So. I was finally going to get to relax this weekend. Hang out. Post. Organize my notebook. Re-alphabetize my bookshelf. Get my room ready to paint. Practice my cello. Bake cookies for my mom. You know, that sort of thing. When I can finally take a big breath and get everything back together before easy-as-pie standardized testing next week (which just happens to count for 15% of my grade.)
Well, look what happened to THAT plan....
My grandma decided that she didn't want her 1 year old hound/Labrador/indeterminate mutt. Who has issues. He had been returned to the shelter three times before she got him, and she was going to return him a fourth. My mom, who apparently ALSO went crazy that day, said we'd take him. Meanwhile, my step-father agreed to take in (with my mom's permission, AFTER she had accepted the hound) a 3 year old Collie mix from a friend.
x.x Then mom delegated the retraining of the Lab mix to me. He has problems. He jumps. He chews. Nobody ever taught him his name. He has severe separation anxiety. But just one look into those eyes... He's always got this look on his face like "ok. tell me what to do now."
He's coming home tomorrow, and the Collie (who I haven't met) is coming home next week. So. My life is about to get very hectic, and I may not have time to post as much as usual. Luckily, both are housebroken and the Collie is (reportedly) very well trained, so MAYBE it'll settle down in a few weeks once my poor baby has gotten some basic lessons (he's good at heart, nobody ever had him long enough to teach him!). If I'm scarce for a few weeks, you know why ;D

The lab mix sounds a lot like my dog, who is also a lab mix ^.^ She's difficult to train, but she's really sweet and loving. It's awesome that you're taking the time to give the dogs some attention ^.^ We'll miss you. It's nice to know you're doing something great while you're gone (:

Thanks, Mads ; ) Anyway, it turns out the Lab, Sherman, isn't nearly as bad as we were led to believe. The worst thing he's done since we've had him is to grab a graham cracker from a little kid (of course, no one was watching him xD). He also got into my trash, but after a lesson about how bad that trash can was (I feel ridiculous, I kicked a trash can!) he's left it alone.
The collie came home today, and I am now obliged to call her a German sheperd/spitz, because that's what she looks like. I don't think she's got a whole lot of collie in her, to be honest xD.
Right now Sherman is napping in the office next to me and Lula, the other dog, is in the garage with my step-dad. So I can finally breathe a little bit xD. FYI, I WILL be posting this weekend, but I have testing at school this week, so probably not until then.
