Skye smiled at the nurse and doctor who had given her her now regularly scheduled check-ups. She did take a little comfort in knowing that they assured her they would be around and making sure she and her baby were healthy and well all throughout the stages of her pregnancy. She had to admit that she probably wouldn't be too thrilled if she had to come see different hospital staff members every time she had an appointment. Besides, she was becoming a little fonder of the pair, even though she didn't much like medical procedures or the employees who performed them. "You're lucky, Miss Lyons. Everything looks normal and you seem to be doing very well" the doctor said to her with an encouraging expression. The nurse's features were kind too, though she didn't usually speak to her as much as her doctor, which was fine with Skye. "Remember to keep taking your vitamins and eat three full, healthy, well balanced meals a day. Take care of that baby. I'll see you next visit." With her parting words, the nurse slipped out the door and into the hallway. Skye nodded cooperatively, she had been doing all of the things the nurse had instructed so that she had the best chance of having a smooth delivery and a child without any problems whatsoever. You could never be sure, but she could hope nothing would go wrong and there wouldn't be any complications. Hopping down from the table, Skye waved goodbye to the doctor as he left the room as well and slid on her regular clothes, taking off the hospital dress. She waited a while to go into the waiting room, staring at the pictures of newborn infants framed on the walls.

Jakob Dare Jake swaggered into the hospital. The young man really had no reason to be in the rather large building. However, he was bored today, not unlike many other days, and had decided that he was going to come to the hospital. to most, this is a rather strange thing. Why would anyone in their right mind want to come to a place where almost everyone within is sick? Well, he wasn't here to visit the sick, or even to help out/volunteer in any way. That just wasn't Jake's style. Nope, it most definitely wasn't. The real reason for the man's appearance was that he had heard a bunch of new young nurses had recently come to the hospital. And this definitely caught his attention, Jake definitely had the reputation of player. Wherever he went, he quickly built up that reputation. Most people wouldn't think that was something to be proud of, but with his twisted mind, he took great pride in this fact.
The first person he set eyes on was a young nurse walking around tending to some people in the waiting area of the hospital. He moved on, hoping to find one that was more secluded, that is, away from all the sick people. Which was slightly humorous considering he was in a hospital. What he was truly desiring was a young, pretty, nurse to be looking over some x-rays or something, so that she was away from people, for the most part. After a few minutes of roaming, he finally spotted a red head with green eyes. He grinned and walked over to her. "Hey there gorgeous." He drawled, with a charming smile. She looked up at him and offered a light, polite smile. "Can I help you, sir?" Ouch. Cold, professional, and a definite challenge. "Well certainly, ma'am. After that greeting I'm hoping you can help me nurse my broken heart." He replied calmly, with a feigned wince and he placed a hand over his heart. She raised an eyebrow, but her mouth twitched slightly as if she was supressing laughter. "You find me amusing?" He questioned with a smirk. "Quite" She replied honestly, finally chuckling. "I'm glad." He responded with a grin, reaching out and draping and arm over her shoulder. She looked up at him and shook her head grinning, but looked back down at a sheet she held in her hand. Jake leaned down, seeing as she was quite a bit shorter than him, and read the paper.
Patient ID#: 11940437 Patient Name: Skye Lyons
WHAT!? His eyes widened in shock, and he hurriedly continued reading. He grit his teeth together when he read what the sheet was about. Pregnancy. Skye was pregnant! A mixture of emotions washed over him, and he actually staggered back a step. The nurse looked at him questioningly, but was waved off by one of the doctors who said he needed help. How could she... Who... AXEL! His eyes narrowed and flashed. He was going to kill that no good, scum of the earth, wretched excuse of a- His train of thought was halted when a girl exited one of the rooms. He instantly recognized Skye. He watched her walk around for a minute, looking at baby pictures. Slowly, he stalked up towards her. Grabbing her around the waist and tugging her towards him, yet, he did it gently, as absurd as it sounded, he didn't want to hurt the baby. He leaned down. "Why him!?" He growled into her ear. I know we said they'd be small posts... But I had a muse burst! SORRY! XD

Skye smiled at the photos, imagining what it would be like to have one of her own. She knew that she was going to try to be the best mother she could possibly be, though a wave of fear hit her again. She didn't know how to be a mom. Taking deep breaths to calm herself down, she reminded herself that she had talked to Vivian earlier. She could help her know what to do, though Skye suspected that experience and practice would teach her all that she needed to know. There was no other way to learn about caring for a child rather than having one of her own and teaching herself through her mistakes. She then grimaced. She didn't want to make mistakes. Skye sighed, when when she was suddenly siezed by her waist. Gently, but it still scared her, and she screamed. "Are you trying to give me a heart attack?!" She was just about to spin around and give whoever it was a piece of her mind when she suddenly recognized the voice. And she froze. Jakob. She hadn't talked to him in quite a while, since they had collided at the mall. What was he doing here? She felt tears well up in her eyes and the got annoyed with herself, not sure why she was crying. Seeing him always brought back times when they were best friends, though she had to remember that she was furious with him. She finally recognized his question and her eyes widened. She glanced down at her stomach... she was still small. You couldn't tell she was pregnant yet, though the doctors had predicted that she would remain fairly petite as the baby grew. "What?! How did you know?!" she looked shocked and like she was about to break down.

Jakob Dare The mixture of emotions that raced through him were shocking. And it was a fact that they were more than unsettling to the young man. The most prominent feeling was anger and shock. He knew why he was shocked, who wouldn't be when they found out that their former best friend was pregnant, along with the fact that she wasn't married yet. The anger, however not unusual, wasn't exactly expected. He personally thought he had to much interest in what Skye did. He silently berated himself for caring a bit to much about her, he was supposed to be the cold unfeeling player! Sooner or later Skye was going to ruin the reputation for him. He shook his head, no, he wouldn't let that happen. Skye couldn't, she wasn't 'his'. She had... Axel. He scowled at the thought of the man that he considered a real enemy. Along with the two main emotions, there was a few others, ones that, he could put a name to, but didn't really understand why he had them. There was no reason for him to be feeling this way. He didn't like Skye like that... Right? Yet, regardless, there was no mistaking the jealousy that burned in his veins, and even the pain and betrayal of learning about her pregnancy. It wasn't supposed to be like this. It was supposed to be- He cut his thought off. He couldn't think like that, it was wrong. Nothing would ever happen between him and Skye, and it never could. Maybe once upon time, but that time had passed, and there was no going back, no matter how much regret he may have felt.
With growing anger, he walked over towards Skye, having just seen her exit the building. Despite the anger he had, when he grabbed her around the waist and pulled her towards him, he was extra careful. He would never want to hurt her or the baby. 'You've already hurt her...' an annoying voice in his mind piped up. His eyes shown with confusion and frustration, tinged with the anger and pain he felt. Conflicting emotions raged inside of him and he struggled to get a hold on them. He faintly heard her angry reply, just moments before he bent down and spoke. "You may not talk to me anymore Skye, and you sure as heck don't trust me, but that doesn't mean I don't know things... This is a small town, do you think the doctors keep everything to themselves?" He spoke scathingly.

Skye almost winced as she saw Jakob. It was kind of strange how it actually... hurt... to look at him. Not because he wasn't handsome, but because it was just another slap in the face. Another way her memories haunted her. Just one more relationship she wished she could have mended before it was too late. She had dissapointed herself numerous times in her life, so it bothered her that she somewhere deep inside couldn't get over the fact that she hated Jake now. Even though she forced herself to try to believe that was the way things were supposed to be, it still stung. They were supposed to still be close, she knew it. But she could never be close to anyone as arrogant and as rude as him. He had hurt her. He had his chance, and he certainly hadn't proven he wanted or was worthy of a second one. Her pain just wasn't worth this. She saw the fury and confusion and frustration in his eyes. She also thought she saw something else. Pain? Why would he be hurt over this? He didn't care about her. Her gaze hardened over, icy and cold. She wasn't in the mood to talk to him, not after the way he had treated her the last two times they had seen each other. She smirked when he said that she didn't talk to him anymore and she didn't trust him, that was for sure. Her gaze fell when he said the doctors couldn't keep everything to themselves. A tear fell from her blue eyes and landed on the linoleum floor. He was never supposed to know she was pregnant. But how had she not expected him to find out eventually? She was offended by his harsh tone and she looked up at him, her expression wasn't guarded. She looked open, for once. Not hiding anything. "You're right about that, Jakob. I don't enjoy talking to you, because you're not interesting to me anymore. You changed, and you became someone else. Or maybe you were playing me all along and you've always been a major flirt." She stared at him, her gaze penetrating. She looked hurt. "You're not kind to people like you used to be. You're cold hearted, cruel, and you only care about yourself and whoever you're trying to get to go on a date with. But you don't genuinely care about them either, do you?" She placed her hands on his and pulled them off of her waist, dropping them at his sides. She stepped away from him, circling him at a distance. She then suddenly stopped dead in her tracks and looked him straight in the eyes. "You don't care about me." She held back tears at this comment, but continued. "I don't trust you because you left. You've given me no reason to believe you anymore." Skye shrugged, then her eyes narrowed. "And you don't even try to make things better. You just go on with your new life and leave me in the past. I'm over it" she shrugged once more, lying. She wasn't over it at all. But she had always been a convincing liar. "What you just did was wrong on so many levels. You looked at my personal file, or you got some nurse to reveal information. That's invasion of privacy. Axel is great and he's amazing and he loves me. He cares. And you have no right to manipulate someone so that you can find out that I'm pregnant. You've made it pretty clear already that you don't want anything to do with me and you're not in my life anymore, so why don't you do us both a favor and just get out?!" she looked angry again, her eyes burning. She immediately ran and curled up in a chair in the corner of the room, hiding her face and sobbing. "I can't be a mother.... it's not like I planned this" she whispered, her voice cracking.

Jakob Dare Jake saw her cringe and he silently berated himself. Why did he have to come off so strong? Why did he do all the ridiculous things in his life. And why, why had he ever hurt her? What had possessed him to do something so stupid, as to leave her without saying goodbye, just as she had told him about her past no less. Was he honestly so cold and unfeeling? Or was he merely unintelligent that he hadn't seen how it would break her and cause her so much pain. He read her eyes like an open book, but in only a manner of a few seconds, the book was slammed shut. A frigid stare met his brown eyes, covering up what emotions her pretty eyes had once held. He watched as a tear slid down her face and dropped onto the floor. Here he was, causing her even more pain. Why did he keep meeting her, why did he keep talking to her. It was probably best if he just left and never saw her again. Maybe then, maybe if he did that, then he would finally cease the onslaught of pain and tears he always brought her. She was finally happy with her life, she had finally gotten over her past and over him, she had Axel, that no good boyfriend that had gotten her pregnant. She said she loved him, so he needed to leave. He would never be the one to comfort her, or to stop the tears and to lighten up her face with a smile. Then her icy stare broke when she looked up, instead he was met with her open gaze. Showing everything she felt, she was stopping the lies, finally being honest.
He saw the hurt look on her face, in her eyes. He had caused that. His heart was crushed, flattened, he could never be anything more than a horrible memory to her. And maybe, for her sake, that was the way it should stay. That was all he'd every bring her. He had nothing to give her, nothing positive or good, or anything to be desired. He should just stay away. As much as he wished it wasn't true, the words she spoke were painful for him to listen to. He wanted to turn and walk away, or to make her be quiet and go back to the way they had been. Best friends. He had always said they would be best friends for life. She had trusted him, believed him. And he, he had broken her heart when he'd left, without a word, without a goodbye. The words she spoke, the accusations that he wanted so badly to deny, hurt. This was what she thought of him. Was he really like this? Was he so cold that he didn't care for anyone anymore. No! That wasn't true, he cared for his sister, loved her, he'd die for her, anything so she wasn't hurt. He cared for Skye, but he needed to leave those feelings alone. She would never accept that he wasn't like she thought he was. Her words hit him like a knife to his back. She was over it. She was over him. Her long tirade finally ended, with a lovely declaration of 'get out'. Everything he had convinced himself of, was true. He had to get out, to leave her alone. To leave everything in her life alone. He saw the anger in his eyes, and regret welled up in him, but he kept his mouth shut. He watched her run off, and he turned to leave, but he couldn't. He saw her crying in the corner of the room, curled up in a chair. He walked over quietly, hesitance in his stride. He knelt down in front of her, hearing her whispered words. "That's not true... You'll be a wonderful mother Skye... And you'll have.." He trailed off and finally bit out the name. "Axel, to help you."
