wouldn't be able to hold it down, she was still shaken up from her previous thoughts. The waitors finally stopped asking her if she wanted something, and she sighed, relieved to be free of their pestering questions. As least she could get some peace of mind. Well, that phrase didn't quite fit this place. There was nothing 'peaceful' about the dance club, with guys everywhere getting into fist-fights over teenage girls. Not to mention the music, which was so loud that Skye was shocked she wasn't deaf already. The stereos and speakers all over the room were blasting out crude rap songs and heavy-metal rock pieces. It was nearly impossible to even hear your own thoughts. Shifting uncomfortably in her seat and crossing one leg over the other, she reminded herself that this was her scene at heart. Well, at least it used to be, when she was naive and stupid enough to think that a certain somebody had the ability to care about her.
[glow=black,2,300] - - - - - - - - - - - - -
lying on the floor. surrounded, surrounded.
- - - - - - - - - - - - -[/glow]
She used to be a party queen, but even the best of bashes were dreadful when you were alone and had no one to sing or dance with. She was a loner now, though. And she knew that if anyone asked her to dance she would decline the offer. She had no intentions of getting mixed up with this crowd... so why was she still here? Why hadn't she gotten up and left already? She had obviously come for nothing, so there was really no point in hanging around when she was miserable. Staring out over the crowd, she glanced at the door to the club. People were constantly coming in, but people didn't leave fast enough to balance out the mass of people. The room was hot and people were sweaty and dancing all over, some on tables and some on the floor. It was obvious who was drunk and who was still sober. Skye looked pretty discusted with the whole situation, and she frowned and stood up. She just noticed that someone else had been sitting at the bar, but she only noticed their shadow out of the corner of her eye. Probably a drunk guy, and she didn't want to have to put up with that. She did wonder how she had failed to notice him sit down, though.
[glow=black,2,300] - - - - - - - - - - - - -
why'd you have to wait? where were you? where were you?
- - - - - - - - - - - - -[/glow]
Skye pushed through dancing couples and walked around others, trying to find a way to the exit. It was impossible to get there. She groaned out in frustration, pushing through a few more people, but stopping when she saw the brick wall of people blocking the exit. This was hopeless. She swayed to the music slightly so she blended in somewhat, though she managed to sway the opposite way of everyone else. She always found a way to stick out like a sore thumb. As she devised a plan to sneak out of the entrance, she jumped as she felt a stranger's arms snake around her waist and a low voice whisper in her ear, asking her if she would like to dance. Skye hated being touched by strangers, especially since she was at a club, and this guy was majorly hitting on her from behind. She smirked, he had caught her at the wrong time. "I'd love to" she purred, turning around slowly at first, but then faster as she faced him, slapping his cheek roughly and digging her heel into his foot. Taking his hands and unwrapping them from her waist, she let his arms drop to his side. "Sorry playa, find another party princess" she hissed, stepped backwards to see her victim. She admitted that she probably was meaner than she should have been. Under normal circumstances, she would have just snapped at him and walked away, but she had imagined that his man was Jakob. Poor guy.
[glow=black,2,300] - - - - - - - - - - - - -
just a little late. you found me, you found me.
- - - - - - - - - - - - -[/glow]
Skye looked over the guy and a crowd of people stared at her. She glared at them until they turned around. Her eyes were wide and she was ghostly pale, blinking slowly and backing up, running into people. "Jakob...." she stuttered, her eyes filling with tears. She hated crying, but all of the pent up frustration and anger and sorrow burst out of her as she sobbed. She couldn't believe he was here. Part of her missed him secretly, but most of her was absolutely furious at him. And all of her was completely crushed, shattered, broken, and hurt. "You.... you left me.... I don't understand. What are you.... doing here?" she choked out the words. "You don't care about me anymore... just stay away from me..." she continued backing away. She then suddenly stopped and stood still, looking at him, dying inside. Her hot salty tears burned her eyes and blurred her vision, melting on her cheeks. She started shaking like she always did when she cried or when she was really upset. Her heartbeat pulsed through her veins like a sledgehammer. She gasped as she tried to breath normally, like a fish out of water. "You changed, Jake...." Skye shook her head vigorously, trying to hide her face with her hair. "I can't get hurt again... I don't trust you anymore..." she shivered, dissapearing through the crowd. "You hurt me." Skye turned and ran through the crowd to the back of the club, opening one of the many unoccupied doors and slamming it shut behind her, but not locking it. She sat on the floor in the corner of the room and brought her knees up to her chest, wrapping her arms around her legs as she cried. She managed to calm down a little after a few minutes, but she didn't come out of the room. Her red rimmed eyes stared at the door. [glow=black,2,300] - - - - - - - - - - - - -
in the end, everyone ends up alone.[/glow]

Jakob Dare The dance club was Jake's usual scene, but for some reason, tonight he wasn't exactly satisfied. He was bored, despite the pounding music, and he felt alone, despite the crowd of people surrounding him. He didn't know why he had an empty feeling inside of him. He hadn't felt this was in awhile, and he didn't exactly appreciate the fact that he was feeling it now. He danced absent-mindedly with a girl, but never really paid attention to her. Even though she was trying to catch his attention. He had only grabbed her so he had someone to dance with. It wasn't that she wasn't pretty, she was definitely pretty, his actions were just mechanical, empty of the usual enthusiasm he had for this sort of thing. He looked down at the girl and she looked back up at him with a flirtatious smile, but he just stared at her blankly, a bored expression on his face. He was sick of this, and to put it bluntly, he was sick of her. He turned, leaving her on the dance floor by herself, but he had seen that type of girl plenty of times, within seconds she'd have another guy in her clutches.
For reasons he couldn't place. He didn't to be here, stuck in a crowd of people all dancing, whether they danced well or not. His gaze spotted the drunken swagger of certain people, and even those that fell onto the floor because of how drunk they were. A look of disgust crept over his features, before turning away. His gaze turned to the lights, multicolored rays cast over them, different shades playing over all the peoples clothing, adding to the energy of the crowd. But unlike normal, none of that energy transferred to Jake. He felt stranded and even trapped in the mass of people, unable to escape. His eyes narrowed, and he decided to look for another dance partner. It was better than standing around. Besides, he didn't really want to go home either. Not like he really had a place he called home anyway.
When his gaze landed on a particularly interesting girl, he grinned. Not really sure why he found her so intriguing. But call it cheesy a part of him felt like she was different. And heck, who was he to ignore himself? [ooc: XD] He saw her frame sway lightly to the music, and took the time to watch her for a moment. With an overconfident smile, he walked up, sliding his arms around her. He wasn't the shy type, and nobody would change that. Jake didn't always get the best reaction with his forward attitude and actions, heck, he'd gotten more than his fair share of slaps, and even punches from angry dance partners or boyfriends. But this girl beat all. He caught her willing answer and smirked in triumph, never in a hundred years would he have guessed what she had in mind. She whirled around in his arms, and before he could think, he felt a harsh stinging on his cheek. His head whipped to the side and he yelped when she dug a heel into his foot, darn girls and their shoes. Vaguely, he felt his arms being removed and he heard her voice menacingly reply to his earlier comment, once again. Well, that was... uneeded force. He was just about to glare at her, when he looked up, and a light flew right over them, casting a glow of blue over her features. He froze, eyes widening. This couldn't be right....
He was hoping it was a trick of the light, a hallucination or mirage of sorts. But the sting on his face told him this was very much real. Perhaps it was just a girl that happened to resemble his old friend. That had to be it. There was no way the one night he thought about her, she would show up. That was impossible and to coincedental. She wasn't here. Or maybe he was dreaming, oh how he wished this really was a dream. He left her behind, she was supposed to be a part of his past, never had he thought of seeing her again. Okay, that's a lie, he had thought about it, but he never thought it would actually happen. But the word that she uttered, stumbling over it, told him it was true. It was her. Skye Lyons. "Skye..." He replied, a shocked look still covering his face. He watched her sob, but nothing in his exterior changed. He wasn't a really emotional guy. Straightening himself, his surprise faded from his face, and a cold mask replaced it, his eyes becoming like stones, smooth with no character in them what so ever. This was just another girl, another encounter, he tried so hard to make himself believe this little white lie. He watched her, stuttering and forcing out words between her sobs. He swallowed hard but other than that, his impassive expression remained firmly on his face. A little piece of his heart broke when he saw tears streak down her cheeks. Jake was a jerk on many levels, but even he hated to see a girl cry. Especially one that he had such feelings for at one point in time. He watched her back away, as if he was going to stab her in the back, literally this time, instead of figuratively speaking.
It was obvious that she had not gotten over it, after all these years. They had been in junior high at the time, Jake was now 20. He had thought he'd moved on... She turned and ran from him, and immediately he started worrying for her safety, especially in a place like this, in such a vulnerable state. He hurried after her, pushing through people. He slowed, watching her enter a room. For minutes, he paced back and forth waiting for her to come out, but she didn't. With a grimace, he walked to the door, and opened it slowly, walking in cautiously. He looked down at her, eyes red and puffy from her crying, and streaks still on her face. He ran a hair through his spiked black hair, crouching down a ways from her. "You don't have to trust me. You don't know me anymore. And I don't know you. I left you, yes. But we were in Junior high. Do you really hold a grudge for that long Skye? Did you do know growing up since I left? And perhaps before running off you should ask me why I left?" Despite worrying for her, and coming in to see if she was alright, he whispered the words to her harshly.

The longer Skye stayed sitting there at the bar by herself, the lonelier she began to feel. It was funny how one could feel so distant when surrounded by so many people, even more so than if they really were alone. That was how it always was, for her at least. She had spend the majority of her life growing up alone and raising herself, so she hadn't really been around too many people. And when she was, she felt lost and deserted. She had gotten used to being independant. She had been through so many hard times and changes in her life that she was practically immune to certain types of alterations. She formatted herself to fit around whatever lifestyle she was offered. Sometimes silence spoke louder than words, in her opinion. Skye looked around at the groups of people again, noticing that almost everyone was paired up. Couples were abundant, and most of the people had dates, even if it looked like they were just friends. They were all dancing and laughing and having a great time under the intense spotlights, which were spinning around wildly. Skye wished that Axel were there. She smiled to herself, she was always wishing that he was around lately. It was strange just how much she missed him and his company when he was off somewhere else.
Skye felt somewhat like she was drowning amidst all the partiers. The room was hot and humid with so many bodies packed inside, she had no idea if there was air conditioning, though she doubted it since it was burning up, and she felt like she was barely surviving. With so many people and such little air, this couldn't be good for her lungs. She felt as if she were fighting to the end for one final breath. Lowering herself to the ground, she strode past people who were drinking and laughing, their words coming out slurred. Skye rolled her eyes and pushed through mobs, apologizing softly as they scrambled to get out of her way. She was annoyed as she saw that she was trapped inside. This was exactly like a cage. As she swayed to the music, she thought to herself. If her plan to sneak out the entrance failed, she would seriously consider charging through the people or pushing them out of the way rudely. If worst came to worst, she might even crawl out. All she wanted was to get home or go to the barn and spend time with her mare.
Skye felt someone slid their arms around her waist smoothly and she rolled her eyes, irritated. Not only could she not get home, but now she was being flirted with. She considered ways of making him let go of her, and she finally settled on a sneaky method. When he asked if she'd like to dance she replied that she'd love to, then instantly turned around and caught him off guard as she slapped him and stomped on his foot with her heel. She watched his head snap to the side from the impact of her blow and she stepped backwards, hearing him yelp as she crushed his foot. Maybe that would teach people to stop hitting on her. She unlatched his arms from around her waist and backed up, smirking triumphantly. She instantly recognized his cocky features and spiked black hair, along with his brown eyes and glare. This reminded her a lot of the last time she had seen him. When he became popular. Shocked, Skye saw that he looked stunned as well.
She couldn't believe this. She had been crying over memories of him, and now he was here to torture her in person? She hadn't seen him in over two years and he decided to show up in Nevada, of all places?! She had pictured him living large in Hollywood or New York City or L.A. somewhere, not horse country. If he was anything like who he had been becoming back when she still knew him, then she wouldn't be able to stand him anymore. As she started crying he said her name, but she saw his face become emotionless after the shock wore off slightly. The old Jakob would have been there for her, but this stranger standing infront of her was someone who resembled someone she once knew. He wasn't the same. She could tell from the first second. It was a huge dissapointment, but she had been braced for it as soon as she saw him. He was still the jerk that he had become after letting compliments get to his head. There was nothing that she hated more than his ego and his big fat head. His gaze was cold and hard, and she backed away, crying more. Nomatter how hard she tried to stop, she couldn't get her tears to stop being shed over this useless matter.
Skye took off and hid in a room, not caring who came in or what happened at the moment, as long as it didn't involve Jakob. When he opened the door and cautiously walked in, grimacing, all of the accumulated anger she had felt over the years swelled inside of her. She wiped at the mascara stains running down her cheeks, black makeup coming off on her hands. As he came in and crouched, she looked hostile and savage. It was quite clear that she wanted him to leave. When he began talking, she was suddenly filled with rage and fury. His tone ticked her off, he was speaking harshly. When he stopped, she was taken aback. She absolutely wouldn't trust him, and he was right. She obviously didn't know him. She laughed bitterly, a glare in her eyes. She stood up, towering over him as she spoke. Her words were projected in a tone that was much more vicious than his. "You really are clueless now, aren't you? I should have known. You started changing a long time ago, when you started becoming popular. You became this huge flirt and you started going to parties and hanging out with your sports buddies. You changed who you were dating often, and slowly you started leaving me behind and ignoring me. I didn't deserve anything you put me through. I was nothing but supportive of you, and you turned into this huge headed egotistical cocky arrogant jerk! I don't know what happened, but I expected better from you. Apparently, you're right. I don't know you anymore. I know who you used to be." She looked beyond pissed as she paced around the room, making eye contact often. She was fuming.
"I will never trust you again, that's for freaking sure. And you don't know me at all. I didn't really change much either, except for the fact that i'm completely depressed. But you never knew me." Shaking her head and forcing back tears, Skye listened to Jake. Did he really just ask her if she held a grudge for that long? And did he accuse her of not growing up?! "I'm more mature than you'll ever be! I've been through so much... and you know that. What do you mean about me holding a grudge? Jakob, did you have any idea how important you were to me? You were my best friend, and I told you everything. Do you know how much it hurts for me to talk about my past? It's part of who I am. I had never told anyone about my life until I met you, and i'd known you for a long time. It's so hard to bring back memories of when i was abused and beaten and broken. You knew everything, and you assumed we weren't friends anymore. I've never been the same since you left. And quite frankly, i've been trying to move on for once. I met this amazing guy named Axel, and I like him a lot. And I have my horse Mudslyde... and suddenly you're here again and you don't even know who I am. Nothing that happened ever meant anything to you" She sunk back to the ground and buried her face in her arms, crying. She was tired of screaming at him, but she needed him to know how she felt. He hurt her so much. "I hate how I act now. I hate what you've become..." she looked up at him and held his gaze, then rubbed her eyes with her hands.
