;; A girl clad in a pair of dark grey jeans that looked almost black , a red t-shirt, and a fedora, the coloring matching the jeans almost perfectly, sat at a table that could contain three, alone. Why she had decided to come to a coffee shop when the mention of the stuff made her stomach churn at the moment, she didn't know, maybe because it looked warm inside. The sudden cold snap had caught her off guard, for goodness sakes she didn't even have a jacket with her, and she was quite a ways from the ranch, maybe she could call Axel... and her hand started to go for her pocket. With a sigh, Akira put her hand back on her leg, leaning back in the chair and watching the steam of her hot chocolate swirl up into the air. Akira also pondered running back to the ranch, hm, that wouldn't be bad at all, and a slight smile appeared on her face. Besides, it had been forever since she had run cross country, and that was a great way to get back and to get warm. 'That settles it, once the hot chocolate is finished, I'm outta here,' she thought, leaning forward and taking another sip.
;; Everything seemed to be dull around the inner part of the city, but back at the ranch things always changed. There was always something to do, whether it be to ride your horses out on the track or trails, or do the normal barn-chores that no one else wanted to do, a great remedy for boredom. Akira let out a soft sigh and pushed a lock of hair that had fallen in front of her hat behind her ear, crossing her arms. 'Wouldn't it be great if something happened? I can't believe there's not something coming up... wait... Axel and Skye were talking about something a while ago... a trail ride?' she pondered, trying to remember what people had said about the trails. However, there were many warnings as well, but most of the people her age looked at the fliers once and guffawed, most likely tearing it off the telephone pole, because they thought it was a joke. She couldn't remember what the two had said, and what everyone else was saying, but she continued to try to bring it back to her memeory, slowly dragging her finger around the edge of the lid.

Skye yawned as she wandered down the street, walking brisquely so that Chase had to pick up the pace to keep up with her. She shivered in her light purple hoodie and reached up, adjusting her white cable knit beret. It really stood out resting against her dark black hair. Chase glared at her teasingly when she glanced back as he walked along behind her, letting her lead the way. He was new here, and his friend had introduced him to Skye. She was nice and a sweet girl, but she did seem to be a little on the impatient side. They had managed to become friends, though. He rubbed his hands together, it was cold outside. The winter winds were brushing against his cheeks, making them turn red. He smiled when he saw Skye's nose was pink, and she rolled her eyes, but smiled back. "Walk faster, it'll be spring already by the time we get to the coffee shop." Chase laughed softly at her words. "Lighten up, Skye. Take time to enjoy your surroundings." Skye grinned and nodded at him. "Oh, alright. But don't take forever.
The two made their way down the sidewalk and across the parking lot together, Chase playing around and Skye laughing softly. As she reached the door to the coffee shop she opened it welcomingly, stepping inside and inhaling the scent of vanilla, sweeteners, and cinnamon. Chase trailed along, looking around curiously. He ran a hand through his skater cut blonde hair, green eyes adventurous. After ordering their beverages, Skye took a sip of her french vanilla latte and searched for a place to sit. Chase walked up to a table, seeing a girl sitting alone. He smiled in a friendly manner. "Mind if we join you?" he asked. Skye's eyes widened, not liking the idea of sitting with a stranger. Strolling over to the table to apologize for Chase's bold behavior, she looked surprised when she saw Akira. "Hey, I didn't expect to see you here. How are you?" she said brightly. Chase looked lost, so Skye introduced them. "Oh, and this is my friend Chase," she wasn't one for formal introductions. Chase offered her his hand. "Nice to meet you."

;; Everything had grown awkwardly quiet, and Akira shifted in her seat, taking another sip of the never-emptying cup of hot chocolate. How long had she been here, sipping the same dang drink? Well... steam was still coming out of the top, so it couldn't have been that long. No sighs escaped between her lips, instead she busied herself with fixing her hat, and looking around the coffee shop. There weren't many tables open, and most held, on average, a single person. Akira realized that if the tables all ended up having someone sitting at them, she would have to move, just to be polite. Besides, it was about time for the polite-deed to be turned into the office. A smile played upon Akira's lips when a voice to the left startled her, although she luckily didn't jump. She looked up and tilted her head, saying unintelligebly, "Uh..." She shut her mouth and nodded slightly, thinking, 'Nice.. where the heck did that come from Ms. Confident?' she thought grumbled, still looking up.
;; When another person came up to apologize, Akira recognized her as Skye, and she smiled, happy that she knew someone. Maybe she even brought a car! "I'm pretty good... though not feeling so smart. T-shirt... it's cold outside, you?" she pointed out, tugging lightly on the sleeve of her shirt. Skye was one of the few people that she was actually nice too, and not just cordial, so this Chase guy then demanded the same respect. She shook the hand and greeted him, "Hey, I'm Akira, you too." with as much enthusiasm as she could muster, the cold always annoyed her... it was just so... cold! She pursed her lips for a second and debated over asking them if they brought a car, but by the looks of their pink faces, she guessed not, so it wasn't really worth asking.

Skye stretched, yawning once more. The cold kept her awake and lively, though it was much warmer inside of the coffee shop. She felt herself getting slightly more tired, though she was grateful for the change in temperature. Chase sighed, observing the people in the coffee shop. He missed his old friends back in New York, but he knew that he needed to move out here to Nevada for his own good. He had been growing increasingly quieter and sadder back around his old home since all of the family photographs and friends brought back constant memories of his sister Cailyn. He missed her a lot, though not many people knew it aside from his parents. He was good at hiding things. His parents had urged him to move for his own well-being, so that he could change his routine. He had needed a nice change in scenery. There were a lot of new things to do and people to meet, so maybe he could end up being content here. After getting his coffee, he walked up to a table with a girl sitting in the booth alone, deciding that he ought to start making new friends right away. He asked her if he could sit there with a smile, noticing Skye was walking up to the table as well, and saw that she smiled to herself. He must have startled her, because she couldn't seem to quite form words and she nodded. "I'm sorry if I scared you, I do tend to pop up out of nowhere" he admitted with a chuckle.
Skye walked up to apologize, slightly aggravated by Chase's decision to sit down without her. She shrugged it off though, reminding herself that he was probably just trying to make new friends. He didn't seem like a flirt afterall, since he hadn't hit on her once. She had made it quite clear to him that she had a boyfriend in a polite way, just incase anything happened. But nothing did. Skye beamed at Akira once she recognized her. She had become friends with her from working at Blazing Fame Stables together. Sliding into the booth, she laughed softly when she pointed out her tshirt. "It is really cold outside. I personally prefer the summer. And don't worry about the tshirt, I walked outside in shorts and a tanktop this morning" she grinned. Chase smiled as she shook his hand and said that it was nice to meet him too. She and Skye seemed to know each other somehow, and he wondered how. He thought about offering her his jacket when they went outside again, though he didn't want to come off as a player or something. He'd trying to find a way to do it subtly. "So how did you two meet?" he asked curiously. He leaned back in the booth, taking another swig of his coffee, eyes shining. Skye looked over at him, wondering how Akira would take to his personality.

;; Truthfully, the cold weather sucked, you had to stay bundled up in jackets and pants, and it was dreadful to walk and ride in. In the Spring, Summer, and Fall, the wind felt great against your face, especially when the horse was moving at a canter or above. Yet in the winter the air just stung your face and turned it beet red, and beet is not a very flattering red. However, it made the warmth inside the bed covers and the warmth walking into a store, that much warmer, and that much of a difference. Akira made a mental note to herself, although she was quite unaware of doing so, that Chase was quite cute. When the guy chuckled, she couldn't help a smile wavering slightly onto her mouth, shrugging at his statement. "One would normally assume you'd stand out, being so tall and all," she stated, saying it as if she were making a point, rather than joking around. That was one of the fun things about her, you had to try to read the tone of her voice and her face to find the tone of her words; although at the moment her eyes danced mischeviously.
;; As Skye confessed her mistake of clothes that morning, Akira laughed, putting her hands over her eyes for a moment, just for show. "Wow Skye, I am sorry, you must've froze," she laughed, not believing that she had done that. Woww... poor Skye. When Chase asked when did they meet, or how, for that matter, she simply shrugged and picked up her hot chocolate, holding it with both hands. "I went to work at this Axel guy's ranch. Blazing Fame Stables, and Skye was there. She and Axel," Akira stated, eyes still glimmering mischeviously as she pointedly glanced at Skye. Stirring up trouble, even if it's the sort of trouble everyone can laugh at, was just embedded into her genes, her personality, and her life-ethics. After Skye glanced towards Chase, Akira slightly rose an eyebrow, wondering why she did that. It didn't seem important, but she couldn't really put off the feeling that it wasn't.

Chase and Skye looked out the window of the coffee shop, watching the cold wind blow across the streets. Newspapers and a few pieces of scattered trash swirled around outside. The icy breeze occasionally nipped at the few people who were actually walking or jogging. Most of the rest of the population was either at home bundled up in blankets sipping on hot chocolate around their fireplace or crammed inside of an overcrowded store trying to wait out the bad weather. Chase on the other hand didn't really mind the cold. He was fine in almost any weather and he never complained. That was just the way he was, always trying to find things to be grateful for rather than moping around because something minor wasn't exactly the way he wanted it to be. Skye wasn't so fond of the winter, but she wasn't really saying much about it. Chase then turned to Akira and smiled at her. She was really pretty and he got a good first impression. She did seem somewhat hard to decode. He'd figure out if he could figure her out in the future. Sometimes mysterious people made you want to stick around longer and decipher their words and expressions. They were intriguing. He raised an eyebrow when she said that one would assume he would stand out because of his height, and then he laughed and shrugged. "I suppose one might, though it depends on what you're looking for. Sometimes even the tallest of people can be the smallest inside" he stated. Confusion flickered in Skye's eyes and she studied him briefly, wondering what he meant by that. She decided to brush it off, he wasn't talking to her anyways. Amusement in his own eyes, Chase grinned, flashing her a toothy smile. "Though in this particular case it was probably just because you weren't paying attention." Skye stuck her tounge out as Akira laughed, rolling her eyes good naturedly. "I did freeze. I thought it was going to snow and I was going to be stuck out there because my joints iced over" she smiled. Chase grinned at Akira's response and he glanced at Skye. "She's told me all about Axel today" he laughed. Skye elbowed him in the ribs and he glared at her teasingly.

;; Akira thought to why she had come to the Coffee Shop anyway. There was plenty to be done at the ranch, and Axel was probably there all by himself, seeing as Skye was here. Maybe it was the thought of a nice, hot chocolate, and simply taking some time off from being at the ranch. There wasn't really anything to look forward to, though she had heard there were some races trying to be scheduled. When Chase laughed, Akira realized that it didn't sound like other 'guy laughs', this one wasn't fake, and it didn't ring with a hard-edge, it was very personable, and full of personality. She rose an eyebrow curiously at his comment, trying to decipher it, although she honestly didn't quite get it. "I hope you're not talking about you?" she questioned. Was he alluding that he was a bad person inside? What a confusing, interesting, but confusing, guy. She guffawed, "Not paying attention? I always pay attention... I just wasn't paying particular attention to you." she grinned mischeviously, teasing.
;; She laughed along with Skye, sticking her own tongue out in turn. "Snow's not bad! As long as it's not slush, wouldn't that freeze your joints faster?" she asked, playful mocking in her voice. "Besides, I'm sure Axel would come and look for you before long," Akira assured her. She took another sip of hot chocolate, making a face and swishing the cup around, it settled, she thought, putting the cup back down. As Chase made his next omment, and Skye elbowed him in the ribs, Akira rose an eyebrow, obviously curious. "Oh, and what did she say about him?" she pointedly asked Chase, not even looking to Skye, for a playful glare, or not so playful, was probably waiting for her there.
