Jakob Dare Jake walked into the mall, a bored look easily seen on his face. He didn't want to be here, not really. He wasn't even sure why he dragged himself to the mall, perhaps because he couldn't think of anything he wanted to do. And at least he knew for sure that he could look at girls at the mall, it was gauranteed, even in a small town, such as the one he was stuck in at the moment. He sighed, but fished out his wallet, and bought a hotdog. He might as well eat lunch, it was already one o'clock. Kind of late to be eating lunch for him, but late was better than skipping the meal altogether. He walked away, sitting down on a bench and ate the hotdog in small bites, watching girls walk by. Some paid no attention to him, others offered him flirty smiles, which he returned.
His lunch was gone in a matter of moments, and he leaned back on the bench, his eyes filled with dulled interest. It was boring here, even if there were girls here. What would brighten it up, is if he actually got up and talked to one of the girls. He shook his head, maybe he'd just get up and walk around. He chose the latter. Standing up, he stretched, and stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jeans, with a relaxed pace, he started to browse the mall, window shopping in a way. Really though, he wasn't even doing that, he was just walking around for no particular reason at all. What a boring and meaningless day.

[glow=hotpink,2,300]Skye Isabelle Lyons[/glow] Skye sighed as she browsed through endless racks of clothes and accessories, occasionally pulling a top or a pair of jeans off of the hanger. Now she was at Hot Topic. Checking out the hair clips and shirts that surrounded her in either black, red, or neon colors, she grabbed a few items and checked out at the register, carrying her bag out the door on her arm. By the time she reached the food court she had collected quite a few new outfits. Shopping always helped her blow off steam and focus on something else, besides her recent night at the club where she had crossed paths with Jakob for the first time in a little over two years. She had never expected to see him again, and she had actually been moving on slightly since she got here and adopted Mudslyde, then met Axel. She had thought that for once everything was going to fall into place, but her world had been turned upsidedown in a matter of a few hours, and now she was left with a re-opened wound.
Passing the food court brisquely, she saw a guy out of the corner of her blue eyes, throwing flirtacious looks at the girls that walked by. She looked infuriated for a second, being reminded of Jake. Breathing in deeply and exhaling, she calmed herself down, reminding herself that she had nothing to do with him anymore. She laughed to herself bitterly, like that was true. As she continued walking, she wished that Axel was there to cheer her up and talk to her. Aside from him, she didn't feel like saying a single word to anyone. Turning the corner, she squealed as she ran into someone and stumbled backwards, falling down. Standing up quickly, she came face to face with who she had run into. Jakob. Skye put one foot behind the other, taking a large step backwards, her head throbbing and her body numb.

Axel was doing what he did best: drawing. Well, technically he was sketching. He sketched out pictures and sold them for about $20-$30 each. It was an easy way to make money, and he charged up to $50 for a portrait of whoever asked him to draw a picture of them. He smiled when a little girl asked him to draw a picture of her little Teddy bear, which, the mother said he didn't have to as they wouldn't be able to pay. But he said that it was quite alright and he sketched out a picture of the child holding her little teddy. He then took it out of his sketchbook and handed it to the girl. He smiled as he watched the girl skip away happily with her new picture. After that, he went right back to charging people for his drawings. One person asked him to sketch out a dragon, and he did them one better: he drew a weredragon riding a true-dragon's back. He only charged about $75 for that. He hd been here since the mall opened selling drawings, and, after a moment, looked up, seeing Skye. And he smiled at her and waved. Then she ran into someone and he immediately got up to go see if she was alright. "You OK?" he asked.

Jakob Dare Jake couldn't seem to get his mind of the night he had been at the dance club, and he had actually talked with Skye Lyons. His best friend, or rather, former best friend. It had been years, and suddenly, in this tiny little hick town, he met her again. there was something wrong with that. It was the first night he had thought about her in a long time, and boom, she shows up. Way to coincedental for him, almost like someone was plotting against the both of them. [OOC: haha!] He shook his head, and ran a hand through his hair in frustration. Why this this have to happen. He was happy with the way his life was. He flirted with several girls, got interested in them, thought about dating one or two of them for a week or so, and then Skye shows up. That just wasn't right. She was here now, and interrupting his peaceful existence.
The young man froze when someone ran into him, his arms shot out immediately, but not quite fast enough, the person fell to the ground. His mouth opened to ask if she was alright, for it was indeed a girl, then realized who it was. Shoot. Seriously, twice in the time of a week? How cruel was this. When she stood up, he looked her in the eyes, and watched her take a step away from her. "Sk-" he started, but was interrupted when he hearad someone yell out something, and he turned around and saw a man rushing towards them. Obviously talking to Skye. His eyes flashed, and he grit his teeth, but for now, said nothing, just turned back to Skye, the other man now standing beside her. Looking the guy up and down, he veiled his annoyance, sticking out his hand. "Jakob Dare." He introduced himself, fighting to stay civil

Axel watched him, glaring slightly at Jake, as though daring him to lay even a finger on Skye. And then relaxed when Jake stuck out his hand and introduced himself "I am Axel..." was all he said, though shook his hand in a slightly peeved way. He nodded and said "Nice to meet you..." in a rather -forced- polite way. He then looked at Skye and smiled when she smiled at him. "You sure you're alright?" he asked, softly as he glanced between skye and Jake, as though saying that if he tried anything, he would personally take care of him. He then looked at Jake, Amethyst eyes were sharp and piercing, as though staring him down. He then wrapped an arm protectively around Skye's waist, but kept glaring at Jake. He wondered why he already didn't like this guy hom he'd only -just- met. Strange...

Jakob Dare Jake's face remained carefully blank, almost the mirror image of Skye's expression. He showed no expression, and his eyes held no emotion as he looked at the pair. Skye, his friend from forever ago, and Axel, a guy who he knew nothing about. But waht he did know, was that for whatever reason, he felt deep hatred running through his veins for this man. It almost hurt him, when Skye's blank face was swept away when Axel came up, and she smiled at him, her face radiating when she did so. She was so pretty when she smiled... He shook the thought out. He didn't like her, she was his past, and he had moved on. She hated him and he didn't like her, that was where their relationship started and finished. Nothing more, and nothing less. He looked at Axel in time to see the man glare at him, it seemed, the hatred was mutual.
Nice to meet you? Jake could definitely tell that was a lie. And to think, moments ago, he thought he wanted something to spice up his boring day, that nothing could make it worse. Apparently, that wasn't true at all. Not only had it been spiced up, but it was definitely more awful than before. When he received another look from Axel, he felt like punching the guy. It wasn't like Jake was going to do anything to Skye. She might be a part of his past, and he could never be considered a gentleman, but he didn't deliberately go out to hurt her. His gaze flickered down to Axel's arm as he wound it around Skye's waist, and he felt a wrenching in his gut. Almost like his heart had dropped down to his feet. He smiled, his fake smiles so practiced that he could do it with ease, an almost sickeningly nice smile. "Oh, the pleasure is all mine. I do enjoy seeing my former best friend and her new boyfriend." His eyes were still guarded, but otherwise you would've thought he meant every word. He relaxed, putting his hands into the pockets of his jeans.

[glow=hotpink,2,300]Skye Isabelle Lyons[/glow] Skye was frustrated as she stared at Jakob, though she didn't show it. Her face remained blank, and it was irritating her that he was wearing the same expressionless expression. It prevented her from knowing how he was feeling or what he was thinking, and she had a habit of interpreting a combination of a person's features and body language to determine was was going on inside their head. He still didn't even twitch when Axel walked up to her. Turning to Axel, she beamed up at him, her face lighting up and her eyes sparkling. She let him know that she wasn't injured or stirred by the event that had just occured, and she was a little surprised when she caught sight of a mild glare hidden in his eyes. Looking over at Jake, she watched the two introduce themselves and shake hands. She could definately feel the tension between the two of them, which made her worried. She might not like Jakob after what he had put her through, but she didn't personally want to see him get hurt. And she knew that Jake didn't look too happy earlier because of the hatred in his eyes, and she didn't want Axel to get hurt either. She looked down for a moment awkwardly, her dark hair falling over her face.
Looking up, she smiled at Axel and watched as he smiled back at her. She laughed softly when he asked if she was sure that she was okay. "I'm positive i'm alright, I promise. No fractures or broken bones or anything" she giggled. It felt so great to know that someone cared about her. Where one door closes, another door opens. Maybe Jake was meant to break her heart, so that she could meet Axel. Even when she looked at it in a positive way, the emotional pain didn't fade. Jakob could never make up for all the tears she had shed. Skye saw Axel look between her and Jake and she smiled, he was so sweet. Offering to fight her battle for her. But she knew that she needed to take care of things herself too, sometimes. She had always raised herself to be independant, afterall. But that didn't mean she could never use a little help. Seeing the following look that Axel gave Jake, she wondered why the two already hated each other so much. They were still practically strangers.
Skye wasn't expecting Axel to wrap his arm around her waist so she jumped a little, but then she blushed and leaned into him slightly. She stared at Jake as he said that the pleasure was all his. She wasn't quite sure how to react when he said that he was enjoying seeing his former best friend and her new boyfriend. The word 'former' stung. First of all, he sounded sincere, but from the looks he and Axel exchanged earlier she doubted that he was. Or maybe he really was being honest. If he left her a long time ago, she assumed she was too much for him to put up with and handle. Maybe he was just glad she wasn't being a pain and she was acting like she was with someone else. Second, nomatter how much it felt like she was or how much she liked him, she wasn't dating Axel. Skye finally searched hard enough to see the guarded expression in his eyes. "Jake..." she sighed heavily. "I know you're not really happy to see me, so stop lying. I've been deceived by you too many times. You can't fool me anymore..." she almost panicked when she felt her eyes start to well up and she formed a lump in her throat. "Axel and I aren't dating, but I don't see why you would care anyways. It's not like you and I are friends anymore, so you don't need to be protective or hateful or whatever. And besides, you had your chance to care. Years ago. When I finally told you why i'm so screwed up emotionally and why I don't have a family. But you didn't care, because you changed. And you left the day after without even saying goodbye. You dissapeared and I lost my best friend. You're not who I thought you were after all. You left..." tears fell down her cheeks and she angrily wiped at them, but they kept coming. She hated crying infront of people. Skye sighed, now what would Axel think of her? He didn't even know the whole story about her past, but he knew enough now. Enough to need to know the rest of her secrets. She stood there, staring straight at Jakob, looking helpless and hurt.

Axel smiled in a relieved way when she said that she was alright. But then when she started talking again, he listened carefully to her words, but he didn't question her or anything, and when the tears fell, he gently wiped them away. But then when she said that she and Axel -weren't- dating, well, it broke his heart. But he didn't show it, he was after all the only decendant of a great fighter, he couldn't show too much emotion. But, he loved this girl so darn much, "It's alright, I'm here now..." he said softly. He said, hugging her gently. He was going to say something else, but decided that this guy named Jake wouldn't appreciate it, wait a second, why was he even worried about that? "Since vhen do you need -him- anymore vhen you have me, now?" He said softly, tilting her chin up to look at him. "You're OK as long as you're vith me..." He said softly to her.
