The power of the world,
It saps my strength.
The power of your gaze,
it steals my feelings.
In your eyes,
I am naught but a child.
In your mind,
I am naught but a girl.
I long to grow-up,
To be a women.
But as you ride off yet again,
I know that you won't be here,
To see me become one.
Her eyes hold your gaze now,
Focussed on her face.
Her words hold your voice now,
Focussed on her lips.
So I shall ride away,
Off to war,
Alongside our men.
And the depth of the shadows,
Shall conceal my figure.
Though in your eyes,
I am naught but a child.
In your mind,
I am naught but a girl.
And though I cannot bear it,
To tear my eyes away from you,
I must.
For your sanity and mine.
Because her eyes hold your gaze now,
Focussed on her face.
Because her words hold your voice now,
Focussed on her lips.
And though I cannot have you,
You are naught to have her.
It should thrill me to know that,
But instead it breaks me,
To see your heart fall so.
Then something touches my heart,
the voice of another.
So many years we grew together,
As friends like never before.
And his words,
So soft, so gentle,
Make the sparrow in my heart jump,
And flutter with joy.
His eyes show what he sees of me too,
a reflection of who I truly am.
In his eyes,
I am what the rest of the world sees.
For in his eyes,
I am a women.
And he a man.
So I shall try to forget your regection,
Forget your harsh words.
Words that stung,
Like an angry bee.
For in his eyes,
I am what the rest of the world sees.
For in his eyes,
I am a women.
And he a man.
I will not fail him,
For he sees me for who I am.
A powerful women,
With him now as my man.
If you've ever read 'SongOf The Sparrow' by Lisa Ann Sandell (it's a book) this'll make even more sense because I wrote this after I read the book.
