Chris was working hard. He was walking around so much at the hospital. When he finally got off work he was close to screaming. He took off his white coat and gloves and then grabbed his own coat before putting it on. "See you tomorrow guys" he said to everyone else and walked out of the door. As he walked down the street he was smiling. He walked into a shop and brought a small bouquet of flowers. He had only met the vet once but she seemed like a really nice girl. "Am I falling in love?" he questioned himself and laughed. The vets wasn't that far from the doctors so he didn't mind walking. The flowers were a mixture of different coloured roses. He hadn't given a girl flowers before. In all the movies girls loved it so he thought he might try it. Of course they brought chocolates too but he wouldn't want to put them into a place with animals. That could be a disaster. The vets office was in sight and he smiled. Kenya would probably be surprised to see him. He laughed a little. Then he opened the door of the vets.
When he walked inside the receptionist looked up at him, a eyebrow raised. He walked over "Dr. Turner, I'm here to see Dr. Miller" he laughed at this. "Take a seat" she said and he happily sat down on one of the chairs. She was probably taking care of a patient. He couldn't see anyone here so that was a good thing. He ran a hand through his quite messy hair. He was just so stressed out today it was unbelievable. Now he was off work though and that was just such a relief. He hated a busy day. He just couldn't stop rushing around. There were several riding accidents today and he rolled his eyes. At least the humans can get fixed for broken bones. Shame about the horses. The worst case today was probably the little girl. A lot of young kids go on horses but then they fall and have to go to hospital. The good news, a few patients had been released after some surgery and that was always good. To see the look on their family's faces when they come home. That is the reward out of being a doctor. And the paycheck of course.

The hustle and bustle of the day was finally catching up to Kenya, just as the end of the day was approaching. She wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, sighing almost inaudibly. The young vet was definitely ready to take off and head home. Maybe have a nice bubble bath. It wasn't like she got to do that a lot, hardly at all for that matter. She looked down at the young canine on the examination table, the puppy looked back at her with slightly clouded eyes. She stroked it's furry white head, as it laid down, sullenly staring at her. "You'll be fine little guy" She promised, her voice just a soft whisper. The young dog was deaf. Her receptionist had found the dog, on her way to work, abandoned not to far from the Veterinarian clinic. She was going to have to find an owner for him, but it was going to be difficult. Even though the breed was good for ranches, because of the lack of hearing, he would never make a good ranch dog. The puppy had a higher chance of being run over or trampled. He couldn't be trained by voice signals, which meant he wouldn't mind unless he was looking at you. This caused severe problems in finding him a new home. Which was most likely why he'd been dumped on the side of the road. Anger rose in her as she thought of the injustice. Most said she became to attached to her 'patients', but she couldn't help it. In fact, she was taking the young dog home with her, until she found a suitable home for him.
Kenya turned towards the door when her receptionist walked in. "Dr. Miller, someone's here to see you." The woman announced, a mischievous look on her face. Kenya rose and eyebrow at this, but didn't comment, merely nodding. The other woman walked out, and the young vet looked down at the trembling puppy. Shedding her thin white coat, she wore for work, she threw it onto a coat rack. Picking the puppy up, she walked out towards the lobby. Looking around for the person that came in to talk to her. When her gaze landed on the local doctor, a smile lit up her face. "Chris!" She greeted warmly, hugging the puppy in her arms, chin rested on the top of his soft head. Chocolate brown hair curtained her thin face as she watched the man that was currently holding a bouquet of flowers. She walked over to him, "What brings you to my humble work practice? No animal trouble, I should hope."

Chris heard the doors opened and looked up. He saw Kenya with a beautiful puppy. He had wanted a dog but seeing as he had no permanant home he couldn't own one at the moment. She looked over at him and a grin came over her face. He smiled as stood. His gaze landed on the puppy for a moment before looking back up at her face. The happiness in her voice made his grin widen. "Hey Kenya!" he replied. At her comment he laughed. Animal trouble? If only he had a animal. He walked over to her and stroked the puppy. How it was so sweet. Sometimes, he wished he was a vet. The patients were so much cuter. You could also cuddle and stroke them. If he done that to one of his patients he would get hit. Sued. And thrown out of his work. That would be the worst thing to ever happen. Then again. Working with equine would be hard. So many times racehorses have to be shot because they have hurt themselves and its not fixable. Isn't it time someone had actually found a cure for these poor creatures. He hated it. No one took action.
"I just wanted to see a friendly face. And I don't get animal trouble. No animal. I was looking to buy a dog or something when I get myself a place to live" he said and looked at the dog again. Man. That cute little canine just kept on distracting him. Sometimes, dogs were just too cute for their own good. Especially this one. He absolutely loved this dog. Maybe, if the dog had no owner, he would take it on. He could do with a faithful companion. His gaze shifted to Kenya as he spoke. "Who's this cute little fellow? Surely a dog this cute can't have anything wrong with it. Its just too cute!" he laughed and stroked the dog again and then remembered the flowers in his hand. "These are for you. I was going to by chocolates but thought against it. Imagine any of the animals accidently getting at them. Imagine explaining that to their owners" he shook his head. That would of been a massive diaster. He would probably never live it down as it would of been his own fault. He would feel guilt forever.

Kenya almost chuckled when she noticed Chris's gaze kept refocusing on the puppy in her arms. An idea appeared in her mind, but she shook it away. He didn't have a place for a dog, yet. The idea, unbidden, began to take shape, forming rapidly. His laughter caused her happy mood to heighten even more so. She was happy to see a friendly face for once. Today had been filled with lots of owners complaining, and quite a few yelling at her, or even refusing to pay. Yeah, work always had its drawbacks, but today had been ridiculous. She lifted her chin off the puppy's head, and tilted her head to the side as she watched him with a grin. She propped the puppy a little bit up in her arms as Chris walked over and pet him on the head. The little dog shook it's head a little bit, admitting a small sigh, head going farther down, nestling in her arms, allowing its self to be stroked.
"I have to say, today was a great day for you to stop by. I could do with a friendly face myself." She said with a small smile. She perked up at his last statement about looking to buy a dog. Yeah, her idea was definitely going to work. It had to. Who else would take on a deaf dog? Even animal lovers that had a ranch nearby, couldn't take on this puppy. It would just cost money and give nothing back. Before she could answer his next question about the puppy, he held ow the flowers and then started talking about why he didn't get her chocolate. She started laughing at his explanation. "That's sweet of you." She took the flowers from his hand, still chuckling at his drawn out explanation. "And this little guy." She started, looking down at the small canine. "Was found not to far from here, abandoned. I probably won't be able to find him a home. He's deaf. A rancher would have to be literally stupid to take this little guy on, sadly." She stated, looking up at Chris with a thoughtful look on her face, that was hard to miss.

Chris laughed. "I'm guessing your day has been as hetic as mine. I was lucky to get off when I did. I could of been staying there all night if the other guy didn't show up" he said thinking about his day. It had been hell. Then again, that is what it was like. A lot of people fell of horses and needed to come to the hospital for a cast if they had broken a bone. A horse town was a death trap. It was also a place for anyone though. He liked it here. And not just because of the atmosphere. He looked at the dog as it allowed itself to be stroked. How cute the puppy was. He might just take the poor thing on. It was give him a bit of company and, well, he needed some excuse to go home in the evenings. Staying in that hospital and getting a lack of sleep just couldn't be good for his health. Then again, he would know the most of it. He was the doctor of this small town after all. If he didn't know about it, he wouldn't be a good doctor.
She laughed when he told her about the chocolates while she accepted the flowers. It made him chuckle too. He loved it when she laughed. As soon as she started to talk about the puppy he listened intently. Abandoned? Poor thing, nobody should be that cruel to a dog. They had lives too. It was just so mean. A frown set upon his face. She was right. No person owning a ranch would want to take the puppy. Even how cute it was. The idea of adopting the puppy came back into his mind. He might as well take the poor thing. It needed a owner. "So, if nobody has taken a liking to him yet I guess that I could take the poor fellow" he said looking at her. A light smile was back on his face. A dog would do him good. It would probably give him more of a chance to see Kenya. That was always a good thing. He needed a home though. Maybe a local ranch could take him in. Just give him a room and he could pay rent. It probably could work well. They would accept a dog, most of the ranches here did.
